Akinde on his day is unstoppable. The problem is, those days weren’t seen as often as his transfer fee and alleged wage, would probably expect.

Quite frustrating at times and never got a lot of credit at Sincil Bank/LNER. As Luke says I don’t think we always utilised his full potential with the systems the Cowleys and Appleton have used. He was never likely to remain after us signing Hopper yesterday so its probably a decent bit of business for all parties Involved.

Hang on, are you guys suggesting we’ve paid actual money for him?

Edit: We haven’t paid money for anyone since Mrs Scally was brought in to assess the quality of our sausage rolls.

"Undisclosed fee", apparently

I'd expect six figures to be honest, similar to what we paid for Hopper. We paid a lot for him only 18 months ago, and our board are pretty shrewd.

I'm not sure the Cowleys ever played to his strengths so we never really saw the best of him. He was used as a lone striker/target man, which despite his size, really isn't his strongest suit. As a result I dont think we ever saw the best of him, or indeed what most of us expected. He did well despite that, and was key to us going up last year. His last game he also looked great, scored two late on from the bench.

He has his weaknesses - his touch can be pretty poor and he seems unable to strike a ball cleanly and with any power on a regular basis, and I'm not sure if he ever got over the serious injury he had at Barnet. He appears to have lost a bit of pace and composure maybe. That said, he could well thrive in a system that suits him better. His penalties are excellent, if you get used to his interesting technique.

From a business perspective it's hopefully a good deal for us - some cash recouped (think he may have been our record signing) and serious wages saved (again, think he might well have been our biggest earner).

I think unless Walker gets recalled we will probably stick with the 3 strikers for the rest of the season.
Spot on this, a lot of our 'fans' turned on him very quickly indeed, missed a chance at home to Crawley last season and he was never forgiven, even though other players missed similar and never got the stick he did.
Sadly some racist comments were aimed at him to by some of our knuckle draggers.
Best of luck to him and compared with the some of the utter rubbish we had between 2008 and 2016 this guy was England standard!

Liam Boyce off to hearts.
Circa 200k.
Contract up in June anyway and 6 grand a week off the wage bill.
Was never prolific but still class on his day. Never forget the header in injury time that sent Sunderland down and kept us up for another week.

Will he be a big miss for you?

I would say so yes. 14 goals this season, and although at times his finishing is wasteful, he is decent at this level. We have no replacement. We will falter from our 9th spot I reckon.
Fans can moan we are a selling club, but if more bothered to turn up on Match day, rather than just for big cup games, then maybe we could have afforded a new contract.
Good luck to the lad.

I don’t disagree with what you’ve said, but the vast majority of clubs are ‘selling clubs’ barring the PL big 5

Others expecting much movement ahead of Friday's deadline?

We're still looking at two or three positions - one will definitely be at CB unless we can work something out within the current squad where we can use an existing player as cover and bring in a first choice in another area i.e. our current LB can cover CB if needed but we'd then need to bring in a LB in case he has to cover.

Doesn't sound as though anything will be going down to Friday and wanting everything wrapped up by Thursday evening.

A signing at last Devante Cole from Wigan, strange contract length though only until the summer. We’ve also allowed Ian Lawlor to go on loan to Scunny but at least it’s a 24 hour recall. Supposedly we will be making more signings this week.

Allegedly we're after Jordan Graham from Wolves on loan. I'm sceptical purely because to accommodate him we'd have to drop another loanee out of the first team squad - O'Connor is currently injured but we're told it's not a bad one.

Other than that I think we could do with full back cover but that's only if the budget allows.

Sol said he's not expecting to sign anyone. 2 pro CB's.

2 pro ST's.

Fuck off Ron

Wants everything sorted by Wednesday he reckons especially on our season long trio of Walker, Morrell and Hesketh.
Hesketh can go, bang average but other two have been superb.

Bradford telegraph & Argus are suggesting that James Vaughan is about to join us on loan for the remainder of the season.
Would prefer Elon Doyle myself!

Isaac Hutchinson from Southend to us is a rumour that won't go away. Allegedly had one bid turned down which I find hard to believe because we haven't got any money to spend.

Don't think Doyle can play for anyone else this season having already played for both Bradford and Swindon. Would have to drop to the depths of non-league for a new club I believe.

Can't play for a third EFL team this season. Pretty sure we're getting him permanently. Should hopefully be announced tomorrow.

You's definitely are in for Humphrys from us came out in local paper now..
If you offer enough money he will definitely be sold but it will leave us with two teenagers as strikers. Next Tuesday history could repeat itself 7-1.

Will he play tonight? If so does that indicate we won't be signing him?

Saw you guys have signed Devante Cole so I'd guess Humphrys won't be joining you so assuming he will be playing but who knows this has been an awful window for us.

Can't believe that a) we could pay money for him or b) you'd let him go to fellow relegation fodder (although it looks like your chairman's just given up and is trying to cash in his chips).

In other news we've signed Joe Day in goal on loan from Cardiff, which probably means Nathan Trott is on his way back to West Ham.

Great move for Bishop, he's in the England U20 squad as well remember, there is a very good keeper in there I hope Manchester United can get him up to his full potential.

He had a shop window tonight and decided to just look completely unbothered for 99% of the time, so looks like you dodged a bullet.

1st bid in today for JCH from Charlton for1 mill + add ons. Weds,Boro Cardiff & QPR are all monitoring situation. Understand Rovers have stated they wish for certain Charlton players to be part of deal. I think he'll go for 1.5 Mil +add ons.

Very difficult to understand why anyone thinks he is worth that sort of money.

He scores in bursts, misses sitters then can't be bothered and disappears from matches, then gets injured.

He has everything, pace, strength and a cannonball shot, he should be a good Championship player, but he never was for us, he seems to lack the heart.

Nevertheless, I wish him well and I hope he proves me wrong and finally fulfills his potential.
