I have been busy recently, i set myself a challenge to re-watch the entire back catalogue of Monday Night Raw starting back in January 1993. This isn't going to be something completed anytime soon, but here it goes - reminisce to the old days.

WWF MONDAY NIGHT RAW
DATE - MONDAY 11TH JANUARY 1993
VENUE - MANHATTAN CENTER: NEW YORK CITY, NY
ANNOUNCERS - ROB BARTLETT, "MACHO MAN" RANDY SAVAGE & VINCE MCMAHON

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sean Mooney opened the show outdoors with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan trying to get in to the building, only to be informed that he has been replaced by Rob Bartlett. Later in the show, security had detained a female which turned out to be Heenan; he had also attempted to enter the arena dressed as a Jewish man later in the show. Finally he was allowed back in to the arena, as the show went off the air.
  • A promo aired hyping the debut of "The Narcissist" Lex Luger.
  • Vince McMahon interviewed Razor Ramon regarding his upcoming WWF Championship match at the Royal Rumble. Vince also interviewed Doink the Clown towards the end of the show in regards to the threats made by Crush. Crush made his way out and chased Doink around ringside before he left.

DATE - MONDAY 18TH JANUARY 1993
VENUE - MANHATTAN CENTER: NEW YORK CITY, NY
ANNOUNCERS - ROB BARTLETT, RANDY SAVAGE & VINCE MCMAHON

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Rob Bartlett opened the show by saying "fight the real enemy". Moments later, Repo Man attacked Randy Savage from behind and stole his cowboy hat before escaping in to the crowd. Later in the show, Sean Mooney interviewed Repo man who was wearing his hat. Savage said on his headset that he would get revenge. The show closed with the Repo man repossessing Bartlett's car.
  • Vince McMahon conducted an in-ring interview with the WWF Champion Bret "Hitman" Hart about his upcoming title defence at the Royal Rumble against Razor Ramon. Bret responded to the comments made by Razor regarding his attack on his brother Owen, and the remarks made about his father.
  • Vince McMahon conducted an interview with Ric Flair in which he challenged Mr Perfect to a match next week where the loser would leave the WWF. Mr. Perfect accepted the challenge after some disparaging remarks by Flair.

MATCH RESULTS

1# Mr. Perfect bt. Terry Taylor
(During the match, Bobby Heenan called in to the commentary team to profess his feelings about Bartlett ripping a picture of him. Later in the match, Ric Flair appeared at ringside and attacked Perfect on the floor behind the referee's back. Post-match, Perfect ran backstage to find Flair.)

2# Marty Jannetty bt. Glen Ruth
(During the match, Shawn Michaels called in to the commentary team to discuss his upcoming Intercontinental title defence against Jannetty at the Royal Rumble.)

3# Ric Flair vs. "El Matador" Tito Santana ended in a No Contest
(Mr. Perfect came to the ring and pulled Flair out of the ring and began to brawl with him at ringside. After the commercial, both men continued brawling.)

i personally love the intro music to the Royal Rumbles in the early years, a 90s WWF classic and takes me back to christmas day when i would watch the latest Silvervision VHS release in my jim jams

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • The show opened with a 10-bell salute to the passing of Andre The Giant.
  • We saw highlights from the Madison Square Garden Headlock on Hunger event where Bret Hart gave the American Red Cross a cheque for $100,000.
  • Vince McMahon conducted an in-ring interview with Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake who said he was returning to the ring in the WWF. He spoke of recent personal tragedies including the death of his mother and father, his divorce and parasailing accident. He said he is back to take on all comers thanks to the support of Hulk Hogan.
  • Vince McMahon conducted an interview with Money Inc who discussed Brutus Beefcake's comments earlier and said that he was stupid for issuing an open challenge. They flipped a coin to see which one would face Beefcake but Jimmy Hart came out and warned them they are risking their tag titles.

4# Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake bt. Ted Dibiase (w/ Jimmy Hart) Via DQ
(IRS hit Beefcake in the back with his briefcase to cause the DQ. Post-match, both men attempted to continue their assault on Beefcake, Jimmy Hart tried to stop them but he got shoved out of the ring by IRS. IRS hit Beefcake with a weapon, which caused Beefcake to be busted open and to be carried out on a stretcher.)

