So, an update. Just one short of 40 goals in all competitions now and just 3 goals needed in his remaining 6 league games (assuming he plays them all) to take the 38 game record. Surely it will be done unless he hits a big drought.

I also wouldn't rule out him overtaking Shearer's and Cole's 34 goal record from the old 42 game Premiership season in the process.

Surely the best buy of the last 3 decades based on a debut season.

Bit much that Pags. He's scored lots of goals, but what you won?
Ronaldo made Man Utd win. And win big. If 'pool go on to do that in future seasons, or CL this, then thats a debate. Right now its not.

I thought it was obvious I was referring to his individual quality and performances, rather than what the club he is playing for has won either directly or indirectly from his input.

Also, just seen only 3 players in the league have more assists than Salah.

But they arent mutually exclusive, otherwise its only ever goalscorers that can ever be considered the best signings in that case.
Take Kante for example. Less than 6mill for the best player of his type on the planet playing a pivotal role in a title win and producing the same for a different club a year later to prove his worth further.
Only got about 2 goals though.

That isn't really true, unless you're saying the only way of judging a player is if their contribution is as discernable as goal scoring is for a striker. It might be less obvious for other players but a defender for example can be the best in the league despite their team conceding more goals than another or their team not winning anything.

I take your point though that the claim might have been a little OTT.

It's gonna be even worse when they win the treble next season.

Salah has been better than Cristiano Ronaldo this season.

You've scored 36 goals in 44 games this season, Lionel. Salah has 37 in 41. On goals alone, he's been superior.

Were I Egyptian, facing the political and social pressure Salah was likely under at the time, I'd fake a cold for both matches tbh.

salah could really win the ballon d'or
unfortunately I think the outcome of the Champions League will be decisive

who would have thought that he would have faced his former club, in such an important challenge, just a year after his transfer

if liverpool manage to win the cl he'd be in with a shout. depends how the world cup goes, if one of the nations with a "superstar" wins it then that player will more than likely win the award. 4 out of the last 7 world cup years have seen a player from the winning nation getting the award. and iniesta was robbed in 2010 imo. only the dominance of messi and ronaldo has upset that recent tradition.

who gives a fuck anyway? it's voted on by a bunch of journalists who obviously don't watch paul dummett bully the fuck out of right wingers every week. as far as i'm concerned their opinions are worthless until his greatness is acknowledged.

Salah has taken a lot of shots today, looks very eager to score and not in an especially good way. He hasn't scored yet but might claim Manés goal unless Kane touched it.
