What’s 80% of the goals Doyle has scored for you this season.

Fuck all, that’s what. I’ll still take being top rather than worrying about failing to make the POs.

That’s a huge blow for Swindon but as others have said, I wouldn’t be shocked if one of Doyle or Yates returned this month.

Just an example of how the January window can fuck teams over big time.

Always the problem when your front 2 are season long loans. Of course we ride the crest of the wave whilst they are playing for us, scoring and in form, but if they do well of course there is a huge risk they get recalled and this is now the challenge we face.

As someone else mentioned, at least we have 8 days to get some new players in. You would hope that Wellens, Jewell and Power will have had plans in place for the worst case scenario.

Its far from ideal, but i'm not reaching for the big red panic button yet.

Don’t worry about losing the scorers of 80% of your goals lads, at least your most important player Anthony Grant is all signed up.

Anthony Grant, since he has joined, really does make us tick and is therefore probably is our most important player.

Of course losing our 2 main goalscorers is frustrating, but not a lot we can do about it. Just have to hope that we have some irons in the fire. (and I don't mean signing West Ham players)

Glad everything is so hunky dory at Bradford City and you are blowing the pathetic league 2 opposition away week in, week out.

I did say Yates would be recalled.

Swindon create a lot of chances though so Twine and Woolery should easily be able to replace Doyle and Yates.

Its true that we do create chances, but Twine and Woolery are the kind that will score 1 in 30 so probably not the answer - before you say anything, I am fully aware that you are joshing.

If Swindon are looking for a striker then Harry Cardwell has got to be your man, currently out on loan at Chorley and he’s in such good form that he’s already matched the total amount of goals there that he’s scored here in the previous 2 and a half years. I reckon a cheeky six figure bid should be enough to tempt us to recall him and sell him to you. Anything we can do to help guys.

Be disappointed if Hope goes as he's really improved since Beech came in. He hasn't had a great season but is that mostly his own fault or the fault of Pressley and of the team as a whole?

Problem Swindon have is most players in January are over charged and as we are finding the wage requirements are being pushed up for loans hence we've stepped back as we don't feel we will get much value for money.

They got fairly lucky with Yates and Doyle as loans are always a gamble so will be a huge task to replace them. Will be interesting to see how this pans out for Swindon but sure they will be ok.

If you are creating plenty of chances then I'm not sure what Hope will bring as he's a chance creator rather than a chance taker.

I'm pretty certain Hope was planned to be brought in as a chance creator playing on the left of a 3 but with Yates now gone, and if we do sign Hope, it could be Hope, Woolery/Twine and Jaiyasemi in a front 3, which wouldn't be the end of the world.

The truth is, without Doyle we have taken 4 points out of 3 games. Bradford have 2 points from 3 games with Doyle and lost the benefit of a game in hand. Post Doyle we have pulled farther away from Bradford with Doyle.

You have to give Doyle time to bed in though, not easy switching clubs mid-season. Judging it on 3 games isn't enough, see how things are after 10 games before gloating.

Well, he has actually played 6 games for Bradford this season = 0 goals.

2 disallowed goals and an assist in 3 games - but yeah, he’s proper flopping this end. Missed an open net, too.

We may not play straight through him like yous at Swindon do, but honestly, some of the comments from Swindon fans are a bit salty to say the least.

Let’s see who you bring in and where you are come season end. I predicted you’d lose players and that you would gracefully fall away from the chasing pack. Let’s see how it all pans out, eh.

And the other side of the coin was Doyle returning to you, not scoring, Bowyer changing his formation and Bradford struggling.

Lost once in 12 or whatever it is. ‘You lot’ are fucked if/when we start scoring, as we rarely concede and have the best home form in the league.

The footballs been a dire watch all season, but we’re still there abouts. Says a lot about the rest of you, especially given the injuries we have/had.

That’s the truth.

When that happens come back and I’ll say well done.

Again, other side of the coin is 3 wins in 15

You would’ve enjoyed him putting the ball so far over the bar on Saturday (in the last minute to win the game) that only the top tier of our Kop prevented it from going into orbit. The Gary Bowyer effect it’s called.

So what's Bradford's plan for Doyle then?

If they were hoping that they could recall him and he'd start scoring for them then it doesn't seem to have worked but that's kind of what most people expected and Doyle making it clear before the recall that he'd prefer to stay with Swindon won't help matters. Is Bowyer still holding out hope that he'll start banging them in?

Sounds like people think it more likely they recalled him mainly to deprive Swindon of his goals, but since he can't (realistically) sign for anyone besides Swindon in January and will be able to leave for free in the summer, if he also doesn't start scoring for Bradford then they risk that being the only benefit they see from recalling him. They'll only see that benefit if they are able to close the gap to Swindon, if they don't do that, and Doyle doesn't start scoring for Bradford then there was no benefit to Bradford at all; they may even rue recalling him if Swindon start dropping points to teams around Bradford.

Most likely then they're hoping that they can sell him to Swindon and banking on his price tag increasing the closer we get to the end of the transfer window, particularly if Swindon are struggling, they were probably delighted to see Yates get recalled today. On the flipside Swindon haven't been struggling and may be in no rush to splash out on bringing him back, they may expect Bradford's asking price to fall as the end of the window approaches and Bradford become the more desperate of the two clubs to see some kind of deal struck. Being linked with moves for other forwards may be a way to make Bradford sweat.

Theoretically they could sell him to another club who would then loan him back to Swindon, but that's probably unlikely. Since he has less than six months remaining of his contract he's free to sign a pre-contract agreement with Swindon (or anyone) to sign for them on a free in summer.

If I were Swindon, that would be my course of action. Put about rumours that you're close to signing other strikers, continue to win games and ultimatley sign a pre-contract agreement. Then sign him before the window closes for a much smaller fee.

I saw that actually. That was an absolutely golden chance that he blew and then some!

Bowyer is between a rock and a hard place

Play him and he continues his scoreless run = twat

Return him to Swindon and he starts scoring again= twat

We've signed Hallam Hope permanently from Carlisle.

fuck sake... bit of a no-brainer for him though... what would you rather be doing? Being booed by your own fans fighting relegation or chasing a division title? At least the Carlisle fans got what they've always wanted.

Loads of Swindon fans already written him off. I'm standing by Wellens on this one. He's not done too badly with signings so far. Some of our dimwits seem to think Hallam Hope is being brought in with the task of scoring 35 goals on his own between now and May.
