And once again, Paul H screws up, this time by posting a live version of Meat is Murder instead of the PROPER studio one. And he's getting the 'likes' too for his rather feeble efforts, including one from yours truly. Pathetic :ffs:

I humbly suggest that something as important and deadly serious like the Music WC be run by someone half competent who actually knows his blues from his jazz. I nominate one of these cool cats - Steven, Alan, MK, Abers or LOTAL, for next year's event. Sorry if I'm forgetting some of you guys who may be equally knowledgeable in musical matters, however not liking The Killers is a prerequisite for this not-to-be-taken-lightly job.

PS - Chill Paul, I'm only (half) kidding ;)

I posted a live Nirvana clip and no one batted an eyelid. A lot of the time, it's better live, though I wouldn't know with this one, as I'd never listen to anything by the Smiths.

A LIVE Nirvana track? That's unacceptable.

Seriously though, it took me quite a long time to get into The Smiths. I mean I liked a few tracks of theirs like 'How Soon is Now'and 'Handsome Devil' but couldn't get myself through an entire album. I also thought they were over rated at first, but then it suddenly clicked and I finally got it.

This has happened with a load of other bands too. Actually, sometimes, I think it's better this way.

I think this task requires something more than knowing your

I am minded to go along with Edmund Burke - "The arrogance of age must submit to be taught by youth."

Some of us have neither the technical ability nor attention span to produce a shopping list, let alone organise a ballot/referendum/forum vote.

That said, I have a suggestion. For next year, we might consider group stages that better mirror the nonsense that is FIFA World Cup organisation. There may be other aspects of the FIFA approach that tickle someone's fancy but my suggestion is Groups run by the regional equivalents of Oceania, Africa, Asia, etc. (rather than just an initial nomination/vote process. We don't have to get all nationalistic (our equivalent could be musical genres or some more obtuse criteria) but geographical group stages might broaden some of our horizons.

Well done Alan, the job's all yours. EU'S ARSE? And there I was thinking I knew my punk, especially of the anarcho/hc variety :emb: Tis a pity I can't understand one word they're saying (Italian?)

I was never much good at shopping lists. In fact I go to the supermarket w/o a list and just buy whatever catches my fancy, only to go back home and discover I had forgotten all about that one vital thing that should've been top of the imaginary shopping list. Like coffee for instance.

and I was only kidding re. Paul H. He's doing a great job, and I believe I had already thanked him before for running this. I'll thank him once again when we're at the end of this splendid contest, which I believe was actually Tilbury's idea before he went awol.

I'm not fucking doing it. Looks like a absolute shit load of work. Tilbury left the bloody forum rather than have to write up a load of shite about shite bands. I'm depressed enough about the quite frankly abysmal taste shown by the good folks of 1FF, let alone actually write something positive about this load of crap.
Pauls doing a FINE job.
Good day.
