I liked Trump on the Apprentice USA, and his wumming now he's president is hilarious. People get outraged by stuff way too easily, it's funny seeing the shitstorm from the pc brigade on twitter every time he trolls.

And unless I'm mistaken you mean this as a compliment?

So because I have different opinions about football I must be in the EDL or national front. Ok then.....

Uruguay always remind of the Italians, and not in a good way.Keep it tight at the back, then look to win the game right at the death, something the pasta lovers were famous for. Boring footy.

exactly my impression, too, Vanni.

As for the Saudis, no I don't think they're that bad actually, more like they had an off day.

Yeah, I watched them last Friday against us in a friendly and they were way better than yesterday (or the Russians are just so much better than us :D ). The 5-0 was a bit too heavy but for the World Cup it can only be good when the host starts with a good win (although I hated it to see Putin's face so often, after every goal they showed him ;) )

I also reckon that FIFA standings don't really mean much. Russia are ranked 70th right? And yet the sides they met in the WC friendlies were mostly big names in footy so how does this ranking actually work I ask? Surely it's better to play the likes of Estonia and Belarus than say Brazil and France as far as FIFA ranking is concerned?

Friendlies have a "lower value" for the standings I think (don't know for sure). You get more points when you win competitive matches (qualifiers) than friendlies. And only playing weaker nations don't get you many points

btw: For the match Uruguay vs Egypt: I could only watch the last 5 mins when I came home. Seems I was lucky because I read it wasn't a "burner" this match.

Can someone explain to me why the Shirt of the Urus had 4 Stars above their crest? Our shirt has also 4 Stars (for every World Cup win). Does the stars have a different meaning for them? Just curious

Massive result for Uruguay, I fancied them to win the group beforehand and grinding out wins when not playing well is the sign of a good team. Egypt still have a decent chance but must beat Russia in their next game, and with the Russians having home advantage I'd edge them as slight favourites especially if Salah isn't fit.

2 for the World Cups in 1930 and 1950, 2 for the Olympics in 1924 and 1928 which are apparently recognised by FIFA as World Championships.

Thanks for taking the time to answer DippyDon .

In German Media this was discussed yesterday too after the match. It is said here that FIFA had made it clear in 2010 that only official World Cup title earn you a star, so it should be "only" 2 for Uruguay.
But as you said the Urus validate their 2 Olympic wins in 1924/1928 as "World Cup" titles and they "bypassed" the FIFA "rule" by integrating 4 Stars into their official FA crest. Clever clever :D
