Germany weren't terrible. I think Mexico deserve credit. They defended for the entire 2nd half like it was the dying moments of the final.
They deserve huge credit for the energetic and tactically perfect first half and for digging in at the end. Germany were average though. No urgency, no pace, no creativity, constant sideways passing and horrific at the back.

Thank you Mexico for scoring only 1 Goal. And now the pain in the arse (aka Sweden). Could be already Götterdämmerung-Ragnarök

Germany won't want to come 2nd in their group - could well face Brazil in the 2nd round but then they have history against them I guess.

They'll still probably top the group, though I've said it for a while, I don't think this German side is all that.

They've got the players and they've got the depth, what they haven't got is the right tactics or team selection. Löw is creating problems where there don't need to be any by being stubborn tactically and sticking with his favourites.

Plus the whole Gündogan/Özil Erdogan thing hasn't helped either.

The whole 'Germany wake up when the real football starts' became 'Germany continue snoozing and wake up when already a goal behind'.

Tactical error to push Kimmich up so high.

but the real football starts in the knockout rounds (and then the players wake up...at home in Germany ) :D

Brilliant performance by México, although they haven’t really got going at a World Cup they are a massive footballing country so I half expected them to give Germany a game. I didn’t expect them to play so well and win though!

Germany should still get through the group but at least they can’t coast through now - they’ll actually have to win against teams who’ll be sitting back against them.

So in 2014 I watched every group game, we had a game between a few mates that we had to pick a nation to support just purely for enjoyment of football. I picked Mexico only to see them drop out to the Netherlands.

Yesterday I thought Mexico were absolutely fantastic with very well deserved victory. I still don't know how a couple of my colleagues thought this was a boring game, I was glued to the edge of my seat for pretty much 90 minutes.

Well done Mexico, go on and win the group, you'll be my 2nd team after England yet again.

Plus it helps I got you in my work sweep stake :bg:

I told you Dirk that you would fail without Wagner.

Now you must revert back to your old dirty and physical style of play if you want to progress.

I told you Dirk that

you did, Carver. And you also told me/us that

Germany will score at least 4 goals with it being their first match to have everyone fear them.

:D
Now you must revert back to your old dirty and physical style of play if you want to progress.

exactly. The Panzer are rolling. And we'll "blitz" the bloody Swedes

you would fail without Wagner.

Ah Wagner, Götterdämmerung- Ragnarök (I already mentioned it but here again...for my friend SALTIRE ;) )

I do get the feeling with Germany it will be the scenario of:

Fool me once, fine - fool me twice, shame on me
