Stop being shits and stay the fuck at home.

The type of attitude that has caused a double in non Coronavirus deaths. And has led to a dramatic drop in the treatment of Cancer, Strokes and Heart Attacks.

The advice has always been that what was a 999 emergency before the virus is still a 999 emergency now.

The media have read the tone completely wrong, whilst we’re all desperate for some positive news the idea that we’re over the worst of it is completely misplaced. All we’ve seen in the decline in deaths and infection rates (if the latter can even be measured), indicates that lockdown is working.

We haven’t beaten the virus, there is no cure, and if we allow people to go back to normal too early the ‘second peak’ of deaths may well be higher than the first. Like someone said earlier you only need to look at the Spanish flu outbreak to understand basic epidemiology.

Stop being shits and stay the fuck at home.

Apart from in your head, who is telling those people not to go to hospital?

I never said you or anybody else was saying it. I said it was that attitiude that is leading people to not go.

The A & E's down here are certainly a lot less busy, as well.

Perhaps the lockdown is working down here, especially if you look at the numbers for cases and deaths.

I presume essential and emergency hospital visits are still allowed?

Just not non essential ones which they try to say anyway by making you call 111 or the GP.

I think the lockdown will be relaxed but social distancing and limiting of numbers will still occur.

The lockdown is maybe starting to work but remember this isn't some kind of masterstroke from the shambles that we have as a government.

what people are forgetting and what Ambulance crews confirmed to me last night* is that a huge chunk of A+E visitors previously were alcohol related and usually on a Friday or Saturday night when people had either hurt themselves when drunk or ended up fighting - a huge decrease in these is behind most of the decrease in A+E visits.
* I work night shift at the local "Emergency Plan" garage - which basically means we have to stay open whatever so the local Emergency Services can get fuel. It also means i chat with the Ambulance crews/Police etc nightly and have a better idea than most about whats happening as i get the news 1st hand not via the media who all have one agenda or another.

I’m guessing you’re in Cornwall, so I would suggest the hospitals down there would be less busy because virtually no-one is travelling down.

I too work for the emergency services and interact with Ambulance all the time, and they tell me A&E is less busy, mainly because alcohol related incidents have dropped 90%, also there are less car crashes, kids getting hurt when playing and no sports injuries. What they do say is they are still responding to the usual amount of ‘normal’ 999 calls ie. heart attack, stroke etc.

Barrow would be straight back down anyway if not in the first season, then the second, so send them up I say.
With a similar history to Halifax, Chester, Darlington, Hereford, Lincoln, York, Torquay, all relegated twice, Wrexham wouldn't be far behind them if they went up either. After 11 solid seasons of mostly non league mediocrity and failure, you'd be saying they'd found their natural level if we were talking about another club. :ds:

What's funny about that? Since I have a family member who works as a nurse within A&E who has also reiterated what chipmunx has said on admissions being down (not just for alcohol, also people just wasting time with ridiculous symptoms) it's going to be true.

Oh you mean all the news reports over the past week that have (falsely) been claiming that A&E admissions are down due to people being scared to attend?

And then there's a poster on this forum echoing the same.

Maybe sometimes people need to state the obvious because a lot of people are fucking morons.

That's my exact point - the Media controls (or tries to control) the public reaction to sell papers - or for political (or other) agendas... and some people act like sheep and can't think for themselves or see the obvious.

Well I hope Barrow go back up. Maybe they would only last a season or two. Maybe they would fly through the fourth. No one knows until they're up. I last watched them at Eastville in 1968 and it would be good to see a proper club promoted.

..............and the Government also treat them as such. If you put the fear of God in to people, they will accept anything they are told.

A lot of businesses getting ready to get back into it the next week or two.

Some people on here will be gutted. They'd love to wallow in pity and scare themselves silly for the rest of their lives.

I am gutted.

I am gutted that more lives will be lost and more strain will be put on our NHS for the sake of greed.

The EFL statement yesterday whilst it doesn't say it can be read as if the NL do the wrong thing it won't be 2 up 2 down...

"As it stands, the English Football League (EFL) is still working on the principle of two teams getting promoted - but that will depend on whatever format the National League decides."

As for Chorley - no they were not Mathematically down - but even if AFC Fylde, Ebbsfleet, Maidenhead etc didn't pick up another point Chorley would have needed 17 points (18 realistically with their goal difference) out of the last 24 to get out of the bottom 4.
That's clearly talking about just this season, though.

Some people just feel they aren't affected by the virus and it's risks so more worried about other issues around the lockdown.