NEXT WEEK - Tatanka & The Nasty Boys vs. Shawn Michaels & The Beverly Brothers, plus it was implied that Hulk Hogan will be on the show along with Money Inc.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • A pre-taped sit down interview was shown with Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan, Hogan spoke of making personal and business mistakes in the past but he wanted to be the leader of the 90s and the future of Hulkamania was bright. He went on to tease how the fans would not believe what he has to say on Raw.
  • Vince McMahon conducted an in-ring interview with Hulk Hogan, who started by saying how Brutus Beefcake will be ok. He brought Beefcake to the ring, who said he couldn't wait to face Money Inc before Hogan introduced Jimmy Hart as their new manager. Hogan said they will be known as the Mega Maniacs.

  • Vince McMahon conducted an in-ring interview with Money Inc regarding their WWF Tag Team Championship match against Hogan and Beefcake at Wrestlemania IX, loss of Jimmy Hart as their manager, IRS hitting Beefcake with the briefcase but as IRS showed with a picture of Hogan inside, the briefcase was meant for Hogan.

(During the match, Samu attacked the WWF Champion and switched with Fatu.)

(Post-match, Bartlett attempted to interview Doink but instead Doink brought him a gift box which ended up with Doink shoving a pie in his face.)

(During the match, Bobby Heenan called in to commentary. Post-match, Luger pushed Walker to the floor before holding him in front of the mirror, insulted him before throwing him to the mat once again.)

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

  • Gorilla Monsoon informed us that there was a blizzard that changed the plans of the show.
  • Bobby Heenan conducted an in-ring interview with Giant Gonzalez & Harvey Whippleman about how they overpowered the Undertaker at the Royal Rumble, and saying Undertaker and Paul Bearer will go in to their own caskets at Wrestlemania before Gonzalez saying he had a "giant surprise" for the deadman.

  • There was announcement of the formation of the WWF Hall of Fame and Andre The Giant is the first inductee.
  • The rosetti sisters were introduced as Bartlett's fan club, with Bartlett kissing one of them.

1# The Bushwhackers bt. Repo Man & Damien Demento
2# Tatanka bt. Reno Riggins
3# Money, Inc bt. Jeff Armstrong & Scott Rich in a non-title match
4# Doink the Clown bt. Kamala (w/ Slick) via count-out
(Doink distracted Kamala with a gift box on the floor, once Kamala opened to find the box empty, he chased Doink under the ring. Once Doink emerged, he grabbed a chair and waited for kamala to come out from under the ring. Kamala came out on the other side of the ring and attacked Doink before chasing him backstage with the chair.)

Next week, it will be the highlights from the March to Wrestlemania IX.

DATE - SUNDAY 4TH APRIL 1993
VENUE - CAESAR'S PALACE: LAS VEGAS, NV
ANNOUNCERS - JIM ROSS, BOBBY HEENAN & RANDY SAVAGE

1# Tatanka bt. Shawn Michaels (w/ Luna Vachon) via count-out in a WWF Intercontinental Championship match
(Sensational Sherri came to ringside to watch the match, later in the match, the referee was going to call for the bell but Michaels tripped him. Tatanka hit Michaels with the samoan drop in the ring but the referee called for the bell. Post-match, Luna pulled Sherri off the ring apron before hitting a clothesline and a bodyslam on the floor.)

2# The Steiner Brothers bt. The Headshrinkers (w/ Afa
3# Doink the Clown bt. Crush
(A second Doink had interfered in the match when Crush had the head vice applied, Doink hit crush over the head three times with a prosthetic arm which led to Doink getting the 3. Post-match, the referee was informed but could find no second doink under the ring.)

4# Razor Ramon bt. Bob Backlund
5# Money, Inc. bt. Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake (w/ Jimmy Hart) Via DQ to retain the WWF Tag Team Championship
(Referee Danny Davis called for the DQ when Hebner was knocked out, and Hogan used Beefcake's steel face protector as a weapon. Post-match, Hart threw Davis out of the ring before the Mega Maniacs handed out cash from I.R.S's briefcase around ringside.)

