Don't agree with taking Giroud off, even after that miss, he is easily the best centre forward they have and can score even when he's playing terribly.

I have to echo the Ospina sentiments - what does he do better than Szczesny? Apart from not smoke in the showers? He's doesn't have better positional sense, he doesn't have better hands. Ospina looks more spectacular because he's tiny in comparison maybe?

Not basing this on tonight's performance by the way, he hasn't looked as good as the Pole in the previous five matches or so.

I stopped reading the thread here. Absolutely deluded comments. Ospina is by far and away the better goalkeeper. I'm not sure how he did tonight because I only watched the last 10 minutes, but that 3rd goal wasn't his fault. I wouldn't have Szczesny at Napoli, and Rafael isn't the greatest of keepers mind you.

Szczesny is extremely inconsistent and while he's still young, him being starter at Arsenal for a while sums up their last few years. Laughable, absolutely laughable. As you said, smoking isn't good for any footballer. I've been watching Ospina for months and have seen Szczesny and I have just binned off this thread because the comments on Ospina are so deluded and it shows people have seen only the last few Arsenal games rather than how he's done on Colombia where he's proven to be a World Class goalkeeper (I'm not even kidding when I say that. Some of his best saves have been phenomenal.)

If any Arsenal fans want Szczesny in their side over Ospina, go ahead take him. You know your club best, but don't begin moaning about how shit Szczesny is because you asked for Ospina to come off. Szczesny could one day turn out to be a very good keeper, but right now he's fucking shite. And this is coming from a person who's actually seen enough of Szczesny to judge. He was great when I was at Anfield a while back, but fucking shit against Southampton. Even Robert Green has been better ffs.

As I've proven on TFF, my goalkeeping knowledge is very, very poor but I completely stand by this comment as I've probably seen more of Ospina than all of you have combined. As I said, you want Szczesny in your side, go ahead. Don't moan when you begin playing shit like Arsenal have been all season until the moment Wenger put Ospina in the first team.

I'm disgusted that a big, historical English club who have qualified for the Champions League year upon year, concede 3 at home to an injury ridden French side.

Was another English team playing last night??

Well I for one feel honoured to have David Ospina's dad visit this forum. Welcome aboard.

That Ty and Claude fellas are comical, absolute jokers the pair of them. The parody Arsenal twitter accounts trolling them are even better, makes for great reading.

Check this guy for example https://twitter.com/AzakFeverAFC

Or https://twitter.com/JeromeSnm100

Not sure if i'm just immature but I found some of there tweets class

For years Arsenal have had an unbalanced team. Try to fit too many attacking midfielders in as possible. Welbeck isn't a winger, Cazorla isn't a centre-mid. Thought they showed disrespect to Monaco going with just Coquelin in there.

Wenger should resign at the end of the season.

Ty is worse than the half-scarf tourists you see at games these days. The guy is so damn deluded with his Arsenal gear. I bet his room is pure Arsenal, Arsenal bed covers and lampshades - the lot.

I don't really see what your problem is with my post. I already stated that I was basing the opinion on Ospina's performances on how he's done since breaking into the Arsenal team, so you can drop the affronted attitude. I asked why people thought he was better than Szczesny based on what we've all seen from him so far. All I've heard is that Szczesny is inconsistent, but since Ospina has taken over...he's looked dodgy under the high ball, he's flapped at a few innocuous long shots, made a howler against Leicester and makes routine saves (for a much taller goalkeeper) look spectacular.

The Pole is inconsistent, but has greater upside and what you consider phenomenal saves by Ospina are made far more easily by a guy who has five inches (in height you dirty bastards) on him. Szczesny would have easily saved the third goal last night - being a giant does help a lot when it comes to goalkeeping. Szczesny also makes world class saves, ones that Ospina wouldn't come close to reaching. No doubt Ospina seems like a far better professional (and less of a dick) than Szczesny, but only one of these goalkeepers has potentially world class attributes. Ospina has hardly put his best foot forward since becoming the starter.

Shay Given looks like the best goalkeeper in the world in a Republic of Ireland top, not sure how much credence you can give that argument. It's not like Szczesny has been poor for Poland. And yes, we will never forget your opinion on David de Gea.

