Been quite a lot of discussion on who England should take to Russia alongside Kane and Vardy

Rashford will probably be 3rd choice despite hardly playing a game for Man U.

Who is your 4th choice or do we just go with three and count one of the wingers/midfielders as a "forward"?

People have been talking about Glenn Murray which maybe sums up the lack of options!

I guess if Welbeck and Carroll were ever fit for more than 2 weeks they'd be in contention.

In conclusion maybe we just have to pray and hope Kane doesn't get injured...!!!!!!!!!!

I think the England squad should be built like this

3 goalkeepers
Right wing backs Walker and Trippier
4 centrebacks
Left wingbacks Rose and Bertrand
Wilshere Dier + 2 central midfielders
Sterling Alli Lallana Lingard Oxlade-Chamberlain
Kane Vardy Rashford

Play the 3421 formation, with no need for bringing 4 or 5 centreforwards.

Our starting front 3 should be: Sterling Kane Rashford
Backup front 3 would be: Lingard Vardy Lallana

Rashford could move centrally if needed. Oxlade-Chamberlain is a midfielder these days, but could cover a wide slot if Rashford moved inside.

Calvert-Lewin is worth having around the squad as a backup as he'll probably be involved more heavily in future years.

Much as I'd love Callum Wilson involved I don't think he's yet found the consistency required since recovering from his injuries. Destroys Chelsea one week, anonymous against Stoke and Huddersfield the next. Glenn Murray? That Brighton side is built perfectly around him. In any other side (see Bournemouth whilst he was here) he won't work. Add in his age and it's a daft suggestion IMO.

Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy and Danny Welbeck have been selected in Southgate's recent squad.

He must prefer Welbeck as his fourth option over both Murray and Wilson.

Daniel sturridge is good enough to go but unfortunately never stays fit. Jermaine Defoe is probably too old now. Wellbeck ain't great but his record for England is quite good I'm sure it's 15 goals in 36 games so wellbeck will probably be the 4th striker to go along with Kane rashford and vardy unless there's injuries.

I like Welbeck. He’s been poor since returning from injury but has only just started to get a run of games in the Europa. He’s a donkey in front of goal (although he has a good record for England) but I like him playing on the left on a three. He has the ability to really go at defenders and draw fouls/corners. If the England shirt inspires him to his best, I’d take him. He’s a better option than Murray, Defoe, Carroll imo
