The audio makes me like him more, Humberside are absolute poison at times and as Jolley said, every manager has said the same thing. Feel for him that it ended up costing him his job.

Are you new to supporting Town or just been asleep for the past 16 years or so where we have been garbage?

Relegation from Div. 3 to Div 4, relegation to the Conference, 6 years out of the Football League, promised a new ground in 1995 and still no where near to having one, BP falling apart, currently playing nearly as bad as under Slade mk2, is it any wonder RH ask pertinent questions and are not @rse lickers.

Personally I like David Burns for the fact he asks questions that managers don't like, just a shame the likes of Jolley didn't give straight answers.

Sounds like he's having a go at Dean but Tondeur is there too talking at the end.

He's not wrong about Burns and llyod though, especially Burns who jumped ship to Hull the moment they went above us.

Dean and Tondeur always seem to be alright so dunno what his beef is with them. Tondeur always gets critism from our fans for not asking the tough questions.

"Burns who jumped ship to Hull the moment they went above us."

Did he?

JT has always been the main commentator on Town for Radio Humberside, Dave Burns helped out on occasions. He also became RH sports editor so I assume he had to follow the main team in the area which hasn't been Town for years.

Interview with Fenty out. Says the recording was after the 4-0 defeat to Orient. Didn't know anything about it until about 10 days ago when Humberside complained to some directors.

Was meant to be a disciplinary hearing this Friday but Jolley walked not sacked (mutual consent) before it as he assumed the hearing was only going one way which Fenty says might not have happened.

Fenty disappointed the recording has been released as they didn't want to air dirty laundry in public.

On the budget he's annoyed with Michael's comments, claims we are probably in the 7th-12th mark this year after being considerably lower last year which he acknowledged last year.

Says difference between 7th and 12th is probably 100k and expects when the EFL releases the budget lists we will be about 10th. Says can't increase it further due to budget caps and he was going to buy more shares to cover the cap but doesn't need too now because of cup run and winning court case against previous director Lee Mullin.

Listening to the Jolley audio, I don't really have much sympathy. If you are going to go after them, have specific criticisms, rather than just repeating the same handful of phrases. What does "Do your research" even mean?

And I've never got what doing this actually achieves? Sure it makes you feel better, but are they suddenly going to get on your side by shouting and arguing with them? I get he has frustrations, but take them out on other people. Rant to the wife, to the players, to the owner.

Kind of funny to see the local journalists over there get savaged. Over here, we have some of the softest journalists and radio presenters you are ever likely to see. If our local journalist or the radio guys ever said a nasty word about our manager or club, it would be a first. They blow the clubs horn harder than the club themselves.

We have Hull who they blow each week, but then can't really complain was probably other way round when we were Championship and they were lge 2.

Sounds like Jolley was moaning at them for not asking/reporting on the low budget and instead ignoring it and just criticising the way they played.

As I said he was having a go at the wrong two anyway, Dean and Tondeur are generally OK and don't push the boat out, it's Burns who does.

A lot of people are tunnelling in on the fact it was after a heavy loss saying he is just deflecting and trying to blame the media for shit performances. I don't think it's fair to say that with certainty, this blow up would have been brewing for a long time. Burns was actually very antagonistic towards Jolley the first time they spoke on air and it's obviously because he doubted him from the start, he was even tweeting that he was a shit choice. The point about Dean not asking about going man to man at Chelsea on air but then criticising it afterwards is completely fair, why didn't he ask that? I don't think Dean asks good questions as much as people think, he usually just likes to drive certain narratives and pushes for the answers he wants.

In truth we don't know what goes on before or after the pressers, Jolley has just been majorly caught out at his worst. Again I'm not condoning it, but I'd imagine this type of thing happens more often than you'd think. He at least went on to give a very professional and respectable interview straight after like he always does.

