Gonna try and get through a few this morning. Apologies for the lack of accompanying videos but I'm at work and YouTube is blocked on our systems because it was stifling productivity.

43rd - Claudio Caniggia
caniggia-555060.660x368.jpg

Caniggia spent most of his Serie A time at Atalanta in two spells at the beginning and end of the 1990's with a brief spell at Roma between 1992 and 1994 that was hampered by a ban from the sport for taking cocaine. Absolute lad.

Maradona's playmate at Napoli was part of one of the most fearsome attacks ever to grace the top flight of Italian football, or any top flight for that matter.

Diego Maradona

Diego-Maradona-before-Serie-A-home-match-Napoli-Juventus-1990.jpg

Maradona scored 6 goals in 18 Serie A matches for Napoli in the 1990/91 season. Safe to say he had a very underwhelming spell in Serie A in the 90's.

Roberto Mancini

roberto-mancini_g_2045537i.jpg

Before he became a successful manager Mancini was pretty handy in front of goal as a player. He started his career in 1981 with Bologna and joined Sampdoria the following season where he played for the remainder of the 80's. From 1990 to 1997 he scored 80 times in 209 games and winning his first scudetto in 1990/91 before joining Lazio where he scored 15 in 87 and won his second scudetto in 1999/2000.

Giuseppe Signori

beppe-signori-lazio-ansa-17121995_352-288.jpg

Signori played his first season in Serie A with Foggia in 1991/92 after helping them win promotion the previous season. In his first season he scored 11 times and caught the eye of Lazio who brought him to the Stadio Olimpico in 1992 where he won the Serie A top scorer award three times hitting the net 107 times in his 152 Serie A appearances for the club before being sold to Sampdoria in 1998. Afer an unsuccesful six months with Sampdoria in which he only scored 3 times he transferred to Bologna and was quickly scoring on a regular basis again with 30 goals in 59 games from 1998 to 2000.

Gianluca Vialli

748a8c21631cba78d5b8ca525b14a677.jpg

Vialli was already a well established striker in Serie A by the time the 90's began. From 1990 to 1992 he was with Sampdoria where he scored 20 times in 57 games before signing for Juventus where he scored 38 goals until signing for Chelsea in 1996.

Vieri started his professional career with Torino in 1991 and scored once in 7 appearances up until the middle of the 1992/93 season. Unable to break into the Torino squad on a regular basis he dropped down to Serie B. After a couple of successful years he returned to Serie A in 1995 with Atalanta scoring 7 times in 18 games before moving on to Juventus and scoring a further 8 goals the following season. He left Italy in 1997 for Atletico Madrid but swiftly returned after just one season to join Lazio. In the 1998/99 season he scored 12 times in 22 games before leaving Lazio for Inter where he scored a further 13 goals in 20 games. He was quite prolific post 2000 too, but we're not here to talk about that so I won't.

Marco van Basten

From 1990 until 1993 van Basten scored 49 times in 77 games for Milan and won two scudettos before his career was cut short by injury.

HERNAN CRESPO

Hernán Jorge Crespo was born just outside Buenos Aires in 1975. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 for local giants River Plate and went on to have an impressive debut season. He made his international debut for Argentina aged 19 and by 1996 had caught the attention of several European clubs. In the summer of 1996 he joined Parma in Serie A and after a slow start quickly became a club legend winning the Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup before Lazio paid a then world record £35million for his services in 2000.
