Thought last night was our worst performance under Oliie but a brilliant result rounded off by a fantastic solo goal from Charles Vernam. His loan spell at Chorley did him the world of good and he's been superb since he came back.

Ref was shite again, how Jackson got away with crippling Hessenthaler without even a yellow in the first couple of minutes I'll never know. Doesn't matter how early a challenge is in a game, a yellow is a yellow and could really even have been a red. Rumours are he's broken his collarbone and at least 1 rib. Hope it's not that serious though and he's back soon as he's an integral part of our midfield.

Soft is probably the best way to describe our penalty. Ref wasn't going to give it at first but gave it on the basis on the assistant referee. Always amazes me how a ref stood a few yards away from the incident sees nothing wrong but takes the word of his assistant stood much further away.

Stevenage passed it around okay but their shooting was comical to be fair, absolutely awful.

Will take the 3 points though and looking forward to Saturday's visit of FGR who are currently bang out of form.

We had an even higher one than that only given as a yellow in the Orient game! Seems a high foot to the head is ok but the shin is not!
That one last night didn't even get a yellow!

Just seen the highlights... FGR's defending really is abysmal. They pack the box with their own players yet none of them are pressing or really doing anything useful at all. Funny really because for the first few months of the season they were the best defensive side in the division. What happened?

Every time you got near our box I expected you to score. Especially on set pieces. We don't seem to understand that in order to stop teams scoring you actually need to challenge for the ball. Just standing there doesn't do a lot.

I think it's all a clever tactical ploy, far too many teams have been sitting back against us to stop us playing and we've found it hard to break them down, so we're now trying to build a reputation for being shite defensively so teams come and attack us instead. It's working perfectly.

Alfie May's been a fantastic signing for us - 3 in 4 games and should have scored at Crewe as well.

Think he and Varney could be devastating between now and May.
Alfie May is too good for League 2. Great signing, you've pulled a blinder there.

The icing on the cake is it was Van Veen who walked. Pretty heavily disliked around here and the red card was greeted like we’d scored a goal. My loudest cheers of the night were certainly for that Dutch twat trudging off :fl::fl:
Haha yeah, I laughed when I saw that.

Think I’d like to join Referee School as you obviously don’t have to do any work.
Yeah, absolutely shocking challenge to get away with. Suspected broken collar bone and/or broken rib(s) according to someone on The Fishy. Will be a big loss if so. We don't really have anyone who can step into Hess's role. Clifton at a push perhaps.

Agree with Les re: worst performance under Holloway and Vernam's form. Really pleased Vernam is doing well, have always liked him and thought he just needed a regular run in the side of more than 3 or 4 consecutive starts, which is what he's pretty much been restricted to his entire time here so far.

We head to FGR, one of the few clubs who might call us their bogey team... so there is a glimmer of hope we can get something out of this.

Carlisle are now confirmed as FGR's bogey side.
But in 12 months time........... :mell:

It used to be Yeovil, but since they left someone else now has to have the honor.

Looks like it's you. ;)

If teams want to beat us all they have to do is turn up in Carlisle kits. They'll have it won in the tunnel.

Pitch did look a shocker on the stream last night, drainage still not fixed?
Extended replay on the FGR channel up now... FGR doing their best impression of our defending. Alessandra running onto a loose ball on the edge of the Forest Green box before hitting the post (and winning a corner from which we scored) is the pick of the bunch; to call it poor defending incorrectly suggests that what they were doing was defending.

I'm glad you appreciated our unique take on defending. We've been practising it for a while and finally got it nailed last night, meaning we pulled off the achievement that very few people in the world ever manage........we cheered up hellogregory.

Been confirmed that Jake Hessenthaler has suffered a broken rib, ligament damage across the shoulder and collarbone as well as a punctured lung and is currently still in hospital awaiting results of further tests and will probably be out for the rest of the season.

Still can't believe their player didn't even get a talking to from the ref never mind a card of some sort.

Get well soon Hess.

Very disappointed. Two points lost. Quite a number of shots, but I never really expected Crawley to score. The first was not dissimilar to one against Swindon. A bit of a freak where one defender hits the ball really hard, hits another defender and it loops out straight to their attacker who says ta very much. The second was appalling defending.
We missed far too many scoreable shots, the one where Hardie ran through their team and had only the goalie to meet, and mishit it so it became effectively a soft pass to the keeper was cringeworthy.

I know he scored two goals, but I really don’t think Palmer is a league level striker, your number 30 however looked a threat.

I don’t think either keeper can feel they had a good game.

First fifteen twenty minutes we were unplayable, and. Then people got their wires crossed and you came back into it.

Oh well, onwards and upwards. Looking forward to the free-flowing Corinthian style of Newport now.
