Uncle fester still knocking about? Knob.

There was a sentimental thing about bringing jack lester back - never a good move for anyone when you bring someone back like that - few on stagsnet have said Paul cox would be a good shout for them, knows non-league inside out - wouldn’t be a bad shout. I know how mansfield fans would take to an ex-chesterfield manager so not sure if that would wreck any deal?

There's no money left for Cox to wring out of Chesterfield, is there? He's probably still living off his Guiseley millions anyway.

beggars and choosers though bud.

Admittedly the budget we had with cox was pretty huge but he should still do a job.

Though it appears there were alternate reasons chesterfield appointed Sheridan usually the worst thing that ex-league clubs do is bring in a manager who’s only ever known football-league - the conference is nothing of the sort - it’s a completely different animal.

Again though, what would Ronnie Moore know about the conference? Get someone in who actually knows it and the best players down there

Ronnie Moore is a dinosaur, the game has passed him by.

He managed Eastleigh and Hartlepool down here but I agree. We don't want or need him but not suprised he is sniffing about.

I still think we need a young ambitious manager currently in the league or league below. Barrow, Harrogate, Bromley or York managers. fit that sort of bill though I've not idea what sort of clout the proposed new owners have in terms of bringing someone like this in.

Aye, I remember but don’t recall him doing anything with either of them, though he was more league I think with Hartlepool - we got cox from Eastwood - didn’t go down well at the time but as you mention someone that knows the league is and what it’s about.

Your situation is slightly different as your chairman is a knob (I know how that one goes!) but it’s only when your club and fans admits it’s non-league - (Took us 3 seasons) that you can start recovery - unless you’re fortunate enough to go up first time.

He didn’t manage us down here

I think your chances of getting the 1st 3 managers are slim to nothing - Steve Watson at York possibly not either?

What exactly were you doing for three seasons? It took us about ten minutes of the first game.

More the mentality “we’re a league club, shouldn’t be down here” etc etc etc - can’t say I personally had that approach but it’s something you see very often more with the club - bring in players and managers who know sod all about the division then wonder why you’re shit.

That said the first 2 seasons we didn’t have a pot to piss in and nearly went into admin before JR came along.

Are Robbie Fowler and Paul Ince still applying for every job?

Chesterfield could do worse than give it to Adie Pennock or Mark Yates til the end of the season. Both have done rescue jobs at this level and would sort out the defence.

Yates now owns a cafe in Bewdley. Can't see him relocating anywhere.

Honestly don't think we've really had that mentality, we were abject last season and fully deserved everything we got followed by a race to beat Bury to oblivion over the summer.
What we do have is higher expectations of ourselves than perhaps Chorley or Dover do. Not because we have a God given right but because we have been under performing relative to the resources thrown at us for the last ten years.

We’ve seemed more humble and relaxed as a club than we ever did in League Two or even when we were sacking managers for not being in the League One promotion places. I think you’ve got to give the owners (and Ardley to an extent as well to be fair) the credit for that, it reflects the way they’ve gone about things since day one.

The Notts fans (on here and elsewhere) have been a pleasant surprise actually, hardly any of the billy big bollocks attitude you would expect from a club of their size.

We've spent years having our gonads crushed by Forest ,admin, relegation scraps for fifteen of the last twenty years and mental owners.

looking at the Chesterfield site it looks like the takeover "might" happen by the end of January or by the Wrexham game in early Feb at the latest - which if correct surely has to be bad news for other teams near the bottom of the league

Listen to AdamStag, he's somewhat of a Non League expert. Although he selectively choosey to forget what it was like down here from time to time when it suits.

Clearly not on this Chesterfield thread.

Not sure any Notts fan on here is billy big b0ll0cks , a few on our main unofficial one but I've never seen on here with the classic 'we should be beating teams like...' et al.

It's a myth, as Optipez says we have been the little brother in Nottingham since the 60s and multiple periods in Admin, and rattling buckets etc really doesn't allow it for the normal fan

Tim Flowers should apply, he would get Chesterfield kicking and elbowing their way up the league

Its no job for a first timer, I can imagine their fan base is incredibly angry
