There was no vote when you were kicked out - but when you cheekily asked to be put in League 2 for the 20/21 season that was voted on in September - it's even referenced on Bury's Wikipedia page.

Obviously the EFL are not going to let us back in when we had no proof of funds. Wiki isnt reliable, I hope you do know this.

nope.... - the average stadium seat size is approx 19 inches (approx 48.3cm) so if you had a person sat in seat 1 in a row then seats 2,3,4 and 5 would need to be empty to maintain a 2 metre distance. Similarly there would need to be probably 3 empty rows behind - so only 1 seat in 20 could be used.... so a 9000 capacity all seater stadium could hold around 450 people if it complied with current social distancing measures......

Perfect for Salford then

Seriously though, Bradford are my very definition of a big team for this level of footy. Indian Dan said there's only three big clubs down here (Plymouth, Bradford and Swindon) and I fully agree with him. My criteria for what makes a team 'big' is simple - what sort of home crowds do they get? In Bradford's case, they could end up in the Connie North and still get 4/5000 fans through the gates.

so on a par with say Stockport County?

Wasn't Stockport's average home gate in the North a tad over 3000?
possibly i didn't check the actual number - but they were a team that stood out as not really being a club who should have been there based on support. It took them 6 years to get out of that league and if it took Bradford that long i doubt they'd have many more fans than the 3000

Just did a quick google search and it's around 3500 , and of course that number is impressive for what is the second tier NL football. Bradford are obviously bigger than County though and I very much doubt they would only get 3-3500 in the Connie North.

Just thinking about this ,as a non attending stags fan ,field mill has a 9000 ish capacity ,surely without away fans it would be possible to accomodate a crowd of say 4000 and stay within the social distancing rules ,just a thought

You're not that stupid are you?

I did a quick back of the fag packet calc for the stand I stand in (for away fans it’s the terrace to the left which runs along the full length of the pitch). It holds 1000 in each half ordinarily, 2000 total. I reckon our pitch is about 120 yards long and the stand is about 10 metres wide. So you can get 60 people on each row and 5 deep. So 300 under social distancing, so under a sixth of normal capacity.

Assuming seated areas are the same as terraces (can’t get my head round it to be honest) then the Abbey’s “social distancing capacity” would be around 1,300. That’s way beneath our break even point.

your pitch is 110 yards long which is 100.6 metres (call it 100..) so thats 250 people.
I was the surveyor when Barrow's Main stand was build and you'll get 1 seat out of 20 if you abide by social distancing...
so your social distancing figure would be 250 standing and (8000-1200)/20 = 340 seated.
so about 600 total social distancing capacity...

The other big issues though is how do you manage to keep the people 2m apart going into and out of the stadium and how would you safely evacuate in the event of a fire and still socially distance - you couldn't...

Lads, you cant be this desperate for football chat that you have to discuss whether your stadium can handle social distancing.

I did recalculate and edited my post, plus you missed the point that another of our stands is terraced too. But yeah, the point is we can’t operate on that level of attendance.

So if it is null and void, presumably if Bury can prove money in the kitty they could come back to League 1 whenever it starts?
The league will never accept a Bury run by Grizzly and nor should they

You could say the same of any supermarket, hospital or office block that's still open during the lockdown. I think if there's a fire then getting out takes precedence over social distancing.

Fingers crossed AFC Bury get up, running and enjoying football as soon as organised sport can resume in the UK.

Andy Pilley's proposal of permanent regionalisation of Leagues 1 and 2 is one of the most ridiculous proposals I've ever heard. Backwards thinking that reduces competition and creates more seasons ending earlier. Surprise it's by a bankrolling businessman who runs a vanity project. The argument that it creates more away fans through closer distances to travel is also a hollow argument. People will still pick and choose games, it just means that instead of taking a decent following for a mid-distance game in a nationalised league, you'll take less because it's a longer distance game in a regionalised league.

We're in the modern era, 1950s thinking will just cause away followings to dissipate when they're forced to go the same 15-20 venues every single season. The current model allows for greater turnover of clubs and that's why we need to keep it as it is.

true - but would you get re-issued a fire certificate for large capacity stands that are not hugely reduced in capacity when social distancing rules are in place?

Wellens on TalkSPORT this morning. We’re looking at returning to training 16 May in readiness for starting games in June. We have furloughed players but also topped up to 100% of players’ wages.

I presume all clubs are looking at a return - until reality bites anyway.

Spain is in the process of extending lockdown again for another 2 weeks to mid May and we are 2 weeks behind them. Reality will bite... it will just take some longer than others - but clubs do need to at least look prepared...

He said something along the lines of 'as much as i love Gillingham, nobody really wants to go there on a Tuesday night'.

Fleetwood don't travel in numbers, regardless of which day of the week it is.

Personally, it would be handier for me to go to games at the likes of Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol R and Torquay/Yeovil if they came back up, but there are plenty of places up north, i would like to go to as well (eg Rochdale)

I see that hypocritical Cnut Dale Vince is bleating about how unfair it is to have to compete financially with other clubs who have more resources.

‘Wage caps work, they create sustainable leagues and competitions, prevent distortions - and might even disincentivize ‘sportwashing’ by repressive, but extremely rich, regimes.’

Gets into the football league by outspending every other club to gain promotions and then when he comes up against clubs who have more resources he wants it all dumbed down so he can compete.

Complete prick.

and Barrow - Gillingham had fun getting here once many years ago... 09/10/1961 to be exact - in the years before we had floodlights.

"Due to travel problems, Gillingham arrived at the stadium at 5.30 pm - the time the game was due to kick-off. They had to change hurriedly, and due to their rushed preparation, were losing 7-0 when the game was abandoned due to poor light. The Football League declared that the result should stand.

Billy Jervis played his one and only Football League game for Gillingham. If the match had been declared null and void due to the abandonment his one league appearance would have been deleted from the record books."

Perhaps he should do the decent thing and take him, his team and the new eco friendly stadium back to the Southern League then.

The point itself isn't a bad one, albeit a bit hypocritical given we had a budget of £1.8m in the National League which is ridiculous tbf.

We were in the black in 17/18, on course to be in the black this season and would have been last season if the Doidge money had come through though, so these days at least we've cut back and are trying to be more self sufficient. We're no threat to the big spenders in this league.

As much as he might not like going to Gillingham on a Tuesday night, Fleetwood don't travel anywhere in numbers whether it's a Saturday afternoon or Tuesday night anyway!