6# Lex Luger bt. Mr. Perfect
(Perfect's feet were on the ropes when Luger made the cover but the referee didn't see. Post-match, Luger hit Perfect with the running forearm before returning to the back. Moments later, Perfect ran to the backstage area looking for Luger but was attacked from behind by Shawn Michaels when he eventually found the narcissist.)

7# The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) bt. Giant Gonzalez (w/ Harvey Whippleman) Via DQ
(Gonzalez smothered Undertaker with a rag covered in chloroform to cause the DQ. Post-match, Gonzalez chokeslammed the referee as Undertaker got carried backstage on a stretcher. Moment's later, Undertaker returned to the ring and took Gonzalez down with a flying clothesline.)

8# Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji) bt. Bret "Hitman" Hart to become the new WWF Champion
(Fuji threw salt in the eyes of the Hitman as the sharpshooter was applied. Post-match, Hogan came to the ring to try and tell the referee about what just happened. Mr. Fuji then issued a challenge to Hogan for a match, Fuji eventually gave in to it being a title match before Hogan accepted.)

9# Hulk Hogan bt. Yokozuna (w/ Mr. Fuji) to become the new WWF Champion
(Fuji threw salt in the eyes of the champion before the match stated, moments later, Hogan hit the clothesline and the leg drop to win the title.)

  • "The King" Jerry Lawler was set for action but on two occaisons, he left the ringside area as the crowd kept chanting "Burger King".
  • Vince McMahon interviewed Jerry Lawler from the commentary table, Lawler insulted the crowd and Randy Savage before adding that Savage didn't have the guts to face him.

  • Money, Inc. paid off the Beverly Brothers to give them advice on how to beat the Bushwhackers.
  • Rob Bartlett conducted a ringside interview with Luna Vachon who claimed she was the woman of the 90s and the only strong thing about Sensational Sherri was her breath. Sherri came to ringside and had words with Luna before Sherri attacked Luna and hit a suplex on the floor. She continued the assault by choking her with a cord before Luna hit her with a monitor and tore open her shirt. They fought threw the crowd before Luna was carried off. They briefly fought against after the commercial with Sherri saying she would face Luna at anytime.
  • The commentary team spoke with Money, Inc who were backstage about facing the Beverly Brothers next week. Moments later, the Beverly Brothers jumped them from behind as both teams brawled to end the show.

1# Scott Steiner (w/ Rick Steiner) bt. I.R.S (w/ Ted Dibiase) Via DQ
(Dibiase interfered and broke the cover when it looked Steiner was going to win the match. Post-match, The Steiners fought off Money, Inc and set up for the bulldog off the top, however Beverly Brothers came out and attacked the Steiners. Beverly Brothers then hit a double clothesline on to Dibiase which cause them to get in to a confrontation as Beverlys knocked I.R.S to the floor and cornered Dibiase. Money, Inc left the ring as the Beverlys were inviting them back in the ring.)

Bret then issued a challenge to Luger, Yokozuna and Hulk Hogan.

  • Bobby Heenan introduced Paul Sosnowski and his girlfriend Louise, Paul asked her to marry him and she said yes. Heenan asked them if they would get married on RAW.

(Before the match, Duggan attacked Yokozuna during his entrance and Michaels came out on crutches claiming he was too injured to compete. Perfect threw him in the ring twice which proved the injury was fake. Perfect attacked Michaels to cause the DQ and moments later, Yokozuna hit a leg drop on to the challenger on the floor behind the referee's back. Post-match, Michaels and Perfect brawled in the ring with all the other lumberjacks doing the same before Duggan cleared the ring with his 2x4. Lumberjacks - Mr. Perfect, Yokozuna, Terry Taylor, Bam Bam Bigelow, Typhoon, Bob Backlund, Mr. Hughes and Tatanka.)

Next week, we will see Yokozuna vs. Kamala

A man wearing sunglasses and a hood jumped in the ring and it was revealed to be Marty Jannetty, who asked Michaels if he was a man of his word and to put the title on the line. Michaels was prompted in to accepting the match.

(Bigelow originally won the match thanks to Luna Vachon hitting Bret over the head with a chair and Bigelow hitting the flying headbutt. However, a referee came to ringside and ordered the match to continue. Post-match, Jerry Lawler attacked Bret with the scepter and the throne.)
