Disgrace of a statement from Dale Vince. FGR fans were a decent bunch (and are on here as well - yes, even Chris), but the club itself can get reet tae fuck.

Cracking game that, was impressed by Orient looked a real threat second half put us under a lot of pressure. Panic stations when they hit the bar, thought we'd done a Crewe. Massive relief when Junior got our 4th. Maguire-Drew changed the game, actually did pretty well against us for once (unlike him not to "crumble") and Angol looked quality as well. Nice to see Turls making it at this level too, top lad who did well for us.

Adams wound them up, as expected, and was motm, as expected.

Bit dodgy at the back for once but the good thing is we now look like we have goals in us most games. Need to keep the ball better when we're in front, but can't really complain, 18 games in and second in the league is a lot better then I expected.

Decent club Orient, good banter with some of their lot.

“You’re an imposter for Justin Edinburgh”, it’s been confirmed. I will be knocking Cooper’s teeth out if I ever have the misfortune to bump into him.
Two different versions of same incident.
None of us were close enough to hear what was said.
FGR have agreed to assist Orient in a full review of what happened.
Dale Vince [FGR chairman] has put his own reputation on the line in defending his manager. Should MC have lied to DV he will be history. But if not then Orient manager owes MC an apology.
Whatever the outcome it has spoilt a good day for both teams.
FGR had the win but in 2nd half Orient were by far the better team and with a bit of luck could have done enough to actually win game.
I echo Chris's comments - everything about Orient is great, whether it be the ground, crowd, security or fact they sell super fantastic pie & mash :10:

Yep, the pie and mash was quality.

On the Edinburgh thing, maybe it was misheard or something. If he and Cooper were mates, it seems unlikely tbh. Could be Cooper said Embleton was 'Just an amateur' or something. Who knows.

Not that big a deal anyway imo, Heard a lot worse at football then what was alleged. Everyone at FGR I know had a lot of respect for JE whenever we came up against his teams, had decent banter and often beat us, so hopefully no hard feelings.

What I suspect may have happened is that somebody on the FGR bench made some sort of comment that Orient manager attributed to Mark C.
I know MC is an honest person and I'm sure he would never say anything detrimental about a deceased fellow manager.

Really big shame to hear about Forest Green's manager and owner mocking a dead man on the touchline yesterday.

I, like many people will have rarely heard anything positive or negative about Forest Green football club but this is now national news and my opinion of them is of course now extremely negative. The only way the owner can help restore some respect is by relieving the manager of his duties.

Innocent until proven guilty. The fourth official has not reported any comments made by Cooper. You would think he'd be in a decent position to hear them.

You don't sack someone based on hearsay. We're doing too well to shoot ourselves in the foot just because of some he said/she said bollocks.

Imagine being a Forest Green fan though and how they're going to be treated from now on?

They'll have told people they're a Forest Green fan at work or whatever, no fucker will have heard of them and then the first they hear of them is that their manager has mocked a man who died of a heart attack. It's a 100 times more embarrassing than any bad run or whatever. The manager simply has to go.

Clearly on a wind up mate. You ever heard of someone getting sacked over something they're alleged to have said without proof other then the word of someone who has nothing to do with our club, and with previous for being a hot head in the past?

The only facts are Embleton has got wound up about Ebou Adams, pushed Cooper called him fat and chucked chewing gum at him, getting himself sent off in the process. Given the state he was in not sure whether he would have properly heard what was said, so unless anyone can produce evidence then why should we sack our manager?

Cooper's no saint but he's denying it so gotta assume he's innocent. If Orient prove otherwise it's a different story.

I'm no Cooper fan but if what he said is true then how does it mock Justin Edinburgh? The pair were friends. Rather, it makes a statement that your current manager is nowhere near the same quality as Edinburgh. Sure, it was not a wise thing to say given how recent JE's death was. I can understand the emotional flare-up it received, but it wasn't JE being insulted.

Cooper has a history of generally arguing with everyone who's not on his side on many things. It creates a siege mentality and he thrives on that, whether by design or circumstance.

Vince should have kept his mouth shut but he tends to chime in on everything regardless of facts.

Shock horror - 2 sides have different versions of events .

Unless it's picked up on a mic it's hard to prove either way.

How sensible is it to base an opinion on something that you acknowledge may not be true?

The FA is not investigating Forest Green Rovers manager Mark Cooper following their match with Leyton Orient on Saturday.
Mark Cooper, Forest Green Rovers head coach, said: “I’m pleased the FA have given such a swift and clear statement on this matter.

“I can assure everybody that nothing like that was said – it’s wrong that Justin’s name was dragged into this. We’re now focused on a really important game against Crewe Alexandra.”

There is no doubt words were said between the two.

Personally, I have no doubt not to believe Ross and Mark Cooper can expect plenty of stick in the return game.

But I also know upon reflection that Ross cannot keep mouthing off to the 4th official and to the opposition bench if he is getting wound up by whats going, ultimately he has taken the bait and again found himself in the stands.

Ross has previous of making shit up when he was at Swindon. He's no saint.

Basically this is a spat between two blokes who fell out while working together at Swindon, with some cheap points scoring going on. In reality it's got nothing to do with either Orient or FGR and nothing to do with Justin Edinburgh either, who was a colleague of Embleton and friends with Cooper. Something's been made out of nothing.

Embleton reckoned his dad was attacked, hit, call it what you want, in the Arkells stand at Swindon.

Apart from it being populated almost exclusively by the tartan rug and thermos flask brigade and 99% of them unable to identify Embleton let alone his dad, it was all a load of bollocks.

He was/is great mates with Luke Williams who, unfortunately, took over the manager’s job after we sacked Cooper.

Cooper had been paranoid about Williams being after his job before he was sacked.

Whatever happens,it doesn’t stop Cooper being an unlikeable prick.
