Please God don’t sign someone from Mansfield, the world will cave in
We haven’t got a goal scoring striker, even though we are top goal scorers, all our goals come from all over the pitch.

Signing Norwood makes much more sense now.

I bet Mullin isn't even injured. It's all for the documentary so he can make a heroic return.

We had a striker years ago who got a punctured lung and wasn't never the same again..

Sounds like we're making a completely unnecessary signing today any by all accounts the player isn't even that good. Money burning a hole in our Director of Football's pocket as usual.

Seems pretty nailed on that we’re signing Jayden Richardson today.
That’s the guy who needlessly pushed Harry Clifton over just outside the box at 90+6 in our play off eliminator at Notts County…..

Likely be the the end for MSH which is sad as he’s a fan favourite and I don’t think Richardson is an upgrade but he has spent half of time with us injured and looks like DC has lost patience.

One of the funniest players I’ve ever seen. He’s a frustrated striker playing at right back, man was barely ever seen in his own half, popped up all over the place. He’s really fast but that’s about it.

Did one of the worst misses I’ve ever seen at your place when he rounded the ‘keeper and put it over the bar from about a yard out in your promotion season. For some reason cutting in from the left wing after picking the ball up from a second ball at a goal kick when he was playing at right back.

Confirmed, albeit as a loan signing. Got to take the marginal positives from it.

Our write up of him describes him as an 'instant success' at Notts. I think these posts beg to differ!

He kind of was an instant success to be fair. For a few weeks our right back going on mazy runs down the left wing and being our most advanced player when the opposition counter attacked was quite entertaining. It just got more and more annoying the longer he was here.

The saving grace is that it’s on loan and even if we move on MSH (hopefully we don’t) then we have Knoyle who did a really solid job for us after joined from Doncaster.

Are we actually going to be playing two attacking full backs as our side centre halves in a three? Can't see that working at all, I know it's fairly common to have one which we had last season with Hussey on the left but Knoyle and Touray flanking Horsfall seems a bit open.

Mad Football scientist Chally. Can see him turning up on the opening day in a lab coat and safety goggles. This is what the re-invention of the game looks like.

Sums up Burchnall's time here quite well really, great fun but ultimately not ideal for actual success.

I doubt he'll get a bad reception here but that push against Grimsby raises my blood pressure every time I'm reminded of it.

The best football we played was when Keane/Kitching we’re doing that when he first came in.

Last season was very dull and risk adverse in comparison. I think Wright is ahead of Knoyle though.

Going forward it's obviously attractive on paper but defensively it looks a bit open and could see the big forwards of L2 licking their lips playing off them and leaving Horsfall isolated.

I have always said the side CB's of a three should be good on the ball to be fair, nothing worse than sticking a traditional centre half who's used to playing in a 2 there and watching him struggle to know when he has to step in. With three at the backs being more common, the position is becoming more specialised and I do actually think it's a lifeline for the more traditional full back player who was good on the ball but who maybe was being phased out by the bomb up and down all day modern style of full back or wing back.

I don't mind giving it a go but could be very open if we don't dominate the game.

No he's going to hopelessly continue trying to play the same way we do with Kyle Wootton despite the fact it looks like we have zero interest in having a back up targetman.

The fact in his interview the other day he said he still doesn't know how to play Nick Powell is extremely worrying.

Up to him to prove me wrong, would love egg on my face. It's also not really a critique of Challinor as the way he plays his football is effective and works - we should be building a team around that not hoping we can reinvent ourselves until at least October when Wootton is back. We will then be expecting a recovering Wootton from a serious injury to be able to play near enough 90 minutes every week.

We used it most of the time Chan was here.
Works really well, IF you defend from the front to stop the counter
Which teams will try.
Good Luck

Fair enough - was he doing this in a back five for you or in a four?

Maybe we will be able to get away with it in a back three, but would expect it puts the brakes on the right sided CB to stay further back which probably wouldn't work well with Akil Wright. Maybe with Byrne as he is a bit more of an orthodox CB rather than overlapping and moving with the ball.

I thought Carlisle tried to keep him. Is he a London lad wanting to be closer to home or something? Or have you just out muscled them?

Being local was a plus also being told he will be in his favoured position. I cant imagine we offered more money.

yeah, we play a 352 and Simmo wanted him to fit into one of the striker roles but he wants to be used as a winger and to be fair to him he has been pretty open about it being his preferred position for the whole time he was here. Sutton are one of the few clubs that I don't think it would be about money so fair play to him and hope he does well for you.

I liked him. He started well, tons of pace but Birchnall was so negative and slow with his build up play that Richardson was wasted. He'll always be remembered for giving away a stupid few kick that cost us but I think you may be pleasantly surprised by him.
He never wanted to go to Aberdeen so being closer to Nottingham may make him a happier player.

Mullin has now punctured a lung so you’d definitely think an expensive striker will be on the way.
Rumour going around that he taped a load of drawing pins to his body and ran full pelt into that poor young keeper so he wouldn't have to face climbing out of Luke Waterfall's pocket again in September.

Jayden Richardson was decent for us as well, a lot of pace up and down the right. Delivery hit and miss but was a threat.

So you should be!
Agreed. We signed him on loan from Bradford when we were down the bottom of the national league, and when he signed I knew he was a great talent.

Was sad that we didn't get him full time, but the lure of league football was too good to turn down at the time, and he said when he played for us that he fell back in love with football.

Not sure if your rumours are coming from our rumours, but we’re linked with everyone and our fan base love to mention ex-players returning despite very few of them ever happening or working out
