It's back, only a couple of days to go until all our collective pre-season optimism is crushed, your new centre forward turns out to be a Quigley in disguise, that shit hot centre mid who ran rings around the jumpers for goalposts opposition in friendlies turns out to actually be a fat waste of space but you had your blinkers on and got carried away.

Pick of the games has to be the 'Chipmunx Derby' down in Wrexham, expecting a scintillating 0-0 draw.

Godspeed Brothers!

I think we'll get a point from our cup final, but don't see Wrexham being in such disarray this season. Looking forward to seeing if our main attacking threat, Dior Angus, can maintain his pre-season form, because he could really cause left-back Jennings some big problems with his speed.

I'm not too confident in our defence in keeping out a much-improved Wrexham forward line, but can't see us being battered either.

We we're awful away at aldershot last season and picking 7 points up away from home against the bottom 7 killed any title Hope's off. So this is a perfect opening game to see whether we're going to kick on this time around. Narrow away win

Instant first 2 replies from Barrow, when most of us were sleeping. Definitely not their Cup Final, so stop saying it is.

Looking forward to the many, many sweeping generalisations based on 90 minutes of football in terms of who is going up and who is going out of business based on their result.

There's not a single fixture there that you could confidently predict a winner in, IMO.

I'm predicting a couple of Notts County fans with the top banter saying they wish they'd folded after the all time low of losing to Eastleigh.

Chesterfield will get the result against Dover which will prompt OneDecentLester into telling us all, once again, that they will piss this tinpot league.

Halifax will pick up a point at Ebbsfleet, causing B2TF to kill us all with emojis, trying to convince us that his tinpot side have any chance of survival which we all know is not happening.

Lastly, Barrow will end up in a Wrexham win and Chipmunx will remind us of how Hughes will be leaving in December anyway which will trigger our usual descent to 10th, even though we finished comfortably in the play offs last season.

I, for one, cannot wait.

Can’t wait. Result is almost an irrelevance, just nice to have a football game without a massive dark cloud hanging over us.

Well we've never beaten Sutton as Jared is so keen to point out (but no it's not something Sutton fans pay attention to). Sort of side we struggle against, big fat lumps playing the ref and irritating our talentless fannies. But Dosser has buggered off to the regional leagues and fortunes might be changing here. We now have much more height and power so on the face of it we are better equipped to challenge.

We'll be expecting to win this but can see a draw here. There'll be carnage on Twitter and the Bunker if we lose though, like.

Ever the pessimist, I think we will lose 2-1. I'll happily take a draw, anything else is a bonus IMO.

We’re away at a side who happily signed a player we binned off as not being good enough. So he’ll probably score, and the Pools fans will keep on banging on about it (after all they’re still slightly bitter about us drawing there in 2017).

As for us, it’s our first competitive game under the new management regime and with a largely new team (a large number of last seasons squad being let go). It’ll be interesting to see how we’ll gel together. Pre-season was promising, but this is the real stuff

No prediction from me, at this stage all predictions are stabs in the dark

Gotta start this season with a win if they're serious about doing something this season, get the fans onside from the off, too often we've been powder puff at home, we've been bullied and outfought, can't happen again.

Is what I think Hignett will put out, harsh on Holohan and Featherstone who've both looked the business this pre season, that is actually the standout thing so far, we look a lot taller and have players who are a lot more physical.

Wrexham will blow away Barrow and Masterbator will announce that FINALLY, their time has come. THIS manager is the one they've been waiting for. THEY. ARE GOING. UP. Wins at Boreham and Dover will fully vindicate his confidence as he bounces all over the forum, popping up on every thread every 5 minutes.

When they lose 2-0 at home to The Shaymen on the following Tuesday night, he will be mysteriously absent from forum until the Saturday, when he will surface, just as search parties are about to step out, remembering nothing since the previous weekend. A brain scan will reveal he has had Tuesday night's result surgically removed from his data banks, and as far as he knows, it never happened. The scan will also reveal, his brain is tiny compared to a normal one. :ds::bdick:

Ive not really been paying that much attention though so probably well off.

Barrow fans probably shouldn't base their predictions off last year's debacle. It'll be a close game whichever way it goes.

I'm not fancying our chances at Barnet. We won't be putting a full bench out as we haven't got enough fit players. Radio silence from the club means no-one knows what's happening. The likelihood of the latest takeover failing isn't helping either.

We've got a truckload of injuries to be fair. Likely to have a makeshift/unfit defence.

Fylde at home for us - we are an unknown quantity at the moment. Unlikely to be troubling the top half too much I expect, but hopefully we can get to 50 points this season.

I'd take a point now, but think Fylde will win comfortably, as probably the best side in the division.

Not optimistic for Barnet v Yeovil on Saturday. Currie has admitted that a new striker is unlikely for Saturday, so the embarrassingly long seven-month search continues. We've also got no right back, Sweeney is out for a few months most likely and there are fitness doubts over a few others. We haven't been anywhere near as active in the transfer market as we need to be and our silly refusal to use the loan system puts us at a real disadvantage.

3 nil home win for Eastleigh. Despite all of today’s optimism and good news we won’t have played together and August is effectively our pre season. The problems we had last year won’t disappear overnight. I’m not sure Ardley will know his best team

We were terrible away from home last year. Eastleigh will be well up for it. At least we will take a decent away following

Yep. 1 outfield player id have in our starting XI was in the squad last weekend & he went off inured after 5 mins too.

Our main (pretty much only) striker who scored 6 in 6 in pre-season is now injured.

Steady 2-0 home win against Dover I reckon to start the season.

Spyrou and Boden both getting on the scoresheet

Expecting us to lose to Fylde tomorrow, with them going on to win the title.
How times have changed, that i’d be happy with a point at home to AFC Fylde.
