Another midweek game against Millwall, can't remember the last time we played them on a Saturday, must be a good 5 or so years since. Important game for us, on paper it's a more winnable game than Brentford but so were Wigan and Hull, we are desperate to get that first league win on the board to get rid of some of the doom and gloom and with 2 home matches in a row we have an opportunity of doing it. Think we're struggling for fitness on a few players still, Hooper, Lee and Abdi will probably never be seen again, Joao and Reach are also on the injury list but hope at least one of them is fit for tomorrow, and Hutchinson went off at half time on Sunday which I suspect was an injury. Millwall are a strong side and we'll need to show some bottle unlike the second half on Sunday.

Off topic but I have heard that Kieran Lee may be forced to retire. Would be an awful shame as he's clearly very talented.

We miss him so much in midfield, he's the best we have at what he does, box to box midfielder keeps the game ticking and scores goals. He had an issue with his hip the season we finished 4th and had to have surgery, was told he'd miss the entire season then all of a sudden Carlos chucked him straight back in for the run in, playing every minute and he broke down again. Think that's what's totally ruined him, shocking management.

We went to the same school (he's younger) so have some of the same circle of friends. Doesn't sound too good for him that's for sure.

We could do with four points from this and Rotherham, as we have to play Swansea and Leeds in the next few weeks. We have a poor record at Hillsborough, though, and despite deserving our points total so far we’ve not looked at all convincing after half time in any of the matches we’ve played.

That was as poor as I’ve seen us since we were promoted — ie. as poor as we’ve been in the 2nd half of all of our games so far, but spread out over 70 mins this time (better last 20 but too late by then). Fair play to Wednesday, they looked short of confidence but dug in and held out for the win. Worryingly for us, it looks like our first choice midfield partnership of Williams and Saville are injured, and we don’t have much beyond the pair. Looks like our small squad might be catching up with us this season.

Pretty poor game to watch, bannans goal was superb, millwall broke well but the final product was pitiful. Standard shit championship game really like we all have most the season.

First league win on the board, we made harder work of that than we needed too in the end giving away a sloppy goal, at 2-0 Millwall never looked likely and the goal gave them a lift. They are a hard working organised side and they'll upset a few teams again this season, it's very back to front but they get a lot of runners coming in from midfield to play off the second ball. As for us the players looked more comfortable switching from a 5-3-2 to more of a 4-4-2 diamond it looked like, some good performances a special mention to Matt Penney at left back. While everyone was clamouring about George Hirst there were a few who said this kid was by far our best prospect and he didn't look out of place tonight. Barry Bannan was our best player yet again, get him a new contract ASAP. Much needed win and looking forward to the Ipswich game now on Saturday.

Just saw Bannan's goal, absolute beauty. If he can add a few goals and assists to his game this season I fancy a club like Burnley to snap him up.

When's Hooper back? Such a shame his career's been put on hold, probably my favourite striker in the league to watch.

Barry's shooting is probably up there with the worst I've ever seen from a Wednesday midfielder, every single time he goes to shoot I'm hoping he passes because it ends up in row z. Like you say though if he scored a few more we'd be really struggling to hold onto him, out of contract next summer so we need to tie him down or we risk losing him for peanuts or nothing at all.

Hooper is a class above, sadly he always picks up an injury every season that keeps him out for a few months and as he gets older it won't get any better, been out since Boxing Day. Last we heard he was back in training and that was a couple of weeks ago, gone quiet since.
