Booked a holiday to Australia for the end of October this afternoon before it gets too hot, 2 weeks in Perth and a couple of weeks in Sydney.

I’m off to Kefalonia on Friday for 2 weeks. Rented a villa. Going with my son/DiL and 15 month old grandson. Got him his England shirt today!

I'm far from an expert on Dublin. But surely everyone knows to not go Temple Bar. American tourists paying €8 for a Guinness.

Baggot street is good for drinking, less touristy than around temple bar.

Woolshed Baa & Grill is decent for sports if you want a place to watch the football. They do the cheapest pint that I found anywhere in Dublin as well.

Little bit of a wait for my holiday as I don't go until October but I have a week in Mexico City and a week in LA booked.

Booked 6 nights in Hong Kong and 7 in Da Nang/ Hoi An (Vietnam) for the end of August, will do a day trip to Macau as well.

Just back from 2 and a half weeks in Vietnam. Hoi An is lovely, although gone the way of the tourists a bit now. Still a great place to visit.

Only had 2 nights in Da Nang, a lot to do, but the centre as gone very Western with high rise buildings everywhere. Rent a bike out and explore the mountains around Da Nang, absolutely beautiful.

Next week I'll be in Malta, my hotel is in the zone of St. Paul's bay, but the island is pretty small so I hope there will be the chance to see more or less everything.

Looking for somewhere cheap in Europe for the end of August/Start of September. Anyone any suggestions?

EDIT: With the missus so a nice beach and bars at night - no lads holidays.

Going to Gran Canaria at the end of August. Since seen some cheap deals through holidaypirates.com which would have it cheaper.

Beach - tick
Bars at night - tick.

Get yourself over to the bus station in Bugibba and you can get pretty much anywhere on the island.

Always cheap flights to Porto from Liverpool, think Manchester fly to there now as well.

Decent beaches, good food, good nightlife and an interesting city, plus you can jump on the train to places like Braga, Coimbra and Guimaraes which are worth an afternoon's visit.

Always found it reasonable-to-cheap price wise in terms of eating out and drinking.

Yeah. Went to Porto in April. Loved it. Great feel about the place in the evenings and some right good bars/restaurants. Took the metro out to the beach - bit wild.

Definitely recommend going out there for the Sao Joao festival, think it falls on the 23rd of June. Best street party i've been to.

I'm going back in autumn for my 5th or 6th visit.

Going to western Canada for 2 days next week. Not Vancouver though, I'm doing Northern BC to see some nature and wildlife including Grizzlies, Moose and hopefully Cougars.

Currently booking up some tours but the flight is nearly sorted.

Agree about Hoi An, found it a bit tacky and over crowded in the old town. Enjoyed myself though.

I really liked Da Nang, the beach feels like you're in the Med and there's a nice buzz about the place. I could happily live there I reckon, dirt cheap, plenty on your doorstep in terms of things to see but enough home comforts.

Victoria Peak at twilight. The cable car up to the Big Buddha. Wednesday night Happy Valley races. Cheap and good Indian takeaway from ground floor in Chungking Mansions. Sunday Funday in Wan Chai. IMO

nousername would be the better person to ask though, if he's still around
Victoria Peak for a sundowner and Big Buddah definitely. Also the escalators and restaurants/bars on the Mid Levels around Jubilee Street.

Light show at the water front was something to do before having a few beers. There are some interesting temples to visit if you are so inclined. We had a great (vegetarian) meal at the Chi Lin Nunnery after looking around the nearby gardens.

Good bird watching opportunities easily accessible if you were interested.

Lantau Island is possibly my favourite place on Earth, the big Buddah and the monasteries are cool but the hikes surrounding the place are stunning. Definitely want to do a camping trip up there.

Stunning views up Victoria Peak.

Not a fan of MongKok but had a good night out around Tsim Sha Tsui.

Going to Kenya from the 12th-21st October. Specifically Nairobi and then onto Mombasa with hopefully a bit of safari inbetween.

Anybody got any ideas of the best place/area to stay for a stag do in Hamburg? Going next year and never been, don't want to end up miles out of the way.