We'll wait and see, judge him at the end of the season with a larger pool size, but from what I've seen so far there isn't much Ospina can do that the Pole can't.

Szczesny is by far the superior keeper. Ospina kept a few clean sheets when he first came in but he barely had anything to do. Almost threw away the points against Palace at the weekend as well, coming flying out for a cross he wasn't getting anywhere near.

Szczesny's being taught a lesson by Wenger but I really think it's at the cost of the team at the moment. He's had one bad game this season and a couple of fags. Hope he can get back into the good books because we're a better team with him in goal.

Szczesny isn't ever going to be world class, he's never demonstrated the potential that he would be either. He's never been good enough for Arsenal, and it's only fan loyalty that sees their hopes manifest as their critical opinion of him that sees him defended.
The Pole is shit.

I knew you would say De Gea, and if you've been keeping up, you would know my opinion on De Gea has completely change after seeing some recent performances.

Its not just your post that pissed me off. This whole thread is full of deluded comments. I disagree that he could have saved the third goal as it was a well place shot. Maybe Ospina hasn't done well because of his injury or because Wenger has insisted on putting on Szczesny even after the injury? He hasn't looked great since the Brazil match I agree, but he's comfortably better than Szczesny. I don't get why people are asking to concede more goals.

Ospina in very few appearances has 3 cleen sheets, the same amount Szczesny has gotten the whole season, and that's a fact. I'm aware its not all been down to him, but it shows how much more security he's provided since Szczesny came off.

And go on, enlighten me about Shay Given. I'm not even taking the piss there, prove me wrong. Show me some of his best saves.

An 8 page thread about Arsenal v Monaco & everyone is slagging off Ospina?

after seeing the game last night I'm quite confused as to what he did wrong? Unless everyone is mis-spelling 'Ozil' because I can understand why people would be annoyed with him.

The moment Szczesny came off, Arsenal began playing well. Only 2 loses with him so far in all competitions out of 7.

I think Ospina makes the backline more secure as shown in the Man City match. Szczesny just makes the back line panic. I'm very much in the Ospina camp. He's not great but he's better than the Pole. He'll prove his doubters wrong with time. Don't forget that people were questioning Hugo Lloris when he first arrived at Spurs (where he wasn't even first choice!).

Of course you flip-flopped your opinion, because you were blatantly wrong, I'm just fucking with you dude.

He would have easily saved it, the only reason Ospina didn't is because he's a short-arse. Szczesny could have saved it by simply sticking out his giant leg. He's looked comfortably better than him how exactly? By getting a few clean sheets where he had absolutely nothing to do (Villa 2 shots on target, City 4 shots on target, Stoke 2 shots on target) the entire game and then playing pretty shit for the last four/five games? As smat said, Szczesny had one howler of a performance against Southampton, but apart from that he has in no way been as poor as Ospina has been in the last few games (which is the only sample size I can judge him on).

Shay Given has been renowned as one of the best shot stoppers in the Premier League for years and he is always incredible for Ireland, it's how he got a move to Manchester City despite being pretty dodgy when commanding his box. And YouTube can make any footballer in the world look glorious, but since you asked (shit music incoming, beware):

Shay Given was one of my favorite keepers of all time when I was a kid.

It was only when I grew up and realised how he couldn't organise his defence that i soured on him.

Losing two out of seven isn't good enough! Teams who lose two games in every seven won't win shit. He was at fault against Southampton in the League Cup and he was at fault again yesterday. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that there's some adaptation to be made, but he's not up to Szczesny's level at the moment. I'm not deluded, the Pole in Goal isn't at the level of Courtois or De Gea, but we had the best Premier League record in 2014 with him in goal for pretty much the whole year. He doesn't unsettle our defence mistermagic, our barmy tactical naivety does.

edit: I think I meant 2013

Did I say he didn't do fuck all? I'm aware it wasn't enitrely down to him but as mistermagic said, he keeps the backline secure where as Szczesny makes them panic. It doesn't have to do with tactical naivety otherwise you'd still be struggling. I'm not sure how much the tactics have changed since Ospina has come on, but I seriously can't trust Wenger here. If I'm wrong there let me know.

Have you suddenly forgot about Szczesny's lack of concentration? He gets red carded often and lacks the discipline that Ospina has.

Lets just agree to disagree.
