Think we'll win 3-1. We're much improved after that opening day defeat, so hopefully we build further this weekend.

Seem to remember dominating Cheltenham early last season but only just managed a point. That Eisa looks dangerous from the FL highlights, as usual can't see us keeping a clean sheet.

I'd start Jones and S. Miller in place of T. Miller and Hope.

Yeah last time we hosted Cheltenham we were about as dominant as I've ever seen us and that we needed a late equaliser to scrape a point was one of those rare occasions in football where you can say that not taking all three points was sheer bad luck. Here's hoping we find a similar level of performance, because if we do we won't be needing a last minute equaliser this time around.

We're riding a bit of a crest of a wave as a club at the moment, and I'd like to think that will filter through to the players.

That being said, after last season, when we made Dick Turpin look law-abiding, I'll take a point again.

Pretty quiet match thread. I don't feel I have much to say and don't quite know why, presuming the same must be true of the other United fans. Maybe it's just because we've reached a point where after one defeat and one win in the league and both positive and negative looking signs this game seems more like it's going to tell us which end of the league we're going to find ourselves in and we're reserving judgement until we've seen in.

Or maybe you just need to be in the single match thread.

I haven't got much to say because I wasn't at the Fleetwood and Cambridge matches so can't comment on how we played. I know it's a results business and 2 wins is good but usually you can pick up little signs of how things might go by how we set up, defend, create etc, particularly at this stage of the season. The Swindon match was absolutely shite, so I'm hoping for much improvement today.

I was the same shoddy, not too much to say but I do think we'll win. If we score early we could go on and win comfortably, but Cheltenham will almost certainly score.

Very good 3 points. Awful game of football though, stop start stop start, niggly fouls everywhere. Cheltenham came to try and bully us but we stood up to it.

It's the most comfortable win we've had for a while. I never really felt we were going to let Cheltenham back into it. Probably should have been more but for some heroic goal line blocks.

We'll play much better football than that and not win, but we dug in and won the physical battle and deserved the win.

Oh for fucks sake will you shut your hole!!

We get a good 3-0 win, which is very rare for us and you still have to mention something bad about it. :ffs:

It was an awful game to watch though. Why do you want me to lie? If you were there you'd agree. It's not a criticism. Why do you always pick apart my posts and spin a negative when there's not?

Cheltenham came to make the game ugly and they succeeded. We stood up to it though and our fought them which is what you need to be able to do to succeed at this level. All positive from our point of view.

Cheltenham were awful, but I do think that the display from Parkes and Ellis was as good as from any centre back pairing since the days of Murphy and Livesey

We sounded completely awful in the first half and Carlisle noticeably took their foot off the gas after the 3rd goal.

We simply don't have enough players at the moment. We're playing a centre-back at right-back, and central midfielders on the wings., yet Gary Johnson seems to think we only need 2 more players. We don't, we need at least 3 or 4. We're getting a cash injection from the West Ham game this week and we made a decent wedge out of the Billy Waters sale, and we were told this money was going into the playing budget - there is literally no evidence of this at the moment.

I'm a natural optimist when it comes to football, but it really does look like a long season ahead unless at least a winger and a right back are brought in over the next 11 days.

The most relaxed I've been watching a game in quite a while, we just seen the game out comfortably at 3-0. Solid team performance, two tidy finishes.

Be a tougher test at Lincoln next week.

It wasn't an awful game for any Carlisle fan to watch because we won 3-0 and deserved the win.

Have you ever watched us win a game and NOT said afterwards that it was crap?

It's like trying to teach politics to a 2 year old.

IM NOT FOCKING SAYING THE PERFORMANCE WAS CRAP. THE GAME AS A SPECTACLE WAS CRAP BECAUSE IT WAS STOP START STOP START DUE TO CHELTENHAM TOWN'S PHYSICAL APPROACH MEANING THE REF WAS BLOWING FOR FREE KICKS EVERY 2 MINUTES OR A PLAYER WAS DOWN. THERE WAS NO FLOW TO THE GAME, WE HAD TO DO THE UGLY SIDE WELL.

Why is that so fucking hard for you to grasp? I haven't been typing in double dutch. Sometimes I wonder whether youre being serious or are deliberately trying to portray fuckwittery.

Fuck off.

It wasn't a crap match to watch and how do I know? Because it sounded like a fairly good game on the radio, there was no mention of it being an ugly match and I think I'll trust the commentary of James Phillips and Chris Lumsden far more than your 'Everything is shit' view on any match we win.
