fuck sake... bit of a no-brainer for him though... what would you rather be doing? Being booed by your own fans fighting relegation or chasing a division title? At least the Carlisle fans got what they've always wanted.

From what I have read about him, it seems his main goal scoring outlet has come from playing in a wide left position? I think he'll be employed left in a front 3 and sounds on paper a good singing.

Of course our moronic fans (mainly on twitter) have already written him off as useless! Woe is me!

Probably been reading our forum... a good number of our fans have never liked him. Even as he leaves, fans on twitter are commenting things like 'good riddance'. No huge reason for them to dislike him so much, they just think because he was a big name when we signed him he should be our best player in every game.

He's a difficult player to find the ideal position for as he's neither a winger nor a striker. Most would describe him as an inside forward of the type you might have heard of if you've read up on the history of football. 4-3-3 is where he does best though.

I think hope will do alright, he’s better in a confident winning team. He’ll be frustrating but he’ll get goals from out wide. He won’t be as much of a miss for us as he would have been last season because overall he’s been poor but as shoddy says that’s partly down to the team he’s in.

I’d hope we have a replacement lined up, otherwise it’s us further weakening what’s already the worst squad in the football league which would be crazy.

So what's Bradford's plan for Doyle then?

If they were hoping that they could recall him and he'd start scoring for them then it doesn't seem to have worked but that's kind of what most people expected and Doyle making it clear before the recall that he'd prefer to stay with Swindon won't help matters. Is Bowyer still holding out hope that he'll start banging them in?

Sounds like people think it more likely they recalled him mainly to deprive Swindon of his goals, but since he can't (realistically) sign for anyone besides Swindon in January and will be able to leave for free in the summer, if he also doesn't start scoring for Bradford then they risk that being the only benefit they see from recalling him. They'll only see that benefit if they are able to close the gap to Swindon, if they don't do that, and Doyle doesn't start scoring for Bradford then there was no benefit to Bradford at all; they may even rue recalling him if Swindon start dropping points to teams around Bradford.

Most likely then they're hoping that they can sell him to Swindon and banking on his price tag increasing the closer we get to the end of the transfer window, particularly if Swindon are struggling, they were probably delighted to see Yates get recalled today. On the flipside Swindon haven't been struggling and may be in no rush to splash out on bringing him back, they may expect Bradford's asking price to fall as the end of the window approaches and Bradford become the more desperate of the two clubs to see some kind of deal struck. Being linked with moves for other forwards may be a way to make Bradford sweat.

Theoretically they could sell him to another club who would then loan him back to Swindon, but that's probably unlikely. Since he has less than six months remaining of his contract he's free to sign a pre-contract agreement with Swindon (or anyone) to sign for them on a free in summer.

If I were Swindon, that would be my course of action. Put about rumours that you're close to signing other strikers, continue to win games and ultimatley sign a pre-contract agreement. Then sign him before the window closes for a much smaller fee.
Seems too many from outside the club are over thinking recalling him, especially the idea that we’re doing so simply to deprive Swindon. If ANY team had the leagues top scorer by a million miles out on loan (even more so to a divisional rival), they would be looking to recall him and hope those goals would benefit themselves and not said other team.
No one expected him to come back and score at the same rate, not us, not anyone. This idea I keep reading that we’re going to get on his back if he starts slowly is tosh. If a good manager gets the best out of their players, we have the total opposite; Bowyer’s set up stifles any attacking threat we might have and in turn no one can expect any of our players to either to do particularly well given the hand break is on every single week. The criticism by some (not all as some want you to believe) followed a modest goal return last season propped up with penalties and an overall ineffectiveness that some didn’t like. In truth he spent a lot of the time tracking back looking for the ball, had lots of play away from goal and this in no way helped his goal scoring, the exact same can be said for James Vaughan this season, notice the theme that good players suddenly start failing under our system.
In financial terms, should Swindon offer us a big fat cheque that’s worth more to us than keeping him then he’ll go. More likely he’ll stay and move somewhere in the summer in the mean time we have what has been the most in form player in the league which anyone would want. For Bowyer not to accommodate him in the starting 11 given what he’s achieved, just isn’t going to happen, we (Bowyer), has to do a significantly better job to get more out of him.
As has been mentioned he’s had very little to go off so far, on Saturday he had one disallowed, set up the goal and another which Vaughan cocked up, I can’t comment on the away games but I think he had another ruled out last night too.

