There is a rumour spreading like wildfire that it was more of a nightmare.

Thanks for running this Lee. Very enjoyable and it added a lot of excitement to what for neutrals must have been a particularly dull group stage due to the 3 teams going through format. The challenges were well thought out and gave a lot of opportunity for tactics and teamwork.

Yeah thanks Lee! That was great fun, made what would otherwise have been a pretty dull Euros very enjoyable. And well done to the Greeks. Well deserved, were so consistent throughout

Thanks for running Lee. Couldn't commit to this as much as I normally would, even if I had done I don't reckon we'd have finished any higher than last.

We genuinely did our best but nothing went for us.

I didn't contribute much but I was here for moral support. And that's why we won

Week 6 task - Dream Team

Deschamps - 83 (5 POINTS)
Zagorakis - 82 (4 POINTS)
Gullit - 64 (3 POINTS)
Casillas - 58 (2 POINTS)
Olsen - 57 (1 POINT)
Klinsmann - 16 (0 POINTS)

Deschamps finally win a task! Just ashame they didn't start as well as that.

Overall table - week 6/6

1) Team Zagorakis - 31
2) Team Gullit - 24
3) Team Olsen - 17
3) Team Casillas - 17
5) Team Deschamps - 16
6) Team Klinsmann - 4

Zagorakis
Excellent effort from these lads. They weren't the most talkative but they said what needed to be said and got things done, especially with the advantage tasks. As I said earlier, Magic nailed several of the knowledge tasks and was supported very well by Krazy8 and Don Tonberry in particular.

MVP - Magic (never a pot 2 guy again!)

Gullit

A very solid team. Definitely one of the most active with Last Request and Ciderhead leading the charge. Hodge and IanH also contributed well. Very unlucky not to win really. They just had too many 2nd/3rd place finishes rather than winning and the double points week summed it up. So close, yet not quite close enough.

MVP - Last Request (followed very closely by Ciderhead)

Olsen
At one point, I thought Olsen were going to win. They had a terrible week 1 (when Dave was away) but his return seemed to spark them into life with C&B, Murphy and Steve all contributing heavily. Week 2-4 they were superb. Then the double points week really buggered them and despite winning the advantage task for week 6, they underperformed on the game week (no thanks to Murphy). Another team who were close but just slipped at some vital moments.

MVP - Dave

Casillas
A funny team. They never really threatened a victory but were never terrible either. I think some of their members were let down a bit as I thought Paul Haddock and cufc17 played excellently. Oaf's absences were ashame and Epic wasn't too active whilst HOD seemed to focus more at times on Wars than this, despite popping up with some good input in some rounds. They seemed to pick up more towards the end but a lot of 3rd and 4th placed finishes meant that this was where they ended up.

MVP - PaulHaddock or cufc17

Deschamps

Fair play to Deschamps. Most teams would have quit after their opening 3 rounds, but they stuck at it and were probably the best performing team with Zagorakis in the 2nd half of the game. Mind you, they had some very inactive players which was ashame, so even more credit to G Dragon, Super Horns and Natch when he joined the team as well. If they'd have had 1-2 more active players early on, I think they could have gone close.

MVP - Gdragon for carrying the fight early on when few else would (although Horns excelled more in the 2nd half)

Klinsmann
I felt really sorry here for Aber Gas and MJA. Both of whom gave this a real go and kept going to the end. I initially picked Klinsmann as my winners because it looked a very active team with some real forum game experience. However, I'm sure it was unavoidable, such is real life, but Spirederman, JJH and Craig, all of whom I thought would be integral to Klinsmann, didn't play nearly as much as was needed. Ashame, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

MVP - Aber or MJA for persistence.

FINALLY

A big thank you to everybody for playing. I've really enjoyed running this and it was made good by a fairly decent activity rate. Most teams had 3-4 active players which was great. I think Paul commented on miltary timing, and yeah, I have to be organised if I do something like this, it's the teacher in me.

Also, a big thank you to Veggie Legs, who didn't get many chances to intercept such is my military nature but developed several very handy spreadsheets to help the running of the game. He also filled in for me when I wasn't around so thank you for that.

We woulda done a lot better on the last Survivor Leewilson if you lot didn't vote Dave out at the first opportunity! I asked him to join Stagnificent based on what he did in Survivor (helping us out more than people still left even after being eliminated) and he's been great for us in Wars.

tl;dr - get Dave on your team in the next forum game, dear reader

p.s. well run Lee... have followed along and it seems to have been good fun for all (or most)

Yeah glad I played in the end as initially I wasn't going to. Agree about SH and G. The Oldham fan was involved in places too. Enjoyed it wish I'd gone in from the start. Thought that Klinsmann team was solid on paper too so it was a surprise to see them finish bottom.

Well this was my first venture into a forum game and despite the outcome, I have enjoyed every minute of it (yes even the infamous picture round ). Congratulations to Zagorakis on their win, very much deserved and well done and thanks to Lee for running a great competition.

Klinsmann had high hopes as the competition started, but things just never got going for us. I appreciate the kind words Lee, but Aber deserves the Klinsmann MVP as he was stuck very much on his own for some of the tasks and he performed admirably in them. Was a big shame that the real world kept spired less active than both he and the team would have liked and JJ has a lot to answer for considering the time he spends on this forum, although he did have his uses in terms of organising answers in a readable form.

The Klinsmann ship may have sunk, but we take away something that the Grandstand trophy doesn't guarantee and this is the new friendships that have been formed in the Klinsmann PM group. So Zagorakis, you enjoy your victory but in time it will just become a distant memory while the Klinsmann friendship train will continue to steam down the track. Thank you #TeamKlinsmann, it has been a pleasure

Hope to see you play in some of the upcoming forum games. I know Last Request is planning to run one around September time.

Although I joke about a bit with Dave about his family, the main reason I voted him off is I thought he was a bit of a piss taker around the forum so thought he wouldn't take the game that seriously. But to be fair to him, he proved me completely wrong in that competition and being able to see all the PMs in this game showed me how much he contributed to Olsen compared to some in other teams. I certainly wouldn't vote him off again (he'd probably vote me off instead!)

Thank you Wilson, thoroughly enjoyable despite the result. We never really got going, not through lack of effort though. Excellently hosted.
