Yeah the no executions ground the game to a halt it was a good decision to get rid of it.

Maybe there could be a random penalty if it happens again rather than outright banning it. Although I'd be happy to see it banned.

I'm still intrigued to know what Harv was on about with the 'all is not as it seems' post.

Yellow wasn't up to anything, I just put some stuff in PMs to try and stir it up. I loved how you were getting so focused on it.

 yeah I just didn't want to say something really obvious so it kept you suspicious Techno! Clearly worked .

Enjoyed that, will certainly look to be involved in the next one!

SUTSS had a challenge in running what would be the first game of NOTW for a lot of people, but watching from the outside he's pulled it off brilliantly. Was fun to watch it all unfold without actually knowing who was a wolf/seer/angel and all that. Even though I took the piss at the time, I did feel really sorry for LR when he was killed... he was pretty much the MVP here and got the innocents off to a great start.

If I run one again, and Oaf can take this on board, I'll limit or ban No Execution from the start.

Yeah, I wasn't going to include no execution anyway, though I'll just let people refrain from voting if they want. I feel like it makes each execution vote seem more important; if you vote somebody for execution you are absolutely condemning somebody to death, not just kind of doing it assuming that it won't happen because of the whole no execution thing.

I called LR a four letter name when I finally relised we could kill him. Think we all enjoyed that moment.

Sorry LR.

Thanks SUTSS that was great fun. You did a really good job of balancing it when things stagnated a bit, it's difficult to make changes without it seeming contrived or overly favouring one side over the other but I thought you managed it brilliantly.

Just disappointed, after being convinced I was a goner early on, that I didn't make it through to the end!

To echo others, very well run SUTSS. Always quick to respond to any wolfish questions and bar the mini cock up with copy and pasting the '3 Wolves' part there were no real discrepancies.

We threw Aberstone's name about more than a few times but each time decided for someone else (probably another attempt at Last request each time!). I never suspected InceptiveLemon, thought he was just a bit quiet.

Harv was reeeeeally late to become a wolf, long after I was dead, and Etty was about as useful as Anne Frank's Christmas drum kit, but stayed under the radar until the end!

It was my first forum game really (i was in the reject group in TFF Wars and got eliminated after about 5mins, and occassionally play sheep), and it was fun interacting with people a bit more. Also met up with Techno for a pint, which was joyous.

Finally, without doubt Last request for MVP or BCV (biggest c*** villager). I was convinced the seer was dead about halfway through and that the circle of trust was a hoax, so to keep that under wraps, while picking off steady ravenbish and myself was some seriously good mayorship.

Well done team town!

Thanks to Aberstone for keeping me alive so long! Can't believe I lived for so long as mayor.

Thanks for running SUTSS. I enjoyed my harebrained bluffs early on in the game to see if anyone defended Steady, and if Ciderhead would throw the towel in as a wolf. Neither really worked, the latter probably because Cider was innocent but I enjoyed it anyway :bg1:

I enjoyed following that. Kind of glad I died early on as it was good sitting back and watching it unfold. I do wish there had been a few more active people though. It became a bit of a formality by the end.

After I died SUTSS told me I had become hated in Wolf circles.

Yeah you were a massive pain. I was surprised at some of the choices the COT decided at times though but it was never clear to us what you guys were doing.

I look forward to the next time.

I was made a wolf after the execution of JJH. If only I had been seered and brought into the CoT earlier. :(

My last act was to use my power and take out LR. Gave myself another day to try and bs my way to survival, but it wasn't happening.

Here was my ability:

Ability: Rigged Elections – In your time as a smuggler you've learnt just about every trick in the book. You may at any time rig a vote, either for mayor or for execution. PM how you would like the vote to change. You may only do this once.

I'd like to extend what the others have said above by thanking you SUTSS for running the game, I really enjoyed it, perhaps more so once the wolves finally picked me off. Hands up, which of you finally decided to (figuratively) pull the trigger?

I don't know what was said before I joined, but on the first night of me being a wolf I said: "I think Magic/Aberstone would be good to target tonight. They're two of the more active members of the group that haven't raised any suspicions."

We took out Magic that night and then you the following day.

I'd wanted to target Magic for a while. Aberstone was mentioned but you finally brought him to the forefront.

Where is inceptive? Does he know he's safe yet?

Initially the wolves were IanH, Steady, Ravenbish and Etty Abrics. They had the chance to recruit one more member at this stage. They were told that this was to be done at random but in reality they couldn't take the seer or the first person that had been seered so that's why they were told to pick 3 names. First on their list was Last Request but he had been seered so their second choice, Techno Gypsy, became a wolf. Their third choice was Stringy. They picked this on the first night and that is why no one was killed by them then. Harv joined later through a random event which I will get to later.

The first time Aberstone was mentioned as a possible target was on April 5th. If they had have killed him then then I think this would have started to go in a different direction.

There were four random events that could have happened at any time. I ran a random number generator at the start of every game day to see if they happened. Two of them did but both late on. The first was Harv becoming a wolf. He was given three options, he could talk to the wolves, fight the wolves or run from them. The wolves were given the same options. They both choose talk so Harv became a wolf.

The second event was Toffee Joe's death. This was quite a simple one with just an innocent dying with no explanation. If it had happened earlier then I think it would have caused more of a stir.

