Probably fair, we were better first half and they were second half. Created chances and largely untroubled at the back, so that's good.

Thought Alty totally dominated first 25 mins and missed a gift of a chance to go 2-0 up.
Least for once we have a manager to change things, thought last 60 mins we dictated pace of the game.
Alty will be up near top again but feel they have to mix game up a bit.
Great game to watch.

Brackley 1-0 Alfreton

Very unfortunate to come away with nothing in a tight, cagey season opener.

Brackley came out and battered us for 15 minutes but we withstood the barrage.

Josh Thacker with a huge chance at the end of the first half which Danny Lewis did superbly to push on to the bar.

In an even tighter second half a shot from the Brackley number 9 took two deflections to beat Atkinson.

Everything that I thought pre game played out. Much improved defensive unit hard to break down. Amari Morgan Smith worked his bollocks off up front but I worry where the goals are going to come from.

Plenty to be positive about though. On to another tough assignment against Boston on Tuesday night

Very, very disappointing game today would never have thought i would have been so bored in my life after watching this game. Absolute shocking first 20 minutes and gradually got worse with some schoolboy defending from Laing and dreadful positioning with the other two goals.

Definitely a game of two halves with Farsley just sitting back on their game over 3 goal lead after the interval. We probably could and should of had two goals in the second half, other than that the game wasn't all that great to watch. I couldn't wait to get out the ground.

No excuse for our performance but the pitch was an absolute disgrace, wasn't much chance of passing football. As for the officials completely clueless.

If it wasn't for our generosity in the first half probably could have been a close game. Take nothing away from Farsley it was job done by half-time.

Other than the match had a decent day out with a few bevvies in Leeds with the lads. Looking at today's attendance of 1,123 in the ground! I couldn't see many from the Celt Army.

Should we hand the Minstermen the trophy now.

Every pre-season I forget how bad the refs are. Never a pen for Leamington's first, Chambers was probably offside for our first and Williams probably fouled the defenders for our second.

Disappointing result but positives to take from the game. We just fell asleep for one second and Leamington took their chance. 2 shots 2 goals for them.

2-1 win at Blyth for us. Battle was won in midfield really with Robert, Knowles and Hanks in particular running the show. A ton of experience in there. Marlon Jackson made his League debut and promptly scored. His first for us officially but his 9th goal in 7 games including friendlies.

On loan keeper Jeacock looks very assured considering he's only 18. Great debut from him. No Myrie-Williams who was injured.

Blyth had some handy players but their final ball was generally poor.

Quite surreal/amusing to see Lee Clark on the sidelines wearing what appears to be the same white shirt and trouser combo from years ago.

Kettering sent a signal that Latimer park won’t be an easy place to come and pick up points. The players showed a great work ethic and good organisation. Nicky Eaden is very much an upper level to Marcus Law. That showed when we were down to 10 men for the last 35 minutes or so. Good substitutions were made when Telford were well on top at that point. Stand out performances from Nti ,Skarz and MOTM display Paul White. Ex-Corby Town duo Kennedy and Carta looked comfortable at this level. Look most of us know it won’t be easy season & they’ll be some very difficult moments throughout the season but it was a great start nonetheless.
A mention to Telford fans who were in great voice and made it a good atmosphere throughout the game.

Should be a decent gate tonight for the Hereford game, pretty confident it should break any attendance record that stadium has had for Evesham (or us).

Just a shame we STILL aren't home, as in Gloucester we'd probably be looking at 3000+ pretty comfortably.

After two summers of player clear outs from the Cox era debacle we appear to have the makings of a decent team this season. 80% young kids with a point to prove either from the lower leagues or released from efl clubs. The workrate is absolutely phenomenal. Even five goals in front tonight Kane Felix (striker) chased the Bradford full back right down the field after losing possession. We've not seen that kind of mentality at Guiseley for a few years.

Saturday at Southport will I'm sure be a tougher test than the opening two games although Kings Lynn have some useful players they are very one dimensional and have zero plan 'B'. Park Avenue are a lost cause already, I'm certain our accademy team would wipe the floor with them.

Extremely disappointing game,Farsley showed no attacking play, all players behind ball and constant time waisting.
They are not a bad side either.
We had McGuire missing and could of played all night and wouldn’t of scored and nearly gifted them a winner.simply clueless against them.
Accept some teams do this but it’s second game of season

Chester 1-1 Alty.

Fair result, we equlised in the 93rd minute. Not at our best though and a bit disjointed. Alty were neat and tidy but no threat. Also some questionable off the ball behaviour from the lot of them all night.

