That's two really poor games, I've got a feeling the next one will be a lot better - tipped Crotia after seeing their first game. Good that a home nation is in the next round, but I can't see them going any further with the performances they have showed so far.

I don't know about that, what is alarming me is that if England reach the next round The Plonker gets a new contract. I will not be to disappointed if we lose to Iceland and he goes. Sort of Win Win really

I think after watching that, I honestly think Wales could be one of the worst sides ever to make the last 8 of a major international tournament.

They beat Slovakia - Bale free kick was a mistake by the keeper, and they didn't play great anyway.

Lost to England - played absolutely awful, if I was Welsh I'd be ashamed of that performance, literally showed no desire of attacking, they just put Bale upfront and hoped he'd do something. Which he did. Because of a mistake.

They beat Russia - fair enough, they dominated them, but Russia are shite and were hopeless.

Then today, they've got a chance to put a good marker down, show everyone how good they are, go and dominate a shit side, who are basically League One level. But know, even Northern Ireland played better than them and Wales only won that because Bale made the goal and had a bit of luck with the OG.

Tactically they're awful, they literally just stick 5 defenders on, a holding midfielder, and defend, and wait for Bale to do something, fair enough it works, but I look forward to the day they take a beating from a proper good side, although that might be hard with the way they play when they're up against it.

Northern Ireland knew their game plan; Wales keep the ball, a few nice short passes, push the full backs on and whack it to one of them, so NI defended well, tracked the full backs, and Wales had nothing.

They've been lucky so far. Combine that with the best player in the tournament and that's not a bad recipe.

I have nothing against Wales, I hope all the home nations do well, but they really a poor side. And it annoys me that Coleman gets so much credit when he's a horrific manager.

And you've shown that by not just ranting away on an internet forum.

You don't win 3/4 games by being lucky.

Clearly.

Northern Ireland are a very well organised defensive unit, as are Wales. It was never going to be a thrilling game to watch.

You don't have to have the best squad or play the best football to be effective. Strong defence and arguably the player of the tournament so far in Bale, sounds like a decent recipe to me. They're a better side than the Greece of 04 I'd say

You clearly do.

A goal keeping mistake gifted them the win again a poor Slovakia side.

And an own goal gave them the win against a shit Northern Ireland team.

Wales scored twice against Slovakia and were the better side.

Wales beat Russia 3-0. Superb performance.

Own goals count. Created by a wonderful cross. McCauley could not do anything else. Robson-Kanu would have scored otherwise.

Wales winning the group has annoyed some people I guess.

I knew it was going to be an awful game. Fair play to Northern Ireland they know their strengths and limitations, and do their best.

As for Wales, whenever we're favourites for a game I get worried. We too are a limited side, but a combination of Bale's brilliance, solid teamwork, and clever management from Coleman have seen us through to the quarter-finals of a major tournament, winning 3 out of 4 games played, scoring 7 goals, with 4 different players in our one man team scoring. In the summer/Autumn of 2012 when the Welsh football team was on it's arse I'd have given my right arm to be where we are today.

Bringing on Robson-Kanu changed the game IMO, his main jobs for Wales are to run, stretch the defence and force them into errors. Which he did especially with the goal.

The quarter-finals were beyond my expectations (I was happy not to get humiliated in the group stages), but I hope our continued participation in this tournament continues to bring out bitter resentment of little old Wales from England fans, which judging by this thread and my Facebook feed is quite rife

Are Wales the most over hyped team ever? We saw how bad they were against England. Its as if Coleman suddenly thinks he's a tactical genius as well.

Over hyped?

No one is saying they're going to win it or even get to the semi finals from here are they?

Coleman has got his tactics spot on so far throughout qualifying and into the knockout stages.

Wales only narrowly lost against England and eventually finished above them in the group. For a side with such meagre resources that's a great achievement.

Yay. Sorry to our brothers Northern Ireland, it was a shame it had to be one of us. I think we have a huge number of things in common. We both have a great team spirit, and the two sets of fans totally value the efforts from the hard working players. Really, we are happy to be involved and are extracting every bit of enjoyment from it. The only difference between us is that we have Gareth Bale. And that was the difference today. It could easily have been a different outcome, but I am happy that we won a tight and difficult game.

Get fucked England.

We're not England, so no, we're not the most over-hyped team ever.

Do you think anyone in Wales would care if they won the cup and being labeled the worst team to win it? No

for a start they're better than the Greece side that won the Euros. Wales are a small nation they don't have the players to dominate teams and play beautiful football.

I'm not sure what the hatred for Wales is. Good luck to them.

Wales through the quarter finals and all their fans are interested in is England, love it.

A bit difficult not to when they were in the same group. Pretty sure I could do the same in the England thread.

It's funny you say that because your profile picture is an England player celebrating a goal against Wales.

England - Nilsson
Scotland - Saltire

We really need to elect a banter troll for Wales for this board. I wonder if Robbie Savage has a login.

Stop it. It's cringeworthy. Typical of a Man United fan, though.

Saltire vs Nilsson vs Mnb089mnb in a battle of the patriots, no-holds-barred banter match.

Do we have a patriotic Northern Irishman in our ranks?

Don't believe we do. Shall we invade their forum and tell them to get on here?

That's close enough, I'll be the angry patriotic Northern Irishman.

Scotland, England and Wales have got nothing on us, the pride of Britain - for as long as we remain a member of this putrid union.
