How can leagues be suspended? By the time games can be resurrected every club will have players out of contract. Matches have to be fulfilled with the squads as they were when games were stopped.

What’s the alternative? Juventus have literally got a player who tested positive this week. Whole squad has to go into isolation, as do Inter players. Every time a player or official tests positive the same thing will happen.

3 Leicester players now in isolation. If they test positive then surely everyone that’s come into contact with them will need to be isolated too? That includes Villa players.

This is shit. Just keep the league table as it is. Auto generate the play off fixtures and have done with it. Can be no arguments with that.

If suspended they could maybe take results from the reverse fixture not played and count as double? At least a relative football solution... if the table was just taken as it is now (obvs PPG for teams will less games played then say Team X had played most of the weaker teams but Team B hasn't ... Team A and B are close in the table...

So now La Liga, Serie A and the Eredivisie are all officially suspended. UEFA going to meet on Tuesday and most likely to announce that the CL and EL are suspended, and the Euro’s will be moved to 2021. Australian GP off as well.

Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Premier League almost certain to follow I reckon. Be irresponsible not to at this point I reckon.

If Euro's off close the EFL season now until hopefully May and then finish it with Tues-Sat and Play off Final early-mid June. Delay New Season a couple of weeks... no money lost on behind closed doors.

Whatever this pandemic is, it isn’t going to be over any time soon.

I'll take that, you're right I almost certainly am regarded as the main voice of reason round here and was for a long period of time before I stepped down in the aftermath of the single match thread debacle and now it's just a chaotic state ruled by unlawful officials.

Whatever this pandemic is, it isn’t going to be over any time soon.
Hopefully it'll slow right down in the spring/summer though.

Right, listen up people. The season is over and mods/admin can close this thread.

I've been asked, together with two other fellow L2 experts, to form part of a three man pools panel and what we say goes, like. I'm afraid I cannot divulge just yet the four sides that the three of us have agreed on - after a very heated debate and coming to blows on multiple occasions - as meriting promotion, nor can I confirm that Boro will indeed be in the NL next season.

This is what the committee has decided on re. the upcoming L2 fixtures.

Bradford - Leyton Orient 1a
Cambridge - Cheltenham 1h
Colchester - Scunthorpe 3H
Exeter - Salford 3
Forest Green - Northampton 1a
Grimsby - Carlisle 2
Macclesfield - Walsall 3
Mansfield - Crewe 1aH
Morecambe - Plymouth 1h
Oldham - Swindon 3H
Port Vale - Crawley 1
Stevenage - Newport 2

Grim predictions from the medical expert at the Downing Street press conference. He predicted that 80% of the population will get Coronavirus, with a mortality rate of 1%...which will be highest in the old and those with existing medical conditions.

UK population is around 63m
80% of that is approximately 50.4m
1% of that (predicted deaths) = 504,000!

Edit: They just mentioned on the radio that Italy has just over 15k diagnosed cases, with 1k deaths...which makes the above figures look a bit on the conservative side if we match what has happened in Italy.

Mikel Arteta tests positive for coronavirus, Arsenal v Brighton off. PL having emergency meeting tomorrow, expect all fixtures to be suspended indefinitely. EFL will surely follow.

Problem is this could go on for weeks, so no idea when or if leagues will restart.

Well after the last hour you’d think it could be the end of the season (for now at least), Premier League clubs crisis meeting tomorrow after Arteta has been diagnosed, three Leicester players being tested and Bernard Mendy is in isolation after a family member caught it. Sounds like the clubs want it suspended now and you’d assume the EFL will then have to follow suit.

Notice Andy Holt, Gary Neville and McAnthony have been fairly vocal about not playing on twitter too.

Never known anything like this and no precedent in recent times!

I reckon they'll wait a month, if things are still bad then scrap the season.

Unfortunate for clubs currently doing well, but shit happens and some things are more important.

I’ve lost most enthusiasm for it if I’m honest because if it ends up which it inevitably will, making the play offs (would be the first time since 1993) just to be watched on a stream in an empty stadium isn’t what it’s about. I’d rather we fall short and miss out and do it next season if that’s the case!

Without the fans it’s nothing so do the right thing, have a fund to cover clubs losses and see what happens when the time is right. Money is in the game to protect clubs through this event which is on of their doing (wouldn’t expect most Vale fans to demand refunds on the lost games anyway season ticket wise) I wouldn’t request my four games left on the ten game ticket back!

I’m just thankful we’ve got owners that will cover any financial trouble during this period.

Based on today’s position government wise it looks even more unlikely now we will get any games.

It’s so boring the only bit of fun has been the Crewe and Vale official twitter pages having a bit at each other and the excitement for the upcoming Fifa tournament organised by Orient.

Depends on how long that period is, though. I reckon we’re going to miss out a complete season. If that’s the case, I’d say virtually every ‘small’ club has had it.

The Man City money will be handy for us to survive, luckily we didn’t spend it in January! If we did lose a whole season though it would be difficult as you’ve still got players under contract but no income! That would cripple most clubs at this level and leave many out of contract players jobless.

There will also be a raft of OOC players with no prospect of getting another club anytime soon.

Football’s Twitter section has been the worst bit tbf. Like school kids when a dog is in the playground.

Good luck to those clubs missing out on revenue in troubled times.

Not sure when we will see football again - not till June at least as people have been told to isolate or shut down for 12 weeks.