The two that didn't occur were an event that would take one member out of the village on a quest and one where the execution vote would be narrowed down to just two possible options (both decided at random).

The abilities were assigned at random (bar Stagat's and Tom's) and then made to fit the character. There was discussion in the wolf thread about which characters were likely to have abilities but this was a fruitless line of enquiry.

Stagat's ability was part of his secret identity as the world's greatest werewolf hunter and was the only one pre-determined. He had the ability to use a silver bullet on anyone and remove them from the game. He was killed long before he could use it.

Toffee Joe had an ability in which he could set a trap each night in front of someone that would capture a wolf should they be attacked. This was a one use ability so he wasn't a second angel. He mainly used this to protect himself and nothing ever came of it.

Harv has already explained his ability to rig the vote.

LeeWilson had a one off seer like ability which was similar to Stringy and Mr Elmo's joint ability.

JJH's ability was genuine and wasn't just made up because of his editing.

Their were then two more that didn't get used that I wanted to. The first was Tom's ability as the hatter. This was that if he was the first person executed then the spirit of LordHatterDave would protect him. For the newbies amongst you LordHatterDave would nearly always be the first to be executed in the old games so I thought I would try to pay tribute to him. Oaf almost sussed this out as soon as the character list went up.

The other was The Alex's ability. He had the ability to go on a hunt and take him out of the village. This could have led to several possible outcomes and I had created a whole text adventure game thing for this to go on. Alas it wasn't to be.

Nice one. Lots of good stuff in there. Glad I managed to raise some suspicions leading to the COT seering me early on because I had nothing special in my game so wouldn't have had a clue what to do from the outside!

Where to start? Wasn't expecting that at all and was glad LR got the role of mayor with his experience and all that, definitely the best mayor of Black Shuck. Cardsfan just about 2nd, then the other mayor TCM.

I posted in the thread a couple of times near the start then kept a low profile. Meant to vote a couple of times but forgot, then it got to the point where it would have been suspicious to start posting again. Wanted to so many times though, lesson learnt. The day we executed Techno I guessed there was one more wolf and I was going to post the next day, but that never happened. The clue was in my avatar. Would someone waste time photoshopping a lemon onto a picture of The Scream if they had no intention of posting?

Where the wolves lost this was the early game. We quickly built up the CoT while I think there were no killings on a couple of days, and it wasn't until the 11th day that someone other than Tom or Lee was killed that was in the CoT, by which point there were 10 of us. Killing off people like Stagat, Stringy, Spired and THoD just made it easier for us as the unknowns were eliminated and reduced the amount of people we had doubts about. The day before LR was finally executed, there were 10 in the CoT and 7 that weren't.

As for the wolves, that's a decent side you had. First Ian saying 'this thing needs to get going' pretty much doomed him, even though we never checked him out that comment stuck. Instead we chose Steady as we were in need of some of the more helpful figures in the game. Didn't expect him to be a wolf at all, Lee suggested him and it was a shock. The mayors plan was pure evil though  With Ravenbish it was just luck that he decided to go on his 'forum break' which lasted about 15 hours. Pagnell's forum break lasted longer ffs.

We eventually got Harv, Joex4 and TCM have to take credit for that and the following day we could choose anyone, so I went with Techno thinking he could stabilise the CoT after LR's death and he's a wolf. The day after the absent wolf somehow went on a massacre the only people we didn't know anything about were Etty and Blade. A straight choice between the two, and while Blade's defending himself SUTSS gave us a subtle clue:
[Just to clarify something: Etty's a wolf.]

But we didn't take it and the game lasted half a day longer and 2 more got killed. And that was the end of that. The wolves hadn't really exposed themselves and got a bit unlucky but killing the wrong people near the start was what made it so one-sided. And the no execution thing probably helped. Thanks to SUTSS for being there in my hours of need, at almost any time of day and for running this so smoothly and not ever flinging the balance of the game in totally the opposite direction the way a Mario Party game would. I have to ask though, just how 'random' were those random killings that removed 3 active members of the CoT? Was that RNG as well? If it wasn't then :fing:

What else? Oh yeah, JJH probably did more damage than most wolves! First he tried to frame a member of the CoT, then exposes
3 innocent players, 2 of which were in the CoT. Those 2 were killed off the next 2 nights. He had to go.

And the roleplaying  At first people were like 'look at ma fish', Steady's pub got about 2 orders a night and Spired created his own language and was promptly shunned. Then after about 2 days people were writing essays that effectively said 'He wanted someone killed, he's a freak. We should kill him.'

As for Black Shuck, time to start repopulating you guys :bdick:

I did debate about giving that clarification that pointed to Etty but I thought it would be unfair if you'd ruled him out and started killing each other thinking the CoT had been infiltrated somehow.

As for the three killings at once, that was always planned. It was going to happen when one wolf was left providing it didn't let them win the game. The idea was that the remaining wolf would pick the three but with Etty being awol then I picked the last 3 people who had been voted for but were still alive and took these as the three that Etty would have picked.

In previous games people have put in personal scores to make people role play which I've never liked so I tried to put things in to make people just do it for the fun of it which did work to a certain extent. There is still a personal score list that I was keeping and need to finalise and then I can name a individual winner.
