Looking forward to seeing Rangers back in the SPL?

German Football in the Rangers Thread. WTF

(And in the German Football Thread mistermagic and me are nearly alone ;))

That was a game, indeed, reminded me a bit of the Germany vs Sweden WC Qualifier 2013 where we were 4-0 up after 60 min and then collapsed completely and it was 4-4 at the end.

A friendly mocking, Leo. See I already put a like under your post and put a smiley under mine. So I had thought that you would understand that it was only a bit mocking. Sorry, if you're offended by my post, that wasn't my intention. All good again?

Yep, lovely them Celtic lot.

How anyone can want that despicable football club to win anything let alone games against Rangers I'll never know.

There is no club I hate more on this planet.

I don't know if you are aware or not mate....there was a lot of damage caused to a toilet are by Rangers arseholes (I mention this before any Celtic leaning member comes on)....but the banner displays and the effigies shown are the products of very bigoted, evil & hate filled people. Apparently one of the effigies was wearing an orange sash (Rangers fans, protestants, Orange Order) and what was done could be considered a 'hate' crime. It is still to be seen if any action will be taken either be Celtic FC and/or the Police.

"Know your place. Hun scum" Normally the Germans are called "Huns" when they want to insult us?

Besides that: Disgusting behaviour of some morons from both sides. Rivalry is okay. Hate isn't. Hate has no place in sports. But you can't teach idiots it seems.

The destruction of the toilets, I saw the pics in another forum, is disgusting, too. I hope they can identify these assholes and ban them forever. Those are no football fans but criminals who are not interesting in football but only to cause havoc!

I have seen them.

I won't deny that there is more than a few morons that follow rangers but it annoys me that every thing they do is scrutinised whilst Celtic are always portrayed as these saints. There was more being made of a toilet being smashed up than there was of those pictures.

Well it wasn't really worth the wait was it? The authorities claimed Armageddon would happen with no Rangers, but things were actually far better without them. The SFA have openly welcomed the return of their money spinning fixture. Ex Rangers players and pundits haven't shut up for months, and then we get that. Well, thank goodness Rangers were back to lose 5-1 rather than any other Scottish side getting hammered by Celtic.

On the pitch, will things improve? Rangers have lost tens of millions of pounds getting from tier 4 to this level, and most of that was against part-time sides. Where is the grasp of money? You don't need an £8k a week left back to beat Peterhead, never mind the other players they signed from the SPL just to win League Two. They've since done what was possibly the most stupid thing they could have done and bought half a dozen big name over the hill players on big wages that are nowhere near the standard needed to get to the top of Scottish football, never mind anything beyond that. Has no-one worked out how to manage Rangers without just spending more money than anyone else?

The gap is now so large that the only thing to close it is to get rid of these flops and buy a whole new XI, of a much, much better quality. To do that of course you have to ignore the fact you were just liquidated, with debts of £140m having spent decades spending money you didn't have, at the expense of every other team in the league, and just repeat it all again. Spend more, spend bigger, spend more than you can afford to try and compete with Celtic again. The SFA only care about two teams so they won't care.

Off the field, it's just too pathetic to mention. Both sides have far too many idiots amongst their fan base - come the next game it will be exactly the same but with the roles reversed. The police actually praised the behaviour of fans after the game as well, which I found to be the most staggering. Until the Rangers statement that is, topping even their blue crayon cup final club statement.

"The club's directors are fully aware of the disgust felt by Rangers supporters who were subjected to a sickening and shameful display of outright sectarian hatred towards them" - who needs satire when you get this.

Irrespective of your thoughts about Rangers/Rangers fans and their actions it is very noticeable that you make no mention or condemnation of the vile, bigoted, sectarian and downright sickening behaviour of a section of the Celtic support. Banners which included 'K A H' (kill all huns.....nice eh?), 'Know your place Hun Scum' (again a wee bit of banter eh?). Why, we even had a display of blow up male dolls, one wearing a Rangers scarf & the other wearing an Orange sash, with their hands tied behind their back and hanging by a noose around the necks....Yeah, all good fun from the vermin who inhabit these parts of Parkhead don't you think? You pathetically put down a statement made by the club. Did you honestly expect nothing to be said after the Saturday afternoon entertainment directed towards the Rangers fans. A section of the Rangers fans are no angels, I know that and have witnessed it first hand but if you're going to come on and criticise make sure you give a clearer & more balanced picture unless of course your leaning tends towards the East End!

