Well as long as he doesnt act like a disrespectful knob or anything, but even if he doesn't there will probably be some idiots (chav element) boo him just for the sake of it.

There are no hard feelings from when he left, it was kind of expected.
I'm sure the section of our support who always hated him will now just hate him even more. Ironic considering they got what they always wanted when he left but this is how people's minds work.

Or a calculated risk. Swindon look almost nailed on for promotion and all the financial rewards that come with that. Spending a bit of money now to make certain they don't fall at the final hurdle might seem like a no brainer.
Aside from an increase in attendances, is there really much in the way of financial rewards from being in L1?

about £500,000 per year more in terms of EFL and solidarity payments than being in L2 but I imagine you can also charge more for sponsorship and tribunals will judge young players you sell as being worth more.

the increase in attendance is an important point in L1 taking aside teams that may go up or down.

Oxford, Bristol Rovers, Coventry, Wycombe and Portsmouth are just 5 off the top of my head which would see crowds of around 10k (depending on how well we are doing). I know you have Exeter and Plymouth in L2 that bolster crowds, but generally L2 teams don't travel in numbers to the CG

Also, as a L1 club, you're only one good season away from promotion to the Championship and an exponentially bigger leap in earning potential, and all that stuff together should make it easier to court investors who probably place an actual value on the probability of being promoted into the Championship as L1 team versus the probability of being relegated from the league altogether as a L2 team.

19/20 for the Swindon win, so you can almost double your money.

Carlisle must be about 3/1 or so? Surely that's worth a punt in a 3 horse race?

Every chance of playing Argyle and Exeter in L1 next season as well (i hope)

Bit cuntish from Beech

‘they’re backed up with a right-footed left-back [Rob Hunt] and [Paul] Caddis with his experience. People would think, ‘We can get at him, run at him, he’s getting old’ but it doesn’t work like that, they use their bodies well, get help off the linesmen and referees, talk them in, almost referee the games – young referees get sucked into the way they go about that, they’re very clever".

Why is that cuntish? He’s praising them. I obviously have different definition of being a c***. Like if he’d said he hopes that tomorrow they get their legs snapped and never play football again then that would be being a c***.

Genuinely if I was a footballer and an opposing manager said that about me pre match I’d take it as a compliment and I’d be pleased that other people in football notice and appreciate what I do on the pitch.

Because he’s basically saying we decide what the referees do. If you can’t see that then I suggest you get yourself to specsavers or whatever the Cumbria equivalent is.

Oh no, he’s saying you decide what referees do? What a vile cuntish thing to say about someone. I hope you and everyone are ok.

Seriously though, having the ability to influence a referees decision is a useful skill to have as a footballer in my opinion. Thats why I see it as praise. I wish we had players who could do it.

The refs at this level seem to just guess anyway, so if you can encourage them to swing some of their “guesses” your way then that’s good.

The point is that it’s just not true. We’ve influenced the officials so well this season into giving us 1 pen, no team we’ve played has had a player sent off, we’ve had the usual number of ridiculously bad decisions. Anthony Grant is the master of manufacturing a foul on him, though, I’ll give you that. It’s all bollocks in an attempt to influence today’s referee.

Right so it may not be true, but it is still a complimentary thing to say.

Like if I said Hallam Hope plays that left forward role like a prime Thierry Henry, it’s blatantly not true but it’s still a kind thing to say about a player. (Just watch him cut in and bend one into the top corner today now I’ve said that)

I think he’s just trying to big up your players. May well be some kind of mind game, but not being a c***.

Well I mean apart from us having Canice Carroll sent off in your first home game of the season.

I would just like to point out that Swindon have won every game this season when facing a bottom half team and Carlisle have lost to every team in the current top 8.

Wow how about that, we have now become the first bottom half team to not get beat off Swindon and for the first time this season we have not lost to a top 8 team.

Great point against a good team.

Both teams not at their best in terms of football due to the atrocious weather, but my god were Swindon physical. Shows why they are where they are, they can graft and scrap when they need to in conditions like today. Thought we weren’t going to be able to cope with it first 20 minutes then we found energy and matched them afterwards. Draw was fair in the end I’d say.

Some dirty challenges though. McKirdy got done with a 2 footed one that the ref didn’t even give a foul for. Then he got fouled again a bit later on, but the ref decided to let about 3 Swindon players each have a go at giving his legs a good kicking while he was on the floor before he blew for the free kick. He had to go off a few minutes later due to the damage that was inflicted.

Thought at first view that Grant tackle on McKirdy was borderline. The only thing that saved him a red was that he got the ball.

Can’t remember the last time we played in ‘normal’ weather conditions.
