If our game goes ahead, we need to win this one. McCallum will be back so despite our unbeaten run ending at Solihull last week, we should be confident of picking up a vital 3 points.

If only they could have planned sensibly and put in enough effort to get to Barrow for 2.56pm for the original 3pm kick off on non-league day.....

That was only the kit man :)

Strongest line up of the season for us.

Conditions aren’t going to be much fun but this is a great opportunity for us to show what we’re made of.

The sun has just come out. The pitch looks fine now.

Pathetic club, our pitch is over used but in superb condition tonight. Surely there comes a point when you lot get fined or forced to play at another ground fit for purpose? Teams get denied promotion for not having enough seats they won’t fill yet teams can have a shit pitch? Crap rules.

Can’t do anything about it until the end of the season. Drainage under the pitch is blocked and you can’t sort that without pulling it up.

Of course there’s arguments as to what we should do/be doing to conserve or manage it, as well as arguments about how it’s even got to this state (both valid). But if it rains as much as it has done recently + continues during a match like it was - not much we can do unfortunately and frustratingly.

So annoying though as I really fancied us with that lineup. Half of them will get injured before Saturday now.

Fair points. Pitch has been really, really poorly maintained. However these issues have been unavoidable for months now - was inevitable. Very frustrating for everyone involved, just as much us, trust me.

In fairness our pitch has only been bad this season and I’m hoping that Kleanthous will get us a Desso pitch in the close season. There’s not much that can be done at the moment except hope for a long period of dry weather. It’s been a mild yet very wet winter so far.
It’s a shame as we were well on top and I fancied us to go on and win the match in the second half but the middle of the pitch was not playable and continuing in that weather would have severely damaged it.

All excuses are poor we’ve all had the rain and have more than one team play on it, surely to help things the other teams should be banned from playing on it but they’re not. Money talks for your chairman it seems but we all knew that when he moved you miles down the road, shame as I loved our visits to underhill.

I can guarantee you that you don’t know the ins and outs surrounding the move to the Hive, so while your judgement on the chairman is absolutely valid the move to the Hive is not one of them.

As I said our drainage is blocked. I’m not sure how or why that happened (or was allowed to happen - I suspect the chairman cut corners on the grounds keeping OR we had it booked out too often over there summer to leave enough time to do any necessary work) and do here we are in this situation.

It’s just shit. But rationally we can’t get any more annoyed at this as we did earlier this season, as there’s nothing that can be done now.

Given the forecast, I think you have to question the logic behind trying to get the game on tonight. The pitch must be utterly ruined now.

I’ve not seen any official comment from the club about the root cause. But I can be absolutely certain it involves penny pinching from TK.

He would’ve known there was an issue and took a gamble - get paid to host games on it like the Ghana(?) internationals etc over the summer or lose that income and instead get the pitch dig up and relaid. Unfortunately no one could’ve foreseen how bad the weather has been and it’s really taken a beating, not helped by hosting the 2 women’s teams as well (although I do understand with us wanting Spurs here as they will pay nicely).

Penny pinching gamble that no one would’ve batted an eye lid at at all had it gone well, but now looks absolutely stupid given the poor weather.

Arsenal paid for Boreham Wood's desso pitch, so Spurs should pay for us to have one.
