I think if Wrexham are making a complete and utter hash of returning, I can't see the likes of the others (except Stockport who have become well off recently) returning anytime soon either...

I'm not surprised he pulled out. After putting in £650k he's severed association with the club and I'm not surprised if he's read Deva Chat I would pull out too. So we carry on going from one crisis to another. I'm not pro or against him. We should have listened to what he had to say. People say he's not a supporter when he's in the Legend's Lounge most home games.
Apparently the board made three requests: for existing financial commitments to be honoured, for a business plan and for the constitutional requirements to be respected.

Hasn't done any of them.

I'm confused. I thought when he paid the transfer fees for Asante and Johns(t)on that were him just chucking in a bit extra. Didn't realise that that came out of the million quid. What exactly did the £650k get spent on?

Didn’t he pledge 300k to the training hub in Blacon don’t know if he parted with the money or not, suppose it will all come out sometime soon.

I don't know Ken. I don't go on Deva Chat anymore because it's run by Gobshites. In it's favour it does keep up with news. More important things to worry about.

It's not really clear.

One thing he definitely was paying for was for us to train in Upton.

Do any Chester fans on here have any idea what this proposed 5-year plan is all about. Can't find anything about it on the usual sites. Didn't we have a 10-year plan to be back in the league when we reformed. That worked well didn't it?

We had a 50 year plan to get back - fingers crossed we do it in 48....

Chester fan David Evans, a big part of our reformation and former director has been appointed as General Secretary of the Labour Party. I do know that he will be an improvement on Jennie Formby, who was a Corbynysta. He's said to be Starmer's first choice. Lives in London but a regular at matches.

Why would he be a big improvement on Jenny Formby? He stated that there is no place for representative democracy in the party.

Darlo pretty much there with our retained list:

Gk:

Def:
Hedley
Laing
Storey
Liddle
Watson

Mid:
Hatfield
Wheatley
Atkinson
Reid

Wingers/Fwds:
Rivers
Donawa
Holmes
Campbell

Negotiating:
Galbraith - the only other remaining member of the northern league squad. Has been offered reduced terms and wouldn't be surprised if he is looking at other options either from one of the richer northern league clubs or the likes of South Shields or Morpeth.
Holness - has got himself a new agent who is doing what agents do and putting him about. Apparently wants to wait for trials at full time clubs whenever they might happen. Again was mainly used off the bench but worked well in a Midfield 3 with Hatfield and Wheatley.

Released:
Elliott - started the season poorly in goal but was playing through an injury. Put in some good goal keeping performances from December onwards but sealed his fate with a goalkeeping horror show v Farsley in our final game of the season
Trotman - Tore his Achilles second game of the season. Went on Love island, came second. Based in London now and doesnt fancy the travel. Was under 23 before the season and we offered him the same terms so any club which signs him next will owe us some compensation.
Thompson - has signed for Spennymoor, we offered him a contract on reduced terms but he went with their offer. Been with the club since the northern league days. But this season has only really featured of the bench, think we've had his best years and at 31 and as one of the more lucrative legacy contracts from a previous manager this suits all parties.

All in all fans have agreed with Armstrong's moves contract wise. In an interview he indicated that the players we're talking to about signing are currently on furlough at full time clubs so it will be a bit of a slow summer signings wise. He's said we're after a Goalkeeper, A big nasty CB, and a CF or two. Add that to what we already have tied down and I think we can be in for a proper playoff push next season whenever it kicks off.

It really doesn’t. Evans has written about the need for Labour to be more socially conservative. Are you happy with that?

So long as they are not left yes I am. Btw May 1997 when Tony Blair nearly wiped out the Tories was the second best day of my life after we beat Leeds 3-0 in the 1970s.

We seem to be going through a process of rading Chorley for players, with Marcus Carver signed and Matty Challinor re-signed in the past few days. I wouldn't be surprised to see Adam Blakeman back with us again soon either, especially with his family history.

That's a surprise, Carver was one of the few Chorley players who actually looked good enough for this level. If Chorley are letting their best players go does this mean they know they're down?

even if it's only 1 up from each of NLN and NLS there would still need to be 1 club relegated and even though Chorley might moan a pit publicly they are the type of club who are dignified enough to accept it and go again next season. So yes I think they already know they are down.

Its also simple economics, Chorley dont have a pot to piss in. They are a very well run, friendly club but are, like many others in a fight to survive now.

Fraser Kerr? Absolute horse shit for us, but did excellent for Gateshead.

Could be a potential. Only real credible rumours I've heard so far are that we're trying to tempt Jameson (GK) and Maguire (CF) of York back into part time football.

I'd imagine Gateshead and York might be infront of us in the running for Kerr, both being full time still. Think this off season will be about playing the long game. Should be plenty of 'Football League' quality players who are looking for the security of a normal job supplemented by Part-time football. In that category in the North-East it will come down to us, Spennymoor and South Sheilds. Unless Blyth reinvest in the first team will be hard for Michael Nelson to do too much to turn them around.

Speaking of quality. Had a look a Pools retained list, looks a decent core to that squad. Probably the best since you've been at that level. Cant ever forgive Raj for what he did but I'd rather our next Derby was in the National League rather than the National League North.

If and when we get started again you've gotta imagine it'll be a buyers market, there'll be scores of available players, suppose getting certain players depends what route you go down, some clubs are waiting for a start date, others might be a bit more risky and try snap up 'key' targets earlier, I don't think Kerr signing for you lot is beyond the realms of possibility, though linking up with Watson again at York might be a pull for him.

As for us I always think we look strong on paper in pre-season, it's when they step out onto the pitch first game and you realise we're still actually rubbish and nowt's changed.

I reckon league players who wouldn't normally be on national league radars may now be due to the current situation and finances in the game. I can see a lot of players stepping down to join clubs who can offer more security.

Fraser Kerr is about as nasty as a limp-wristed handshake.
