The only problem with the final is that although it wasn't all over at 2-0 it was definitely premature ejaculation.
All the hype before was about Kamara and his scoring record, then inside 6 minutes it looks like game over thanks initially some goalkeeping that surely needs to be scrutinised as a possible player on the take. But then his opposite number probably tried as hard as he could to level up the blunders by not catching a ball that was about as close as you could get to forced into his hands. Almost a sympathy fuck up. After that the game kind of just trudged on.

NYC are 3-0 down after 40 minutes. Trying to outdo the 7-0 from May.

Scratch that, goal of the season contender from McNamara.

It bothers me for some reason that not every team has played the same amount of matches at any given time. Should have organized matchweeks.

Depends if Sigi is manager or not....

Been following the Sounders since the USL days, safe to say they haven't had to endure a season like this for a long time. I was at the two games against the two New York teams and they were both dire but yesterday was just the icing on the cake, Stefan Frei aside (poor damn bloke) it was abject beyond belief. Sigi needs to go, Lagerwey needs to go, both ASAP, basically tell the players they're in last chance saloon and then review the likes of Dempsey, Alonso, Ivanschitz etc. in the offseason, but 4 or 5 at least will have to go for sure.

Sadly I can see them persevering with it as it is until the end of the season and it's more than likely only going to get uglier.

Yeah, Sounders are awful this year. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I don't get to see too much any more, but catch a few highlights so I'm not especially informed.

Among others, Martins' departure and Dempsey no longer being quite good enough to win games on his own means we don't have the attacking threat that we used to. The defence has been shaky for as long as I've been paying attention, but that is a league-wide issue. There are very few positives to take from the current squad, but Jordan Morris is one of them and probably the guy that the team needs to be built around in the near future.

This season is a total write off, there has to be big chances come October. LA will beat us, they always seem to.

First part: Probably
Second part: Nope, the only match I recall winning against you was when Robbie Keane scored three goals in the first half a couple years ago.

P29, 14 LA wins, 9 Seattle, 6 draws, apparently. Surprised Seattle have won that many to be honest, like Benji says it has always felt like secret agent Sigi activates when LA roll into town, probably won all the important games.

Martins loss was a big blow but it's clear there's a deeper underlying issue. Dempsey is still playing pretty well for the USMNT so I'd be willing to give him another chance under another manager but he just looks thoroughly dejected with it all. Ozzie probably deserves one more shot too, Evans needs to be moved back into midfield and if Torres can't get fit then they need to offload him and get in a new starting calibre CB. Valdez, waste of a DP space, Mears needs to go, Friberg hasn't done much since returning, Gomez never should have been signed in the first place and Ivanschitz is a bit of a square peg, so there's a few off the books.

Frei, New RB, Marshall, Torres/New CB, Jones, Evans, Alonso, Lodeiro, Dempsey, Roldan/New CAM, Morris, in a 4-2-3-1 would be a decent starting base for next season if you can offload Valdez and fill one of those three new spots with another new DP to go with hopefully Lodeiro, but there's a couple in there who could quite justifiably be let go.

Has to be with a new manager though, and if he could start working on it ASAP it would be all the more beneficial....

So it's been a big day. Sigi is a gonner and Lodeiro arrives as DP. It'll be interesting to see who they have in mind for to replace Sigi Schmid. Following Seattle has been eerily similar to when I followed Cardiff. Always in and around the play-offs, but never had enough to win them. Although at least we won the Supporters' Shield a couple of years ago.

As for Lodeiro, don't know anything about him really, but his run of clubs is pretty promising. Boca, Corinthians and Ajax are all big teams who hopefully took a chance on him for a good reason. Another positive is that it isn't like he has any instant pressure since the season is over for Seattle.

Seattle sounders destroying LA right now. Lodeiro has been an amazing signing, and JoMo is coming into his own.

Seems like whenever I watch LA they fail miserably. I watch a match for the first time in about 3 months and we lose our first home game of the season.

Anyway, credit to the ref and hope that that assist is his first of many.

Dempsey out for the season with an irregular heartbeat. That will probably be it for his career sadly.

Just a heads up. Seattle v RSL is going to be good. It's 1-1 after 4 mins, the last game of the regular season and Seattle need a win to guarantee a play off spot.

Three of the big names knocked out of the play-offs in one fell swoop. NYC were utterly destroyed by Toronto, who are my pick to win the whole thing. Unbelievable that Seattle could still win their conference if you look at the situation up until Sigi Schmid was sacked.

Delighted for all the guys I know in Seattle, especially the ones who were there pre-MLS, been a long time coming this, hopefully Montreal can do the business and get the final in front of 70,000 in Seattle.

An MLS final in Seattle would be brilliant for the league. Nicolas Lodeiro, ala Giovinco, are the types of signings the MLS needs to continue improving its level. Obviously more homegrown talent, too, but that has steady improved—see FC Dallas—and academies are still relatively young. It takes time, and external variables re: youth participation, for this infrastructure to become a success. Lodeiro, Giovinvo, and Piatti are examples the MLS should be looking at.

Predictions for winner anyone?

I hope Toronto or Montreal but expect Seattle.

Stefan Frei won the MLS Cup for Seattle! Absolutely unbelievable that this Sounders team has succeeded when the ones from a few years ago have failed. Especially given the predicament when Schmid was fired.

Apparently Fox cut to an advert during the shootout. And they say Americans don't get football.

Fanendo Adi looked like a peak age Dider Drogba in the highlights of that game.

I believe so, it was on their official Twitter page. I maybe should've posted that link instead but thought this one would embed.
