Thank fuck for that, we have players we weren't able to play yet (free transfers that were registered but as we couldn't pay them weren't able to play), so there may be a stronger squad[/QUOTE)
Firstly, congratulations Bolton and I am genuinely relieved and delighted that you won’t be going the same way as Bury.
The problem I have is that the likes of Tranmere, Ipswich etc. Can pick up 3 points and a plus 5 goal difference and then immediately the rest of the league have to play an entirely different team.
How is that protecting the integrity of the league?
I do understand that none of this is the fault of the current set up at Bolton and I wish you well going forward, I honestly do.
This though will be remembered as the season when the EFL were finally found out to be totally unfit for purpose.

We are only a month in and already this is one farce of a season.

Who do people realistically expect Bolton to now have in their side?

The window is shut, I imagine their team will still largely comprise of kids until January at least by which time everyone should have played them once already anyway.

Let’s have this right, they may have been saved but they’ll still be relegated as whipping boys. Stop fretting.

They've already got signings lined up. Jack Hobbs, Gary O'Neill, Will Buckley and Craig Conway should sign.

This. Plus there are quite a few good free agents still available.

I'm glad they've survived, however I do want them punished for cancelling their game Vs Doncaster. If the EFL just let them off then it will be a farce and show how they'll do anything for big clubs but let Bury go under.

League one window hasn't yet mate, think they have a fair few experienced players lined up.

Imo it's definitely unfair on the rest, however it's a small price to pay to make sure another club doesn't go out of business.

Agree, although another points deduction seems futile as they are already relegated.

Ignore me.

Forgot the L1 window shuts next week.

Still not worth getting annoyed over, only 4 teams have benefitted. There’s still 39 games to play.

It's just part of the landscape of league football though. John Coleman made pretty much the same complaint when Brunton Park was flooded and we had to play some home games in Lancashire. He thought teams who got to play us while we were homeless would have an unfair advantage over the rest of the league.

FORMER Wanderers owner Ken Anderson walked away with £240,000 from the sale of the club, The Bolton News understands.

The Football Ventures consortium finally completed their takeover on Wednesday, following months of complex negotiations.

Anderson was accused by the club’s administrators, David Rubin and Partners, of “using his position as a secured creditor to hamper and frustrate any deal that did not benefit him or suit his purposes” in the statement which announced the sale.
It has also emerged that an incredible £7.5million of debt was ‘forgiven’ by the Eddie Davies Trust.

Was £240k what he was owed? Or has he walked away with less?

He acually borrowed money off the previous owner so put nothing into the club, he also paid himself £525,000 when we were promoted from League One last time

Hobbs already signed and others on the way. Some of those named are a better calibre of player than TRFC could afford to bring in.

Those players were with Bolton last season - guess they gave their word to stay once the financial issue were sorted out?

Pretty frustrating that. I am glad they did not go under but a twelve point deduction does not seem sufficient for all the nonsense that has gone on. Hopefully the League will apply the deduction for the Doncaster game, rather than conveniently forgetting about it.

And the game they didn't play last season as well which they are yet to have had any disciplinary action for. It would restore some balance to a league already made stupid by the authorities letting them play with a youth squad.

Good that the takeover went through.

I believe all these are still to be delt with amd shoukd result in another 9 points off their total.

So the new owners have taken out £40m in loans to be repaid in 3 years.

What could possibly go wrong...

Lets hope they get the punishment deserved for the Doncaster game. Absolute disgrace,

I felt sorry for Bury but Bolton have been on the brink for years .

Makes an absolutely mockery of the whole debacle. They’ll be wanting sympathy in a couple of years time when they’re back in administration and wiping off tonnes more debt owed to small businesses and charities.

As I said in the Bury thread, this takeover for Bolton is likely just delaying the inevitable. Still, I was expecting the new owners to take more than a week to completely mess things up.

Scandalous but entirely unsurprising that the EFL have let them get away with it, simply because they were so desperate not to lose two clubs in one season.

So, who has thought lending £40m to a basket case football club is a good idea?

What’s worse about this, is that up til now clubs who’ve played Bolton have had a gimme 3 points, now with a more competitive squad the rest will have to actually fight for a win. How is that fair?

£40m + interest from private individuals (£20m each from Sharon Brittan and Nick Luckock, at 4% interest p.a. repayable in 3 years, the former being involved in property development... read into that what you will).

There is no law to prevent an entity loaning a business money, but surely the EFL would need to realise that this is an unsustainable amount.

I'm sure they do, but their hands are tied. Look at the furore because they didn't allow the Brazilian priest to buy Bury even though there was no due dilligance and imagine if they had kicked Bolton out after the administrators had agreed the sale.

I hate to say much pro EFL but they cannot win here.

Incorrect, it is one loan of £20million

I see Bolton played their “kids” last night just 3 days after playing at Gillingham. This coming after they postponed their fixture against Donny claiming concerns over their youngsters welfare. Couldn’t make it up.
On another note I don’t think it’s a forgone conclusion that Bolton will be relegated either. 60 points from 41 games isn’t such a tall order, especially with Keith Hill as manager and the players they’ve signed!
