That elusive away win doesn’t come - we’ve only been waiting 4 months.

The conditions have affected this game more than I thought. Cambridge struggled in the first half and so have we in the second. Conditions aside, I feel we’ll have pushed Cambridge to one side with relative ease.

Massive win for Cambridge judging by these scenes.

A 1-1 away draw at Oldham is alright I suppose. Better then nothing and we played ok. Lots of possession, conceded another soft goal but got a deserved equaliser near the end.

Newport didn’t even create half a chance, absolutely dreadful game.

Another fully deserved win for the mighty U's. I'm not getting carried away or anything (we've been there before when Dunne took over from Derry the clown) but I've been saying for months now that we do have a half decent side, a side that was badly managed by Calderwood and the dull ultra cautious football he was so fond of. And his belief in starting 34 year olds instead of raw but promising and hungry young lads.

Just need to appoint the right manager now so we can be there or thereabouts next year.

Special mention to the Ref Kettle, must be a Vale thing, because I thought he was excellent, hardly even noticed he was on the pitch, tried to let the game flow and only blowing for obvious fouls, didn't put a foot wrong.

He did a Vale game earlier in the season against one of them southern cheating sides and did very well but Tuesday he was back to his worst.

That was a terrible game of football as expected but very happy with the 1-0 win. Newport didn't seem very motivated until the last 10 minutes.

Tremendous result. Another valuable point closer to safety.

Derek Adams reckons Morecambe missed umpteen chances and should have won. Haha.

Finally back, our most complete performance of the season and all the more sweeter that we did it without six or seven key players, missed Oyeleke, Taylor, Pope, Gibbons, Clarke and Amoo (Manny on the bench but not ready to start)

We played a decent first half taking the lead either side of a couple of misses, Colchester with the wind then had plenty of pressure from set pieces.

Second half we took full advantage with the wind and Colchester struggled to get out, Cullen scored a superb goal with a super pass to take out their man and put him one on one. Once we went 2-0 up Colchester were gone and didn’t have any urgency or real threat and looked like they just wanted it done with.

Cullens third was a classy hit cutting inside and bending a beauty in off the post, then we turned it on with some superb football and managed the game out well.

9 points in a week, all the top ten beaten and are flying since Christmas. It’s been a superb few weeks and now we’ve gone from play off outsiders to top 6.

Vale Park is buzzing and after three dire years I’m glad to finally have my club back!

Enjoyable win against those cloggers. One of the more satisfying results of the season in fairness.

Got booted out of Walsall after 24 minutes so as far as I’m concerned we won 1-0

Dragged to a speakeasy in London and force-fed Gin in copious quantities.

Seems like I got the best deal as the game at Crawley was win by the wind and rain by all accounts. Maybe Carlisle just sharing it by some accounts.

I'm not surprised the elusive away win hasn't come. You had the wind in the first half but your keeper was time wasting non stop after you went 1-0 up. Knowing how difficult it was going to be in the second half you should have been going for it when you had the wind in your sails.

It really was a game of two halves and we battered you second half. Bradford disappointment me given the money spent on your squad and from what I saw today you won't finish it the play off's.

Any win in the 91'st minute is always a massive win, hence the scenes. Up the U's!!!!!!

We were superb today. All over colchester today. It was a wonderful performance second half. We played some great football too in terrible conditions and Colchester had no answer. Noble had to swap wings but didn't get any joy from either.

Enjoyed that, we looked full of effort and endeavour and was the better side today.

knibbs tackle for the 2nd is what’s been lacking for so long, he just wanted it more, long may the continue.

Up the u’s

Askey got you going now then?

Like I said at the time of his appointment, dont believe fooled into his quiet boring misdemeanor that will come across in all his interviews. Given a little bit of time and he gets teams playing. (But there will always be a random battering in there as well for some reason!!)

He’s got us winning, he’s had time and gradually we’ve started turning all those early season draws into wins, shame we threw away so many wins early doors or we’d be up for auto but he has a system, he got rid of the bad eggs in the dressing room over the summer and we’ve got a close dressing room.

He’s done most of this without Oyeleke for the season, Taylor for six weeks etc.

Best manager we’ve had since Micky Adams (not hard mind) and believe with him and Kevan in charge we will push on if not this but next.

A year ago today we began the protests against Smurf... what a year it’s been!

Done a very good job overall I'd say. The team is a million times fitter than last season for a start and don't stop running all game. In addition to that compared to the rabble we looked under Aspin everyone in the Vale team understands what role they are meant to play whereas I doubt previously we even spent any time on that on the training pitch. Also like the way he is always very measured, never gets too high or low whatever the result and it reflects in the players.

Still think he needs to make better use of his subs bench at times but I suspect that isn't going to change with him.

Must echo what's already been said but Trevor Kettle was one of the best refs we've had this season and I do believe there were NO cards.

As I’ve said I’ve never known us to have an issue with him and used to wonder what the fuss was about when fans were losing it about him! Sure we had him earlier in the season and don’t recall a problem but he just seems to have these games where he totally loses the plot. Referee we had today wasn’t much better mind, booked for any foul and even booked Burgess when he was kicked out at!

Lost again to the better side today, a shame we couldn't make the most on our fortunate opening goal to be honest, as we may have got something from the game had we managed to hold a lead until half time.

Second half, I thought we defended well enough against the wind but our ball retention was beyond woeful and we ended the game with one fit striker on the pitch and various players out of position and Cheltenhams possession dominance was eventually rewarded.

One game too many for us against one of the leagues better sides, Alex Palmer owes his team mates one for getting them back into the game so quickly after his error.

Pitch in very good condition I must say.

Not sure why there is a lack of argyle and Crewe fans on here tonight. Crewe must wonder how they’ve lost that one after watching the highlights. How they have not got an early penalty I don’t know and that miss by porter. Blimey, come back Ronnie rosenthal. All is forgiven!!

Far too defensive first half and set up all wrong as the home team second half we decided to have a go and won it late if ever there was a game of two halves that was it today.

Having seen the highlights that ball from Worrall to Cullen for our second goal was a thing of beauty. Won't see many better than that. Colchester should be kicking themselves for our first goal, very slack to give away possession like that and their keeper had a bit of a mare on Conlons shot also.

I was sat in the Paddock in line with Cullen and said at the time, KDB plays that ball everyone is raving about it. Incredible vision.

Owen Evans. It has to be one of the funniest things I've witnessed. The ball seemed to go into the goal in slow motion.

Can only reiterate what CTFCfan and the Orient fans have said. We were the better team in the first half against the wind, then in the second half with the wind we completely dominated. Seemed like it wasn't going to be our day, but a fantastic ball from Broom and a fantastic diving header from Reuben Reid got our reward.

4 home wins in a row now, and two more home games next Saturday and Tuesday against Mansfield and Northampton. A chance for us to set up camp in the playoffs and possibly even make an unlikely assault on the automatic positions.
