What happened to Grimsby winning their last 6 games?

Could be a blessing in disguise for Grimsby. Always better having a month or so to prepare for the playoffs, then fighting for the title (and ultimately failing) up til the final day.

I'll take 3-0 on that perfomance thanks. :bdick:
Fair enough comment.
Halifax didn't look as if they believed they could still reach the play-offs.
Our best performance of the season.

A point gained and 3 players lost to injury at Braintree today. We're down to the bare bones now so probably a good thing there is only 3 games left and we havent got anything to play for!

Scrappy game today, Southport (despite looking dangerous on the counter at times) didn't really make us step out of first gear and any tenuous chance they had to score they wasted. We missed a hatful and should have made it 4/5-0.

P.S. Referee was terrible - which is ironic given our discussion re: officials during the week and the general consensus that this referee wasn't that bad.

No you won't. Chin up mate.

Did you have a disallowed goal 10 mins ago?
Wouldnt know because I went off to Watch the National! Did we?

I think we will go down Now. Welling have the momentum. Pick anything up from Tuesday (however unlikely) and surely they have the upperhand?

Surprisingly comfortable win for us. Another special Payne goal. Congratulations to the Gateshead goalkeeper for being the worst we've seen at Kingfield this season. Absolutely awful. Whilst it certainly didn't work today, and was bordering on silly at times, Gateshead's passing style should be admired. If there were any Gateshead fans at the game, at least they know their team try to play football.

Hahaha go on Welling! We can't let some Tinpotters with a bus that's broken down more times than they have points stay up. It's embarrassing for the league that Alfreton can't even turn up in time for their games.

As much as it pains me to say it. You have a point. Is just is unforgivable really. Its not like it is a rare occurrence. Have a feeling our over achievements in these past few years are catch up on us.

During the first few minutes today we gave away a needless corner. All the goalkeeper had to do was shout. he didnt and then we did the same again with barely 20 mins on the clock and conceded from the resulting corner. Poor. Then the second is totalally needless. But Lenighan grabs the player and concedes the pen. No idea about the third.

Saw the goal sign for 2-2 flash up on FlashScore, so I'm assuming you had a goal chalked off for something.

Best performance of the season for us. For all the talk about handling pressure, you wouldn't have thought any of our players had even heard of the word.

It helps when you get a touch of fortune and then a present for the second, but Halifax were rattled right from the off.

Special mention to Clifford and Gash as they were the two players added to the squad in January, and the best on show today, although everyone played well.

Well our home form has badly let us down this season especially as we are so good away.

Didn't listen to todays game but sounds like the players let the fans down again and didn't turn up, such a shame after the recent run as well. Oh well two training games to prepare for the play-offs now and at least we are away first so hopefully will have enough of a lead before we let ourselves down at home in the second leg!

I think it was more of a case of us being very good today.
Yes, certainly not taking away from our performance. As has been mentioned Clifford and Gash were superb, and everyone put a shift in.

We outclassed Halifax and I don't think they ever stood a chance.

Second half they improved but it really could have been a big win for us but for some wayward passing in the final third.

Clifford was superb and has proven to be a fantastic signing. Gash has certainly improved and whilst he doesn't often look like troubling the scoresheet, he works tirelessly and is an excellent foil for Akinde.

Another game down and it's now a straight fight between ourselves and Bristol Rovers. It could be all over next weekend but I suspect this will go down to the final day.

On to the next one.
