Echoing what I said about Mansfield when we played them.

Just telling you what I saw, has your squad changed that much since last season when you challenged? I think you’ll finish higher up the league.

We probably improved the squad from last season, but it means absolutely nothing with our manager.

We are a lower mid table side, but we have a budget and set of players that should be competing for automatic promotion, so forgive us, but we are absolutely fucking shit :bg:

I thought Mansfield were pretty pedestrian (in cba playing for their manager sort of way) and there for the taking tbh. We were by far the better side over all and it's poor we didn't put them to sword but then with the quality of the chances Mansfield did have we still could have easily lost it 4-1. Weird.

btw, anyone know the point of James Jones?

Thing is you have no idea how we play usually, hence why this notion we are any good is really weird.

I cannot stress enough how poor the division is this season, and let’s be honest the only reason we are currently not really thinking about relegation is because only one team will go down.

I actually enjoyed watching mansfield today, we actually put in a decent performance and were well worthy of the point, especially against a limited crewe side (presumably on the day given their league performance).

Indeed, had you had to pick out a side who should have won the game it probably would have been us - crewe were probably the better side - mansfield had the better chances.

The issue is this performance is one out of the blue - perform like this next week at home to Northampton and the home crowd will warm to them, full of effort and commitment, guile and trickery this performance was one to actually be pleased about - the first time I’ve clapped off in a few months and for once happy I didn’t win on betting against my side.

It’s Upto the players to perform next week against Northampton not the fans - the fans have seen enough poor performances at home - play like they did today and there’s a chance the atmosphere might not be so toxic next week.

My stance on dempster remains - he shouldn’t be the manager of mansfield town. For me next Saturday is do or die.

Fair point. But we can only go on what we see. If you can’t reproduce that sort of performance on a regular basis, where does the problem lie? Players or Dumpster?

Generally we have played very well away from home this season. The reason we are bottom half is the six home league defeats and Maynard missing at least two gilt edge chances every game, even though he is top goal scorer if you don’t count Danny Rose’s penalties.

He couldn’t manage his fucking dinner.
Eh? :dk:

Think you’re getting your jokey phrases mixed up there, if a striker is shit then the joke is ‘he couldn’t finish his fucking dinner’ but for a manager ‘he couldn’t manage his fucking dinner’ makes pretty much no sense whatsoever.

I thought the game was a very good advert for league 2 football. We played some lovely football, whilst Mansfield were one of the better counter attacking teams I've seen. How that game ended 1-1 il never know 4-4 would have been more reflective of the type of game it was. Both sides hit the post, we had one cleared of the line, and Maynard missed two one on ones. As has already been said I thought we dominated the game as 70% possession and more attempts on goal suggests, but the more clear cut chances fell the way of Mansfield. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Stags climb the table in the new year, despite his misses today Maynard will score goals, his movement is 2nd to non at this level.

The guy is still trading on the form he showed 2 years ago, he's been mostly poor for 18 months now. I don't know whether its lost development from not playing, his attitude or that his body might be shot, but his play is uninspiring and dangerous at times. He lost the ball deep in our 2-3 yesterday and it's a growing theme with him. If he were a rookie, I'd chalk it down to growing pains, but the guy has been playing for 4 years now. No excuse for such poor decision making.

He's headed down the George Ray path for me, we'll offer him a deal, I think he'll be old enough to reject it without us getting compensation and he'll leave for free. It's for the best. It'll allow the likes of Regan Griffiths, Connor Heath and Joe Robbins to come in, we'll need some fresh blood as we'll likely see Green, Wintle and Jones all gone for next season.
