This is happening again. I think all the big teams are inserting kids' sides this season.

Anything to note from your game against Chelsea U21, Swindon fans?

We have Liverpool's youngsters tomorrow.

Not really. Played well in parts. Their forwards made our defenders look worse than they are. Nobody got injured. Turned out to be a decent exercise in a glorified friendly. Hopefully Plymouth beat us and we can focus on getting out of the division rather than who do we least want to risk getting injured in this bumhole of a competition.

Normally be bang up for games against Brighton and the Mudrats. Shame they’re in this godawful shite. I’d rather be in the FA Trophy again.

1500-odd at BP to see Oldham 3-2 Liverpool U21s

Watched the second half off of Liverpool's website. Our second string mostly just sat back and let them play in front of us. Took advantage of a defensive error and 2 set pieces to overcome a talented set of youngsters who had the better of the play.

Can see fans being unhappy if we set up that way for proper games at home, but a result is a result.

Oh no, not this thing again.

We’ve got the “ honour” of hosting Everton under 23s or whatever the age group is along with Crewe and burton

Our fans team have organised a game against Scunny fans team on the same night as our game with proceeds going to charity.

Did the same thing a couple years ago, can't remember how many turned up as opposed to the actual game, but at least we are doing something to show what a farce this competition is.

We’ve got Shrewsbury for the third season running at home in this, they knocked us out two years ago and we returned the favour last year.

Should be sub 1000 as usual for the group games in this. Be interesting to see how many we take Macc Town later this month as we usually take big followings there in league games, luckily we travel there twice in quick succession.

Other than the cash which at least this season we know will go into the club it’s a waste of time. Hopefully play the lads who haven’t played much or at all.

We set our record low crowd the last time we were in it. Suspect we’ll unfortunately get four figures for Southend as it’ll be a derby.

Burton at home. Good chance to play some of the back up players. Hoping and expecting a sub 1k crowd.

I normally couldn't care about these games but our match on Tuesday is a chance to pick up our first win since March. I am assuming Grimsby will play their back ups, we don't have any backups really due to injuries so most of our first team will play. A win here could boost confidence which we are crying out for.

We're showing the competition the contempt it deserves by only opening one stand tomorrow. We open more for pre season friendlies.

I'd go full on rotation to be honest, get all the fringe players a start. A team of Richards, Johnson, Sass-Davies, Hunt, Adebisi, Jones, Offord/Lundstram/Heath, Finney, Ainley, Dale and Anene would be my choice. Artell though takes it seriously for the prize money, so I reckon we'll see a few changes, but not the whole XI. Reckon Richards, Dale, Anene and Adebisi will start, maybe Ainley for Green in midfield as well.

We won't want to be fined, which I believe you can be if you play to much of a changed side. Anene, Dale, Ainley, Finney and Jones are surely bankers to start though.

How many changes are allowed?

We've got some promising kids that would benefit from a game like this, seems silly if they aren't allowed to play given the whole point of allowing u21 teams in was to give playing time to young English players.

According to the rules, we must have 4 'qualifying' outfield players. And those 4 have to have made 40 first team appearances. Which would mean Jones and Ainley fall into that category. So by rights the way I read it, we could make 9 changes from the one that starts on Saturday and get away with it, because starting Jones, Ainley and say Nolan and Ng would give us 4 'first team' players. I doubt Artell will go that crazy though, I'm expecting 5, maybe 6 max.

Ross Embleton has confirmed that we will be making changes for our home game with Southend, the likes of James Alabi, Matt Harrold, Dale Gorman and George Marsh will likely feature.

We've got a few injuries in defense, so we're likely to keep the same back 5 including Dean Brill in goal.

Southend are likely to be full strength as they have no game Saturday, if they lose this then I'll be amazed if Kevin Bond isn't sacked - Especially if James Alabi scores. I'm amazed he's still in a job now to be honest.

Would still rather play in the FA Trophy again with proper clubs, than this glorfied U23 experiment. We'll likely get around 1,000.

I can't imagine our tie at home to Cheltenham will get the juices flowing. Some City fans are saying they are going to Exmouth v Yate in the FA Cup tonight. Arguably a bigger game.
Hope that we use it purely to assess fitness and give the kids some experience.

The attendances are now literally the most interesting thing about this competition now in my eyes. Accrington Vs Fleetwood could be a corker, I'm guessing less than 500.

Tonight is an opportunity for us to actually get some confidence back with a win. Jolley has said Grimsby are gonna play some backups, we can't really do that due to injuries. However, if we lose to Grimsby's backups with almost our first team starting that will completely kill any little bit of confidence the team has left.

We've made just the 8 changes which is good to see. Burton on the other hand look to have gone full strength so hopefully were out of this competition pretty sharpish.