Yep, lovely them Celtic lot.

How anyone can want that despicable football club to win anything let alone games against Rangers I'll never know.

There is no club I hate more on this planet.

Anyone who goes into this thinking one club is worse than the other is part of the problem.

They are both equally bad, they attract (and pander to) the very worst in Scottish society.

Some people are trying to tie the effigies to the recent suicide of a former Rangers players brother - possibly tenuous but you never know.

Bit of hyperbole there - "idiots" seems far more appropriate.

To take this symbolism seriously would imply that Scotland has a serious sectarian problem - which it actually doesn't, and hasn't done for years. The people utilising these symbols don't even understand them.

Were it not for Rangers and Celtic the sectarian problem in Scotland would be no more an issue than it is in Wales or England (i.e. no issue at all). They are trying to highlight something that only exists in their head.

In reality, Scotland is one of the most socially liberal countries in the world - and has a track record of being the first to implement socially liberal policies (such as gay marriage) ahead of all the other UK constituent countries.

The whole pageantry denotes a Scotland that doesn't exist anymore, quite possibly to the chagrin of those trying to keep it alive.

TBF most Celtic and Rangers fans are equally, if not more, embarrassed by it.

Nope, there is no differentiation made in Scotland, these people are actually very similar.

Well it wasn't really worth the wait was it? The authorities claimed Armageddon would happen with no Rangers, but things were actually far better without them. .

Correct, but such a claim will forever be the eternal shame of the SPL and it's chief executive - imagine Tim Cook coming out and saying all iPhones are rubbish, and keeping his job. It beggars belief.

Scottish football does, and would, do just fine without the Old Firm.

If anyone has some kind of agenda here it is you.

Anyone who identifies them self as the H word (actually illegal to use in Scotland) would very much be part of the problem anyway.

The notion that even the most extreme Celtic fans stagger around Scotland hating protestants is puerile beyond belief. They are idiots, best ignored or mocked, and completely indistinguishable from the idiots on the other side.

In my experience Rangers and Celtic fans who are actually from Glasgow are pretty sound. It's the English who identify with one or other other who seem a bit dippy. Weirdos who have absolutely no interest in Scottish football but attach themselves to a club purely in the name of a conflict which has nothing to do with them and which the majority of those actually involved in it have all moved on from.

And what kind of agenda would I have in your narrow minded view? Anyone who identifies themselves as a Hun (Rangers supporter) is very much part of the problem? Oh, please, grow up! You seriously think/believe that there are no Celtic supporters that hate Rangers fans/Protestants....now that is so naive in the extreme. No, they are not simply idiots....they are vile, bigoted people. Do you seriously think that the banners displayed and the effigies were simply 'banter' ? I agree that the majority of fans from both sides are embarrassed by the antics of these people who disgraced themselves and their respective clubs.

And again, I have no agenda....simply someone who is not prepared to allow shit against my club go unchallenged.

Anti Celtic and Pro Rangers seems bang on the money for your agenda.

And yes, absolutely, anyone who identifies themselves as that term is 100% part of the problem. I know many Rangers fans, all of them normal or I wouldn't associate with them, and none of them would refer to themselves with that term. Why would they? By no definition would it be even remotely accurate.

I imagine there are plenty of Celtic fans who "hate" Rangers but hating Protestants? That's a bit of a leap, Scotland is a very secular society but culturally in many ways would be considered Protestant. What are these Celtic fans just shopping in Catholic stores? Abusing protestants in the street?Defacing churches? Hmmmmm, no. And it's not that uncommon for people to cross the line and Catholics supporting Rangers, and vice versa.

I never said it was 'banter' (so don't quite know why you've quoted that word), I said it is idiots using symbolism they can't even begin to understand. You shouldn't be offended by it, that's what they want, you should laugh at it. Only then will they realise they are simply making a fool out of themselves.

Well, if your club is Rangers that would explain the whole Pro Rangers agenda, which is fine. Unfortunately, most of the stuff that is thrown at Rangers "dead club" etc. is actually accurate and will be used by all of your Scottish opponents for time immemorial. So I'd get used to it.

And it's nothing to do with religion or bigotry, as you'll well know non Old Firm Fans simply don't like Rangers (or Celtic).

