Think that's slightly harsh considering they are still well in the picture, I've seen them on TV a few times though and they are pretty turgid to watch, and considering the budget he's had there maybe it's the right call.

Should have happened the moment the final whistle went on the play-off final. Last season was a miraculous failure and doesn’t look any better this season.

From what i've seen of them last season and this they'd be coming straight back down if they had somehow got them promoted. Media will look at the stats and look puzzled with them 6th and not losing many games.

How on earth have we not got a manager yet. It’s been over a month but we paid off a lot of charges today financially according to companies house. Southend United are a mystery

Sol Campbell looking likely, just the paperwork to go through, apparently.

The bigger news is this debt payment, it looks to be about half our debt, a change of ownership (fingers crossed) in the offing?

I really do doubt Ron's going anywhere not before he's got atleast planning permission sorted for both sites (probably never) but it's the only way he is going to get a return on the club.
On the manager front I thought it would be sorted by now I heard Sol on Wednesday but it's Friday now and nothing. I saw Larsson come into 1/5 late last night and Sol out to 4/1 the market for our manager has been up and down like a yoyo.

I'm still holding out for Barrett... I've seen that Millwall are hoping to have a new manager by their next game, next Saturday - So in my head I'm putting this with Ron's giving Waddock another week so he can have Barrett next week once Millwall are sorted.

Be surprised if Campbell took the Southend job, unless they assured him the chance to get the club back up next season as relegation looks pretty likely even at this point.

Top 7 budget in this league according to the Chairman.. A lot of contracts up at the end of this season, good chance to clear out a lot of shit and a chance to build your own side. The budget would obviously be cut if we went down a league but pretty sure we would have a top end budget in League 2 - so that option would be there for Sol..

Bloody hell if that's true it's pretty disgraceful you're sat on 4 points.

Budget means not a great deal though. Our worst finish in this league since we came back in 2013 was the year our budget was the biggest out of all those years - JET, Konchesky, Lee Martin, Wagstaff, Jamie O'Hara all brought in for big wages and we only stayed up on the final day. That was also a side which had Bradley Dack in too, who went on to be Player of the Year for the division the following season at Blackburn, having won the same accolade the previous season with us!

Just never gelled all year, and off the back of a good season the one before - we've been rebuilding ever since, and (rightly) have seriously tightened the purse strings.

Unless Ron is that EuroMillions winner where has this money come from? It's
a mystery, we owed Sainsbury's nearly £4M alone and that's if they weren't charging interest. Someone's put in some serious money and I can't believe they are happy to just let Ron have it.

I think whoever gets it will be giving League 2 a crack next season, Klopp couldn't keep us up with the bunch of wasters we currently have. The majority down tools and throw their toys out of the pram as soon as we concede a goal. We've got some decent players but together as a squad they seem pretty toxic. 80% are out of contract come the end of the season so wherever we are next season we'll basically have a new team.

This is the man who a couple of years ago claimed we had a top 6 budget, then everyones accounts were released and it turned out we came in at about 14th. Unless Ron's somehow got access to every other teams balance sheets we'll be about there again this season.

Sunderland been given permission to speak with Gareth Ainsworth.

Would Sunderland fans accept him - done a very good job at Wycombe but be a much different type of pressure and expectation at the Stadium of light.

It is a mystery. We are a mystery. No one has a clue on Rons finances he’s a shady bastard and everyone knows that but this talk about this consortium, people’s imaginations are running away with them. There’s no chance

Southend’s proposed new stadium must be one of life’s great mysteries. How on earth can it take this long?

It's not Ron's doing though, my guesstimate from the companies paid off is £10-£15M has been wiped off our debt. As I said, unless he's the EuroMillions winner someone or a group has invested a hefty sum into the club. It's a shame Geoff King has gone cos I would have asked him, he was usually very candid with answers about off field activities.

Southend’s proposed new stadium must be one of life’s great mysteries. How on earth can it take this long?

1986, the first time a plan was put forward to Southend Borough Council for Southend United to have a new stadium.
Ron's pipe dream is built on his buying some land cheap, getting a nice model knocked up then hoping he could persuade some businesses to lend him the money to build it.
Now Ron can be very persuasive, after all he managed to get Sainsbury's to pay our tax bills, but he's not been able to mug enough people off to build him a new stadium and retail complex.

That could explain the cash injection too, wasn't Kuyt linked with buying some clubs in a consortium?

The talk was with Wycombe they were both part of the consortium which has Bergkamp involved and Koeman I think too. A lot of debt was cleared the other day by the club and as Kim Mitten pointed out that money had to come from somewhere. Ron won’t be going anywhere but I guess he could of sold these guys the ‘stadium dream’ which will always be a dream. There will be an announcement this week on the manager front wait to see if there’s anything else in it

Who're the other two in work managers Sunderland want/wanted to talk to? Ainsworth, Cook and Robins seem to be three of them.

Henrik Larsson was due to be named manager today with a team of Johan Mjallby and Tommy Johnson. Talks have broken down last minute and it's now confirmed they will not be joining.

We are currently a fucking embarrassment.
