The FA Cup is a competition run by the FA. It has nothing to do with the EFL or its clubs. EFL clubs have to apply to enter. If they don’t like the arrangements then just don’t enter.

This, replays are hardly lucrative and you have to be lucky to get the payday but it's the principle of the whole thing.

This decision has been taken between the FA and premier league. That's 20 clubs consulted on a decision affecting over 700, and what's worse is the premier league aren't even involved in rounds 1 and 2.

It's quite clear who is currently running English football and the sooner an independent regulator comes in the better, not that I'd have much confidence in the government running it either but it's got to be better than the big 6 running football
There are two different scenarios that benefit EFL clubs and their fans.
Getting the PL team back to your home ground after 90mins will create a better chance of a Cup shock than extra time - with 9 PL subs on the bench. Not PL but at Luton last season we only had 1 fit striker (not unusual for Paul Hurst’s GTFC) and couldn’t fill the bench. Luton would surely have done us in ET.

And then the big payday from holding a PL team at home.

It’s not just about the big 6 being faced with replays, it’s about the knock on effect for their PL fixtures from having to reserve midweeks for potential replays for all PL clubs.

Id be quite content if the big 6 fecked off into a Euro Super League. We could bring the rest of PL clubs back into the EFL and promote a few more from the NL (apart from Bromley of course, and Scunthorpe - we can let Scunthorpe back in at some point, but they need suffer a bit longer).

If the Danes will be wiping the current debts and not looking to make their money back when they sell that's great for you, however FA Cup replays offer a very obvious and lucrative potential windfall for anyone trying to stay in the black. My point isn't about whether your model is sustainable or the debt is good or whether you are very lucky to have such wonderful owners. It's that not being arsed about it now because you don't see the benefit in your current setup is a short sighted view to take. For me, it's bizarre that any lower league club would not care about this.

Who said the club aren't arsed about this decision? Have they said they don't see the benefit in the current setup?

Personally I'm against it but one thing our owners are not is short sighted!! Quite the opposite. Just look at their infrastructure spend to date.

Well someone is telling porkies as the FA are claiming EFL clubs were involved in the discussions.

Not great when the powers that be are at each others throats.

Standard FA more backbone in a blade of grass.

Surely it would be better to keep replays and if you qualify for europe you’re exempt from the league cup (though then technically you’d never be able to defend your trophy)

The FA Cup is a competition run by the FA. It has nothing to do with the EFL or its clubs. EFL clubs have to apply to enter. If they don’t like the arrangements then just don’t enter.

In that case it's nothing to do with the premier league either yet this agreement was done between the FA and premier league. 20 clubs out of 700+ it affects. That's the point and yeah it would be great if we didn't enter and everyone boycotted it, but as we know the fa/premier league will just offer some money and the EFL and the rest will just say thank you and carry on just like with the EFL trophy.

Nobody has said that, however to remind what I initially responded to...
No one at Notts has given a flying one about the fa cup or any other cup competition for years so I hope we don’t pretend to get our panties in a spin about it.

That's just one fans view, that's all. Who incidentally will now no doubt be disappointed that the club have issued a statement.... pretending to care

He is referring to how the club have viewed the cup completions when in the National League, had next no interest when it comes to team selections and performances on the pitch. Maybe they wanted to focus all their efforts on promotion. Got there, 4th attempt.

Big teams like Bradford City last season would rather have not travelled down to Exeter for a replay. Perhaps it was them who had a word in the FA’s ear.

Keep laughing at all these takes saying "Let the Big 6 carry on and football will be better off for it"

Teams like Ipswich, Bolton etc wouldn't even share iFollow money with smaller clubs so what makes people think it'd be some sort of utopia without the Big 6? If anything, clubs would replace them in the power vacuum and we'd be having the same elitist arguments again.

It's a joke what's happened but the EFL and most the clubs have no backbone anyway so when the PL offer 30 pieces of silver as compensation the EFL clubs bar a small minority will soon shut up and take it.

Really becoming more and more disillusioned with the sport as each season progresses. I do wonder what the end game really is...

The super league, it will happen in one format or the other, that’s why UEFA have expanded the champions league to accommodate more top sides to keep them happy.

No footballing body, whether it be the EFL, FA or UEFA have control of the clubs.

It’s not a good look.