The effigies will hopefully be left at home.

Well well well Doctor Freud.....how you work out that I am 'anti Celtic' is quite astounding. If you can find anything in any of my posts that indicates that I am 'anti Celtic' feel free to post it...... You've won a goldfish however when you say I am 'pro Rangers'....perhaps the fact that I have stated that I am a Rangers supporter may have given the game away...damn it....these clues......:bg:. Once again you are totally incorrect....I have no agenda and no amount of your analysis will alter that no matter how much it may irk you. No Rangers supporter that I have ever known identifies themself as a hun....another own goal by yourself to even suggest that.....no doubt you will be well aware that the term is a derogatory insult used by others towards Rangers supporters.

Yes I can assure you that there ARE Celtic fans who actually hate Protestants.... and I will give you an example that I assure you is 100% true....my brother is a Protestant & Celtic fan, a couple of his friends are the same.....several years ago these two guys were returning from a Celtic game on the supporters bus and were overheard discussing about attending a Masonic meeting (surely no need to hide the fact that they were Masons as Celtic have always said they are a club who will welcome people of all denominations?). As it turned out several of their Celtic fans on said bus took objection to this revelation and the 'Fucking Proddie bastards' got a sound beating on the bus!

As for the banners.....at no time did I say that you said they were banter....surely you would recognise that it was actually a question that I asked....apologies if it flummoxed you.

And seriously....Rangers dead club/new club......why you actually bring this up apart from pathetically having a dig is water off a ducks back juste lad.....this is a point of view that is barely worth discussion and the reason being is quite simple. Nobody will change their mind either way. I have argued not a jot with anyone over this so feel free to fill your boots if that is your want....I seriously could not give a St Mirren supporter's chuff....;)

The strange thing was before the Thirties, there was no sectarian hatred between Celtic and Rangers; it only started coming into play during the Depression when the thought at the time was when any jobs came available, they should go to Scots-born people ahead of the Irish immigrants. There was also religious discrimination occurring at the time adding fuel to the hostility between Protestants and Catholics. Then because Celtic and Rangers were getting huge support coming in from the Irish, factions occurred between them and the whole thing spiralled out of control.

The thing about today's sectarianism isn't to do so much with hatred of the others religion or where they hail from; its just done to rile up the opposition, much in the same way Liverpool fans chant about Munich still and Man Utd fans chant about Heysel and Hillsborough. It is on another level up here though and some of the stuff that still goes on is sickening, and brings the name of Celtic and Rangers clubs and many of their decent supporters down in the mud.

On that I totally agree mate! Irrespective of what justy lad says....My brother is a Celtic fan....I have friends who are Celtic fans....I have friends who are Catholic....I abhor the shit that goes on. I abhor the add ons in our songs of 'Fenian Bastards' 'FTP' as much as I hate the singing by Celtic fans glorifying civilian and child murderers....BOTOB etc....

Personally I doubt it very much. Training bust ups happen every day up and down the country. No doubt this has made national news due to his high profile and his constant twittering and also because it is Rangers. If it had been eg a couple of guys from East Stirlingshire or Stenhousemuir nobody would have batted an eye. Mr Barton has done plenty yapping since he arrived up here...time to put his feet to good use.....but it won't be this weekend!

They don't normally reach the media though, so something has gone on behind the scenes. Leaking it to the media within hours is worrying for hin. Barton has too big of an ego to back down and apologise, so it could blow up even further.

If a few of the usual ex-Rangers rent-a-quote players slam Barton over the weekend then it would look even more certain that the club want him out. His age, ego and wages was a likely disaster from the outset.

Very funny for the neutral.

There have been numerous 'incidents' that have reached the media involving clubs like Rangers and Celtic in the past and of course teams from the EPL.....not an everyday occurrence granted. Barton has since apologised to the manager and the club as far as I'm aware and also on twitter as is his wont. Personally I'd rather wait for any developments before concluding that the club want rid of him.

I have just heard a recording of a telephone call he made to Talksport....he stated that he has nothing to apologise for in his opinion so what I said about this in my previous post is incorrect.

he was approached by a news man as he left Ibrox after the meeting and said he wasn't 'allowed' to say anything. He was asked if he was still a Rangers player and said...'I think so'. We'll see how the three weeks go. Tbh I don't know what to make of the whole debacle.