Oh and Jonno got booked you'll all be surprised to hear, albeit for celebrating.

Alfreton 1-1 Boston

Off the mark with a hard earned point. Could have been oh so much for but for a calamitous error from our young, otherwise impressive keeper Jack Atkinson.

Boston will feel the least they deserved was a point as they completely dominated following the equaliser. The Boston keeper Crook pulled off two outstanding saves to deny Morgan-Smith and Smith.

We look defensively sound. Pretty sure last years team would have crumbled under the Boston pressure but we stood strong.

Still concerned about the were the goals are going to come from for us on a consistent basis. We going to need to remain defensively water tight.

Must win game for me on Saturday v Blyth. On another day we could easily be sat on 4 points from 2 games but thats football. Think 4 points from our opening 3 games would be a good return

Didn't post last night as I probably would have put my fist through the frigging laptop screen I was that pissed off. What could have been a decent derby game was ruined by a ref so far out of his depth it was embarrassing. Right from the kick off, for both sides to be fair until the red card, any kind of contact at all he blew up and gave a free-kick. Spoiled the tempo of the game.

Jake Jackson got clattered early on and reacted stupidly, kicking out. He got red carded, not really going to argue with that one. But Cullinane-Liburd then stamps on him, shoves him over and pushes another City player over - he only gets booked?! Another Hereford player runs across the pitch to get involved and grabs Jackson around the neck. Didn't even get spoken to! And that's basically how the game went...

Kieron Thomas fired Hereford ahead with us down to ten, decent finish in off the post. But not long afterwards he goes in flying two footed in the middle of the pitch. The ref has a chat and nothing. It was a red all day long. Fabien then is slightly late with a challenge, any other ref would have spoken to him and warned him one more and it's a yellow - it was his first offense. Nope he's booked.

Second half Fabien then pretty much does the same challenge, the ref couldn't wait to pull out his red card and we're down to nine. Despite their numerical advantage, Hereford continue with the safety first approach and barely threatened us. Really reminded me of when we played East Thurrock under Richards in the South when they went down to 9 (Which I posted in the south thread last season) where we could have really done some damage but continued to play mainly defensive, drab football to get 3 points. No wonder Hereford fans don't rate the Richards/Harris combo (but then tbh neither did we).

The penalty decision was an utter farce, Styche theatrically dived as everyone in the stadium could see. Ref waits literally 5 or so seconds before making his mind up and then points to the spot. The fact that even fans on the Hereford forum say they are embarrassed by that decision and dive says it all.

Have to say, Hereford's number 6 at the back (Josh Gowling) was the best player on the pitch. Looked very calm and assured. Decent player by the looks of it. But going forwards Hereford offered very little, Liburd did absolutely nothing until he was subbed.

1,570 attendance, a record at Evesham's ground I believe. Would have been 700 more if it was in Gloucester. And I'd certainly argue that some of those decisions would have been dramatically different if it was....

Absolutely ecstatic when that equaliser went in. We gifted them an early own goal and they spent the next 85 minutes trying to get the referee to send the excellent George Waring off. I lost count of the number of cynical, unpunished fouls. Our GK could have gone home after the goal.

Alarm bells ringing already - fans have already seemingly turned on Pemberton, never seen anything like it this early on the season although he is not the man to blame.

A piss poor budget and a bunch of kids is going to get us nowhere but looking over our shoulder.

Going to be a long old slog until the man at the top has gone.

That's about right
We certainly did eniugh for a point even if our goal was lucky
But for Crook though we'd have been 3 down. Margins

Still think our attacking play has been underwhelming in both games but at least we look relative solid at the back. I can't see us losing 19 games or whatever it was last year

Still, we go again on Saturday at Spennymoor, who's greatest achievement if both their fans are to be believed, has been keeping 4 clean sheets out of 4 against us!

Oh wait.....

Leamington 2 Brackley 0. Thought Brackley looked pretty good...but I've said that each time I've watched them and they never seem to take their chances (against Leamington anyway!). Decent game and a good start for Brakes, picking up 4 points from Kiddy and Brackley.

A 1-1 draw tonight between Darlington and Gateshead, in front of 1,989 fans.

I think it was a fair result, Gateshead I reckon will be top half, they look organised and close players down quickly. I thought they controlled the first half as they gave us no time on the ball, whereas we were the better side in the second half.

Saw some encouraging signs at times from us but very much a work in progress.

Unfortunately injuries are already piling up for us as we started the season without David Atkinson and Joe Wheatley, and tonight Jamie Holmes and Luke Trotman were injured - Trotman pretty seriously by the sounds of things.
