Disputing the nearest station to Maldon: Witham or Hatfield Peverel, maybe North Fambridge, are surely nearer than those bigger towns. Maldon is one of the nicest towns in Essex, though - a good awayday, really. Great pubs. The town brims with character. Rather than characters, like some of the grimmer coastal towns (and villages) nearby.

Eastleigh or Stourbridge away for us. Decent draw, I'd prefer Stourbridge as it's alot closer but we also owe Eastleigh one, seeing as they humiliated us in 2015. Might have a chance of being on TV also, but looks to be a couple more likely choices.

Trust me, you don't want Stourbridge

When it got down to the last 8 teams, best we could hope for was a home draw and that's what we got.

I still don't think we'll beat Swindon, but at least it gives us something to play for.

A shit draw for non-league teams. Only Maldon & Tiptree getting a relatively decent home draw. Arguably the only game guaranteed to be on telly.

If playing us is something to play off your easily pleased!

Oh well, that’s us out. At least we had a bit of fun in the first round.

Now we can fully focus on trying to stay up.

So basically our choices are Swindon away who we havent won away at since 2005 and have been thrashed there several times since then or Cheltenham away a team that we havent beat away since 2006. We might aswell not bother playing the game and let either of them have a bye through.
I've been Swindon away twice and we have lost 6 nil and 5 2 so I'm never going there again and Cheltenham I've been 4 times and seen a nil nil 1 1 2 nil loss and a 5 1 loss so I arnt going there ever again either. Even though we have improved as a team theres no chance of us getting through that tie.

It’s winnable Andy, we’ve beaten the top two away and only lost 4 all season. Our best performances are against sides near the top, should suit us in terms of that.

Be tough though, no doubt a replay and having to play either side 3 times in four weeks!

It’s a real shit one though, can’t even say I have a preference as to which to play. With ten or so teams left it was pretty obvious it was going to be a shit one.

With how poor that draw is I think I'd rather focus on the league but not sure we are quite good enough for the play offs.
The only positive I can see from that draw is at least it wont be embarrassing if we lose aa everybody would expect us too. We never get anything at Swindon home or away and I doubt theres many teams with a better home record this calendar year in the football league than Cheltenham.

If I had a choice of win the cup tie of the xmas league tie against either then I’d pick the league but meh one of them, hopefully we can perform as we have been lately and get a result. We won’t have any fears and be confident and I expect so will they.

Yeovil or Hartlepool at home is a good draw for us if we can somehow win at Exeter.

Are the Swindon and Cheltenham league games at home or away? I usually go 1 away match a month so as it stands that will be Mansfield. The only good thing about winning the cup tie over the league is the 50k you get for going through as you know if we did get through to the 3rd round we would get another shit draw.

Your game against us is at Vale Park.

If playing us is something to play off your easily pleased!

Given our home record this calendar year, I fancy us against anyone at Whaddon Road (except FGR). That's what I meant by something to play for. A chance for a home tie and an opportunity of a money-spinning 3rd round game.

Northampton has always been a rugby town so fair enough

Haha no Mr Magpie, we have an agreement where we move alternately. 4x4 brigade are never thrilled to have to move their games for pokey League 2 football!

Home Carlisle. Two free flowing footballing sides, should be a good spectacle. Think we've got half a chance, but it wont be easy.

Mansfield at home should we beat Shrewsbury, could’ve been better, could’ve been worse.

I doubt id get a ticket in truth. Ground only holds 2600, so we would likely only get about 300 odd tickets. Hoping it gets on the TV.

Yeah we only got 400 when they dumped us out in 2016

Should we get through Shrewsbury on a cold Tuesday night in front of 4,000, we get to play Mansfield on a cold Saturday in front of 6,000. Magic of the cup.
