Great appointment. I love how his interview was in a Chip shop and his Mrs was there.
Really likeable bloke who says it how it is and often comes out with a gem or two.
Good luck to him , an honest guy who never makes excuses unlike 90% of managers

This will ever end one of two ways I imagine. Either he will do great and they will end up going up or he will fall out with Fenty and leave after a few months. Here's hoping for the latter.

Must be on a fair wedge.

About the only manager we had in about two decades or so who never ever made excuses was Joe Dunne. At first I thought Calderwood was following in his footsteps but recently he's also taken to pinpointing the usual stuff like marginal offside decisions, the number of injuries we have at the mo and all that.

So that little twerp John Fenty is a Tory councillor? FFS.
And has his mates newly installed in Westminster - the honourable members for Great Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Lincoln in the true blue county of Lincolnshire. Even mentioned it in the IH press conference. Gy's Brexit credentials have delivered already...IH will be down the docks at 6am on 1st February, just like Lawrie McMenemy 50 years ago, to welcome the new fleet of Gy trawlers into the docks...

I believe he lowered his 'asking price' and is buying shares to become a 'Board member', so sounds like he's here for a while, plus he is re-locating into the area. Don't be a sour puss, it's about time we had a little success and fun at Blundell Park.

Not sure how I feel about the share purchase on the one hand it shows commitment on the other what happens if he fails, who sacks him?

Anyhow it's an 18 month contract which then goes onto a 6 monthly rolling contract as most of our managers in the past 10 years have been on.

If he fails, he will sack himself. Hopefully he will not fail though.

FYI, I believe Holloway got a cut from any transfer sales during his time at Blackpool...

Don't think it should be allowed to be honest. I say that on the back of the same thing happening with Phil Brown and Southend. He wanted a pay rise, we didn't have the money, so instead Ron decides he's going to give him shares in the club. 6 months later he was out on his ear.
Firstly I bought up what happens if he takes over at another club and plays Southend. He's manager of one side and shareholder of the opposition.
Turns out whilst on gardening leave something along those lines was being thought and thus ensued legal wrangling that went on and on about whether he could keep the shares or whether the club should be buying them back from him. Ended up that Ron had to buy back the shares.

Now if Holloway is thinking this might be a last job and he goes onto become Grimsby director of football or some such job, then fair enough.
But if it isn't and he ends up leaving for whatever reason I reckon Fenty will be having the same issues as Ron Martin.

Recall QPR beating us in injury time (after we’d equalised moments before!) and their fans had been on his back so he offered them to come round his house for a fight!

Proper character very much a West Country man. Decent appointment possibly similar to when we first got Micky Adams in with him needing Grimsby as much as they need him to rebuild their respective reputations.

So if I understand this correctly, Holloway had salary expectations Grimsby could not/did not want to meet, so they offered him equity. Legal precedent appears to be that when he leaves Holloway can cash in his chips. If you can’t afford it now you could be putting off the financial pain until later, but I understand why they went for him.

I guess like most he's been sold the plan of relocation and possible future takeover so he feels the shares will be worth more eventually. Relocation has been on and off for 20 years so believe it when we see it is how most fans now currently treat relocation actually happening.

No doubt he's taken a pay cut to come here though as said in the press conference we couldn't match what he was making from the media and public speaking he does.

His appointment has certainly created a short term buzz though, we have been given our full allocation for Mansfield now which we didn't originally and expect to sell out. They are also apparently queuing outside the ticket office for today's game this morning too so expect a few more than the 3.5k die hard that showed up in Sunday. Let's hope the buzz is a little longer than short term though.

Jeez, and us Lincoln fans were accused of jumping on the bandwagon when the Cowleys came along :shifty:

Only a mini-bandwagon so far 4,555 - about 1,000 more than would have been there with the Holloway effect. Our 4th best in terms of home fans after Scunthorpe, Bradford and early season game against Crewe when Jolley was still considered persona grata. Hopefully some bought half-season tickets.

Apparently Daryl McMahon has resigned. Doesn't surprise me, dont blame him. Likely to be the first of many, and probably means the supposed takeover isn't happening as he stated it's due to lack of resources.

The team he has would survive even with 4 points more taken off IMO, so assume he feels he will lose players?

That's dog shit. Makes you wonder what is going to happen next.
EFL need to get their act together and sort this or it's all the makings of another team disappearing