The Fenty interview was fine with me. It had the usual bits where he tries to cover himself in glory regarding costs but he explained the Jolley situation well enough and there's no reason to doubt it. I don't believe the hearing would have immediately resulted in dismissal but it's clear he was just fed up and wanted to walk before more damage could be done. I don't know what to think regarding budget. I really doubt it's 10th. Perhaps Jolley was pushing for an increase after the cup runs we've had and the youth we've developed.

Oh well, the circus rolls on once more. At least we have the mystery of the Rolls Royce man to look forward to.

Already been mentioned but Grimsby have never seemed to have a good relationship with Radio Humberside or the local paper (or generally done PR very well full stop).

Is it the Club who get miffed off at Hull getting all the coverage and that, in turn, rubs the media up the wrong way? Or is it an undercurrent that goes back further?

There was also the Dean incident at the Q&A last year, which was out of order.

Fenty has never got on with Humberside, can't remember how far back it goes but a long time. We even had our match commentary on a local Grimsby station instead of Humberside for a few years if I remember right.

Second part of Fenty interview out. Says he's disappointed Jolley didn't thank the board in his statement, he says he got on very well with Michael and sent him a voicemail thanking him after he left. Says its not the boards fault we are in this position and it wasn't a foregone conclusion that he would have been sacked at the hearing.

As for budget, all money was spent in summer with nothing for Jan other than one in one out, however cup run with Chelsea and possibly FA cup means some funds might be available.

No further forward on takeover, 2 interested parties but neither have provided proof of funding to take club forward and until that happens he won't be leaving. Says he wants out, 19 years is a long time at club but he won't let us go the same way Bury went.

Already had 30-40 applications for the managers job, says plenty of interest as club in a decent position with games in hand and a squad that is capable of a top 7 finish. But current focus is on the FA Cup replay first and Ben Davies has rejoined to help Anthony with coaching side of things

I heard Jolley was attending interviews for other jobs, including the Lincoln one, without making the club aware.

Reckon there's any truth in that?

That's what Fenty said in his interview, no idea how true it is (though I'd have to listen again as to whether it was an interview or just talking to other clubs), Fenty says it happens all the time and clubs talk to each other, so they know it goes on. He was asked about Lincoln specifically but didn't mention them himself, nor deny that they was one of them.

He should know of course cause he took Scoot and Hurst from Boston before a formal approach.

Edit: just listened again he does say interviews and Jolley didn't make the club aware he was having interviews nor did he have the clubs permission to.

Says these things go on all the time, everybody talks (meaning football clubs)

Not sure I’d be too happy with Danny Wilson, I mean they were great in the 80’s with Mary’s Prayer but they’ve done fuck all since.

That journo Alan Nixon saying that we’re quite close to appointing Michael Bridges as our new manager. He currently lives in Australia but he was spotted at Newcastle(As in England not Aus) airport the other day.

Would be a big risk as he has no managerial experience that I know of, but he’s a fans favourite so he’d get the fans backing that’s for sure.

Well, he's got to start somewhere now hasn't he and with Carlisle going nowhere (as in neither up nor down), it seems a good place as any.

I'm quite wary of appointing a complete novice to the job and would rather we went with experience. I suspect our board may be allured by the prospect of a crowd-pleasing appointment; they frequently acknowledge the falling crowds and the fact that (iirc) their break-even attendance is around 5000 and may feel that a short term boost in attendance is what they want. It will quickly sour if we don't improve though.

I get you but there are hardly any standout out of work L1/L2 (before anybody says Poch) contenders out there. And I don't know why most lower league clubs always go for the same old tired faces. If some 55 year old out of work manager with a decade or more of experience managing lower league clubs has achieved absolutely nothing during all that time, than what exactly has he got to offer his new club?

In everyday life, failing to do a decent job time and again gets you nowhere, but not so in football. I think it's about time clubs give a chance to all those inexperienced but promising young managers out there.

If it’s true and we are considering giving it to Bridges then we have to appoint an experienced assistant. As much of a class player he was for us, asking a complete novice to keep us up on his own is a big ask.