Forgetting all the niggly comments regarding this, I can honestly see him returning next week. Once Donaldson is fit and Vaughan has finished his suspension. It obviously hasn’t improved Bradford - probably worse results wise. Will the £200,000 Bradford would be better off be worth letting Doyle go?

I'm sure we have replacements in mind... the problem is when Holsworth tries to negotiate with them.

Part of the problem with hope this season is his best position is left of a front 3, but Harry McKirdy has completely out performed him there, so when Hope has played it’s often been as the CF or on the right.

I’d take £200k for him, given we paid £350k for him a year or so prior.

I tend to agree, i think performances/results will significantly improve once Donaldson is fit. We’ve really missed that presence upfront.

Bowyer is between a rock and a hard place

Play him and he continues his scoreless run = twat

Return him to Swindon and he starts scoring again= twat
To be fair Bowyer is a twat full stop.

Always baffles me when opposition fans say things like this about Bowyer. The guy is probably the most likeable managers out there. That and the fact that he doesn’t have a bad word to say about anyone or anything. Infact, he’s complimentary of most sides - he was bigging up Morecambe the other week - I shit you not.

His dull boring monotone voice is just how I imagine The_Viking_Magpie to sound which may be why I associate it with a twat to be fair.

I remember many fans had a problem with Flitcroft last season despite him being a nice bloke, only people that had a legitimate reason to hate him were Mansfield fans for bottling it post-Christmas, I suppose he’s just one of them comes across in a certain negative way.

I reckon Wellens will get the best out of Hope., , Anderson and Woolery were on their way out of club at the beginning of the season, but what has been said and done on the training ground or dressing room has had an impact on Anderson especially, he has become an integral part of the team.

We had him for three games (1 goal) in 2014, but like the majority of ex players, he always seems to score against us...

Meh. Not great going forward, hasn’t played much this season. We won’t miss him. He’s ok defensively but he’s nothing to shout about imo. Had some injury problems whilst he’s been here.

Jerry Yates update for Swindon fans.

It pretty much says what we were all thinking.

After recalling Jerry Yates from his loan spell at Sky Bet League Two table-toppers Swindon Town, Paul Warne admits that the striker’s impressive goal scoring record with the Robins was enough to warrant a closer look at him.

Now back at Roundwood and joining up with the rest of the Millers’ squad ahead of this weekend’s trip to Peterborough United, the 23-year-old could feature at London Road.

"He's had an unbelievable season so far. We always knew that he could score goals and that is why we wanted him to go out,” Warne told www.themillers.co.uk.

"I might let him back out in this window or I might decide to keep him. The recall in the loan deal just gives us a chance to have an up close and personal look at his progress at the training ground, alongside what we already have in the building.

"I'll sit down with Jerry and we'll discuss where we feel we're both at but ultimately the decision will be the one that is best for our club.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Richie Wellens and the staff down at Swindon, who have really helped Jerry with the next stage of his development.

"I know he's loved his time down there. He's managed to score goals and make a massive impact on their team and that's exactly what we asked Jerry to go out and try to do."

Somehow we're still the ones most affected by Yates' recall.

Thanks Millerbri.

Hopefully we'll be able to get him back on loan again. It could be that they are looking to extend his contract before sending him back on loan?

We have him playing wing-back and really he is a full back. Is reasonable defensively, but can't cross a ball which is kind of important in a wing back. Reasonably nippy.

Glad to get him off the wage bill, not because he is bad, just he is not fitted to our system and we have three people ahead of him. In a traditional back four he will do much better.

I'm sure Bowyer is hoping that Doyle can score goals for Bradford, otherwise he wouldn't be starting for them, but I'm also sure there's been some thinking among the Bradford management about how they can get the most money from him in the likely scenario where they sell him to Swindon.

I think we were planning to sign Hope anyway. After the game on Saturday Wellens said we had a 'forward thinking player' close to signing so I reckon it's been in the works for a while. There was a tentative link between us and him in the summer as well.

They pretty much said the same last season. We were hopeful of getting him back right until 11pm on deadline day, then they ended up keeping him for the season. That was in the championship so I’d say they’ll be even more likely to keep him being in League 1.
