How we didn't destroy Aldershot is beyond me. We must've had 20-25 good chances, yet nearly handed them an equaliser on the plate.
Despite the score, I'd have to say Aldershot were the worst team we've faced at home all season - didn't create anything really, set-pieces were abysmal, and all three centre-backs were woeful. Highlight was Finney attempting to hoof a ball thrown from the crowd and completely missing it.

I think Evatt will be fuming at the amount of chances we squander, because every week it seems like we could have hit five or more.

The form table over the last 15 games makes interesting reading;-
1) Barrow P15 W13 D1 L1 for 40 points
2) Harrogate P15 W8 D5 L2 for 29 points...

The management of us currently is completely bizarre. We can’t buy a win but it’s the same team every single game, same subs every single game on pretty much the same minute every single game.

Ardley’s grim refusal to consider dropping Michael Doyle and playing the team he was forced to during September and October (when we were winning every game!) is going to get him sacked.

Games like that are what Gannon calls 4-pointers - not just the 3 points on offer, but the chance to really improve the goal difference which can effectively count as a fourth point.

That's what left me feeling a bit annoyed even though we'd won 4-2.

First twenty minutes or so was a very different story - Chorley looked solid & adventurous, they took the lead with a slice of luck but were well worth it tbf. The game changed after a fine passage of play from County, some really neat passing zig-zagged towards the Chorley goal despite some real harassment from the visitors, and ended with a simple tap-in from Nyal Bell. From that moment on our heads went up, theirs went down. Took the lead just before the break after Chorley gave away a stupid foul on the edge of the area, Tom Walker takes the free kick, I didn't see what happened because of the mass of bodies in the way, but I'm told the 'keeper spilt the ball letting Festus tap in for his first senior goal.

Second half, County come out of the traps with real vim & vigour, all the pressing didn't count for much though until Bell found himself largely alone running at the defence, decided "fuck it, I'll have a shot" and blasted the ball home for his second. I thought that might've been goal of the season if it weren't then followed up by an even better thunderbolt from Walker. Seriously, watch out for us on the highlights in an hour or so, some great goals.

And that's why I kept thinking "four pointer", we won't get a better opportunity to improve our poor goal difference than this; but then County switched off in injury time and conceded to a simple header. So we ended up winning by two when it should have been four or more - have heard we'd also put the ball over the line for another but the liner said no. Will need to see the highlights for that one.

And let's be honest, we should really have had four more points from those fixtures.

EDIT: 5 more points!

I think that is a very fair summary, we were certainly second best second half, by a long way. You are right about your second, very rare handling error from Urwin, let the ball slip and your lad reacted quickest. Cant actually see us staying up, we gave made poor signings at the start of the season, all the best to County for the rest of the season.

Sutton were there to be beaten today, they're no great shakes but fully deserved the point.
Ardley is sleepwalking to the sack with his complete inability to change the players, tactics, substitutions.
We've gone from 4pts off the top to 14 pts off the top in the blink of an eye and he absolutely will not change a thing.
We're now in relegation form playing the same timid safety first football that took us down last year.
Sadly, it's Ardley out for me because I no longer believe he can affect positive change. Season in grave danger of being wasted.

Barrow seem to be romping their way to the title.

Excellent, excellent performance from us today. Would like to pick out one or two but honestly all 10 were brilliant and ran themselves into the ground. Halifax were poor and Jeff King put in his second Oscar winning performance of the season. Second most loathsome individual on show today behind the referee. Where do they find them? Dreadful.

Onto Chesterfield on Tuesday.

beat Aldershot 1-0 to strengthen our position at the top, but the wind really spoilt the game. Should have won by many more and Aldershot's season was probably summed up by the 1 glaring opportunity they had midway through the 2nd half - 2 players beat the offside trap and had only the keeper to beat - and failed miserably. Dior Angus got out goal midway through the 1st half when he deflected in a Rooney shot from a well worked free kick routine. Not pretty - but 3 points. :)

So frustrating as all Lewis Walker had to do was square it to Panayioutu and he had an empty net to score into.

While annoying to lose to a deflection, I do feel you were the better side and deserved the win. Mitch Walker kept us in the game with a number of very good saves in both halves.

Agree with all of that. How impressive were the two youngsters coming in at the last minute and not knowing each other or any of their team mates? Their game management was spot on, they didn't try to overplay when it wasn't appropriate. I imagine Dicko was a great help to them.

P.S. Jeff King is a colossal bellend.

Panayiotou probably would have missed.

Jeff King isn't well liked by our own fans i can assure you. All he does is moan at the ref and then get booked when it's not going his way. Waste of space

We were non existent in the first half except for a disallowed goal when the lineman put his flag up about 5 seconds after our player headed it in.

After our goal Hartlepool went to pieces and seemed set on playing for a draw, despite controlling the possession before then. Tarpey’s winner was a great strike - wrong foot from 20 yards.

Unless we get a safety net of three or four goals we just constantly shit ourselves when in front, oppo keeper had nowt to do second half by the sounds of things, needed to make subs sooner, why wait until the 81st minute to make your first sub?

The fans are the only constant positive, everything else is wank.

Linesmen at this level don't flag for incidents, they are merely there to indicate which way the ref has randomly given a decision. At least it seems that way.

With Barrow being in the televised late kick off on the 21st and with Yeovil away at Chesterfield on Tuesday and then at Fylde in a 3pm kick off on the 21st and with Bromley at home to Eastleigh we could be level on points with both those teams (with us having 2 games in hand on each) before we kick another ball in the league, which all made winning yesterday even more important. IF we can then beat Solihull we'll be 10 points clear of them on the same games played which would be huge.
