beat havant and Waterlooville 5-0 Gary Roberts looking very sharp. baker looks a really decent player and scored 30 yard screamer of the bar. hunt would make a good addition as well based on this evenings showing. normally a tight game there pre season and we played them off the park this year. hopefully a sign of things to come.

Bovey Tracey 0-6 PAFC Carey, Jervis, Rooney, Goodwillie, OG, Spencer. Good performance and another good workout. Couple of kids did well too. First " test" on Saturday, away to Torquay.

Baker will be just about the best midfielder in League 2. He was class at MK a couple of seasons ago.

Can't see that any other Cheltenham fans have mentioned it, but we beat Evesham 5-1 on Tuesday night.

We play Cirencester this evening and Bath on Saturday.

Saudi Arabia's Al Shabab seem to think we are playing them tomorrow.

Updated following our 1st run out:

Tue 12th July - v Bamber Bridge (A).......................................................... WON 3-0
Sat 16th July - mini tournament v Blackburn & Bury (H)........D 0-0.........WON 4-0
Tue 19th July - v Burnley (H)
Sat 23rd July - v Halifax (A)
Tue 26th July - v Preston (H)
Sat 30th July - v Liverpool XI (H)

Good work out at Bamber Bridge with 8 trialists making up the numbers as we played 22 players.

I think it will be much tougher at the weekend with both Blackburn and Bury bringing their full squads to play a 3 game 'tournament'.

Genuinely got shuddders seeing that 'stadium' again:mell:
If the pitch was like it was for us then I can see why a cup upset would be more likely to be fair. The grass was far too long which basically made all attempts at passing play useless. That being said Warrington were dire, even for a friendly match against a team 3 leagues lower than ourselves. They had one chance of note due to a big defensive error, and even managed to bottle that.

Hopefully scoring 22 goals in 3 games bodes well, haven't been tested yet though

We beat Al Shabab 2-1 this morning in Eindhoven, there's a sentence I never thought I'd say.

Wattenscheid away tomorrow which I'm heading to, most excited I've ever been for a pre-season game, which isn't a particularly challenging bar to raise. It'll be a good piss up at least.

After 2 defeats to non league teams it looks like we have finally turned in an excellent performance with a 0 - 0 draw with Hull City tonight.

We travel to Torquay today, will be nice to see us play against a half decent side.

Our pre season gets in full swing today properly, 3 weeks to go until the league season starts:

Today: Bedford Town (A)
Tuesday: Boreham Wood (A)
Saturday 23/7: Brighton & Hove Albion (H)
Tuesday 26/7: Woking (A)
Saturday 30/7: Walsall (H)

Bar the first, which should be a real difference in class, they're all good tests.

Jones has intimated that he'll probably do a 60:30 split in the first two games, which I think is better than 45:45.

Lots 2-0 at home to Wolves. Sounded as nothing has changed really from last season. Same old problems. Lack in creativity, powder puff midfield and a shambles at the back bar an excellent keeper.

I watched Argyle play St. Blazey last weekend and despite the convincing scoreline, the standard of opposition (Semi-Pro) meant it was very hard to tell how good we actually were.

With a game against Torquay United this afternoon, I'm hoping we get to see a little bit of what we're going to be about next term. Given their non-league, Torquay won't be the best test available admittedly but if we can stick two or three in and keep a clean sheet, I'll be happy.

Saturday 23/7: Brighton & Hove Albion (H)

This should be interesting as BHA are playing us today. Compare scores and arbitrarily decide the score in the match between us.

Beat Ilkeston 4-0

McLeod, Stead, Rodman and Burke with the goals.

Nathan Arnold was playing for Ilkeston, is he not staying at Grimsby?

We won 1 - 0 at Alfreton with a team which included our goalkeeping coach in goal, assistant manager at left back and Paul Hurst coming on as sub!

Won 9-0 at Bedford.

Thought Bedford were poor even by Southern League standards, but we scored some decent goals, Marriott got a hat trick too and was especially pleased to see it was some of the younger players who were the standouts. Not sure we can draw any conclusions from that though.

Lost 0-4 against Brighton today.

Stuck at work so missed it but people who went are vering between 'we're shit and we are going down' to 'Brighton were very good but we were not that bad'.

Letting in four goals is never good. I'll leave it at that.

Surprised we played such a weak side to be honest, thought we'd be playing first XI at this point. Only 3 started you'd say would start in a league game.

Nice runout for some of the yoof and trialists against FL players though, especially first half.
