Just wondering if we are the only club struggling to put a side together? I know its still early, but some teams seem to have started early this year.

Just 1 signing so far and probably need another 10 or more. So whats your thoughts on your team?

Well we're going to need a whole new defence if we want to achieve better than the play offs, we are also going to need 2 new goalkeepers and 3 new strikers.

We were about to sign a couple of outstanding players, but them galacticos Mansfield hijacked the deal from us and got them before we could, that fat bastard doing what he does.

Seems to be quiet full stop (unless you're Mansfield).

We've not signed anyone. Just four contract renewals (3 out of contract and 1 an extension). Waiting on three others. Then there's the Bradley Wood thing.

We didn't make our first signing until mid-June last year and two who you'd include in our strongest XI last season weren't signed up until the final week of pre-season so I'm not particularly worried.

We still need a left back and centre back at the minimum, a striker and goalkeeper also needed if we're to be competitive.

Our signings don't look horrendous but they're completely unproven. At the minute I would definitely say our squad is weaker than last season, but a couple of big signings can change that. I'm not holding my breath though. I think we're looking at a mediocre season.

Our signings look pretty terrible, imo. Danny Rose's brother, someone who was crap at Vale and a Nike Academy graduate? Not hopeful about this season.

What's the Bradley Wood thing?
He got done drink driving earlier in the season, that's out in the open, but apparently there are one or two other things with the FA involved in one of those.

Yeah I'm completely underwhelmed by them but they are all very young. Hopefully they can shine, or at least show glimpses of talent, but if they are here to be full on starters then it's such a massive gamble and one I don't see working out too well.

EDIT: And now Rhys Browne has just left us for Yeovil, so that's another winger we need. All looking very shit atm.

Need a back up striker in case Akinfenwa or Kashket get injured, we still have Paul Hayes on the last year of his contract :ffs: We've offered Arron Pierre an improved contract which all Wycombe fans want to see him sign but if not we'll need another central defender.

We were told three weeks ago signings were imminent. Rossi had said a few players should be signed up within the week. Since then we've heard nothing, not even a rumour.

The only a player there's been a slight link with is James Alabi

We don't need much, goalkeeper, right back, central midfielder, winger and a striker.

Don't know what to expect in terms of quality, we've spent quite a bit of money recently and the chairman has promised more money spent and some real landmark signings at that. Believe it when I see it

James alabi was on loan with us a couple of years ago. I think he would be best described as a really, really poor version of Akinde-pen. Seems to have done ok with Chester more recently though to be fair.

See what I did there?

No signings so far and very light on rumours too. Luckily all of our key players are contracted for next season so we're in a good place.

We need a right back (Jack Stacey hopefully), a left back (ideally Dean Moxey but possibly wishful thinking) and if possible a midfielder. Otherwise we're good to go.

Of course, we may very well lose Ollie Watkins at some point soon but that would be for serious £££ so wouldn't be all bad.

We have about 15 professionals signed.

We've made no new signings apart from youth graduates. We desperately need signings to improve us because as I said back end of last season the current squad would put us in a relegation battle next season. The fact we've lost Jabo Ibehre weakens us as well.

Big few weeks ahead, but not looking good for us.... a season of struggle ahead of us I fear.

If it is going to happen, I really hope it happens soon. Don't want to see us lose him around August time as that could mess us up big time.

Must admit I thought he'd be gone already, and rumours on the subject are fairly light at the moment...

Yep, I've got this horrible feeling he will leave on deadline day, leaving us no time to get a replacement.

There's been a handful of twitter rumours but very little of any substance but I'm sure he will go this window

Dave Artell has said he wants 3 or 4 more faces to complement the 3 experienced additions we've snapped up permanently in Bowery, Raynes and Porter.

We're in definite need of a RB and another CB. If George Ray doesn't sign his contract (I still expect him to sign) then we'll need 2 CBs. We also need an experienced holding midfielder and a CAM in the Callum Cooke mould to play behind the striker.

We're in a much better position under Artell than we've been for the last few years under the inept Davis that's for sure.

Bar James Collins its been pretty quiet rumours wise for us and even that has quietened down from a week or so ago. Both signings we have made have been a bit left field and were not, to my knowledge at least, touted to be joining us which to me has fed in to the rather low key summer thus far. In general seems a lot quieter than previous seasons but then again we arent doing a big squad overhaul for the first time in a while seemingly. Would like to see us linked with some decent midfield players though, if just to keep my interest piqued at the very least!

If I were in charge I'd aim to bring in a striker that can play off our two big men to give us another option.

I'd also want to upgrade our left back and bring in a central midfielder who is comfortable on the ball.

We probably still need another centre back. Someone mobile to partner legge.

That said, the club seem happy with what we've got and have said we'll only revisit signings after preseason starts. I'll be surprised if we get more than the centre half. Possibly a forward on loan if Corr is released.

We need a striker and are chasing Brad Inman other than that, on paper we would be comfortable in league one. We just need to get there first

Goalkeepers and defence sorted. We look strong with signings like Diamond and Mirfin then Haydn White has signed after being impressive on loan last season.

Apparently Evans is still after another midfielder. No idea who, Probably someone else Carlisle are after.

We are after a striker too, after that we'll be done. On paper it's a strong squad and one you'd expect to be challenging. Let's hope we gel early. Would be typical Mansfield though to have our best squad in years, a manager who has done it how many times and still fail.

So far we've brought in:

GK Liam O'Brien
CB Rod McDonald
CB Dominic Hyam
CM Liam Kelly
CM Michael Doyle
ST Marc McNulty

We've apparently agreed a fee for Peterborough RB Michael Smith and are still after James Collins. Robins has said that he wants to bring in another 6 on top of those already signed but I guess it depends on who is sold before the start of the season. Cian Harries, Chris Camwell and Ben Stevenson have all been linked with moves away as has Jordan Willis. Jordan Turnbull and Stuart Beavon apparently have relegation release clauses which allow them to leave if they want to but there's been no movement on that front yet. Kyel Reid has also been told he can leave if anybody will have him. Currently, our starting xi looks like:

GK O'Brien

RB Dion Kelly-Evans (Will be Smith when he signs)
CB Willis
CB Turnbull/McDonald/Harries
LB Stokes

RM Jodi Jones
CM Stevenson/Kelly
CM Doyle
LM ?

ST Beavon
ST McNulty

Subs:

Kwame Thomas
George Thomas (If he signs a new deal)
Lee Burge
Dominic Hyam
Devon Kelly-Evans
Callum Maycock
Darragh Leahy.

The squad is taking shape nicely and I see us as challengers but it still needs depth.

Tbf, I don't really panic over not signing players early. We know they're coming - we've only got 10 players at the moment, so expecting another 10.

I'm relaxed cos we've eventually got a proper manager at last, Power realising he's fucking useless at recruiting and the majority of the fan base seem to have switched from wrist slashing mode to mildly optimistic.

We should be there or thereabouts at the end

We've intimated that we'll be signing around 4 more players, but that number is flexible either way. And it doesn't rely on others leaving either. I think we probably have a fair chunk of the budget left with the amount of money we've probably freed up with the players leaving this summer.

Looking how we would line up this season:

Starting XI
GK Marek Stech
CB Alan Sheehan
CB Scott Cuthbert
CB Glen Rea
RWB James Justin
LWB Dan Potts
CM Cameron McGeehan
CM New Midfielder
CM Alan McCormack
FW New Striker
FW Danny Hylton

Subs:
Craig King (or new goalkeeper if we decide to go down that route)
Johnny Mullins
Pelly Ruddock
New Winger
Lawson D'Ath
Isaac Vassell
Jack Marriott

Plus in reserve:
New Full Back, Olly Lee, Jordan Cook, Luke Gambin, Jack Senior

Development Players:
Tyreeq Bakinson, Akin Famewo, Frankie Musonda, Kevan Cotter

Numbers wise that would probably be just about right.

I reckon we should sign Luke Berry as he would be perfect to play off the big men. Scored 22 goals last season doing just that.

This. Flitcroft will have the budget to build a top 7 League 2 side and confident he will do. Just a waiting game for us fans.

We haven't signed anybody yet but I'm sure we never start signing anyone until the end of June/start of July anyway, so it's nothing unusual. After last season I would expect us to be aiming to push the top three, but I'm not sure we'd really need more than a couple of new additions really as long as the main out of contract players re-sign.
