Not a chance there's 7 teams better than us, scoring goals or not. We'll get in the playoffs based virtually off our home form alone. The Racecourse is an absolute fortress, we've lost 5 games in the last 47 there.

you might not want play to us if we make it then, 2 wins & 3 draws so far at the Racecourse

that might be our 1st win away at Barnet ever?

Lost 2-0 to Maidenhead.

Could have been 4-up after half an hour but missed all our chances. Down the other end they went to score on the break and from then on we just couldn't break them down. Loads of possession but they were really well organised and defended well, we failed to use the width and struggled to find any gaps trying to play through them. Then another break away goal in the last minute.

Fair play to their fans, not many but they did sing for most of the match.

There is no enjoyment anymore at all. I don’t know a single chesterfield fan who enjoys going to games anymore, we just do it because it’s in our blood!

Initially I was against the idea of a Phoenix club but I just cannot see a turning point / way out for us at the moment. The club is rotten to the core, not a single person in that boardroom gives a toss about this club or its fans.

Long gone are the days of heroes such as Moss, Davies, Lormor, Lester etc who people used to love turning up and watching... we’ve now got footballers who wouldn’t even stand out in the division below in Curtis Weston, Robbie Weir, Josef Yarney, Joe Rowley etc.

Like I said, best we can hope for us that Sheridan keeps us up again but then we’ll have the same problems again next year so what’s the point
Honestly wouldn't care if we go down again. Nothing this club does anymore could make me any more fucking depressed. Beating chesterfield is like kicking an old homeless drunk guy on the street

I’m the exact same, a feeling of numbness every time we lose a game because it’s been such a regular occurrence for 4 years on the spin now. Going down again might be the best thing that could happen for us, club liquidated and we start again in step 9 or whatever it is

It is, unless the ‘old’ Dover ever played and beat us at Underhill.

The team's starting click going forward and we've got the best keeper in the league by an absolute mile (copyright Darren Sarll). Just need to steer clear of bad injuries and we should be ok.

Fantastic post on our forum from a poster that pretty much sums up exactly how I and the majority of Chesterfield supporters are feeling right now:

‘It's sad, when the team first started struggling it was upsetting given the position we had been in, as time went along and more incompetence came to the fore and the struggles continued, then it turned to anger against the regime and the start of NAPM for me, as the incompetence grew further and new players looked even less bothered about the sacred shirt than the last lot had it started turning to the worst emotion of them all....apathy.

I ended my boycott today cause I was hoping to maybe have seen a difference there that might convince me to put my hatred of the top brass aside and start going back again, and after that 2nd goal went in I sat there realising that I just didn't care anymore. This club has been destroyed, it's entered the season completely unprepared and for all the domination we had I saw 11 Woking players who fought for everything despite been the part time outfit and it was exactly the same as when we lost that crunch game at Grimsby a couple of years back, their players simply wanted it more. That was over 2 years ago and still we don't have a team ready to fight.

There was a time I used to work a night shift, get straight on the coach to Carlisle, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Hartlepool etc etc, go there for the full day and get back home and head straight off on to another night shift, doing nearly 40 hour stints without sleep just to go watch us play. Hell I had a 2 hour walk home from the stadium once in deep snow with just a t-shirt on as i'd forgot my coat after a 7 hour trip back from Carlisle and I'd have gladly done it again, in fact I walked back many times cause the buses would have stopped running by the time we made it back and I couldn't afford a taxi but I never cared cause it was always worth it, in fact I was proud to say I followed my club round all over even if we didn't win, much to the bemusement of the ones who supported the big premier league teams or the Sheffield sides. I've been there when we've not won for months at a time and when we've suffered relegations and still wouldn't have changed a thing. There was no way at all I could ever envisage a scenario where that fire would be burned out. Then as I sat there tonight I realise that's exactly what's happened, and that's genuinely did upset me, cause I'm not a fair weather fan, we could be losing every week and I'd still be there cause it's my club and through thick and thin, but the club has to care back, and it simply does not anymore.

This has been a depressing night’

I’ll leave you with that one, it’s good night from me, had enough of even thinking about football

Sad for brother Chesterfield, piss funny about John Sheridan. Another Christmas without presents for his kids.

Mark Harris is quality, looking like the best player we've got.

Watch him get recalled by Cardiff and then sold to someone else.

Thanks for summarising. I legit believe our defence + loan keeper (who I hope stays) are top 7. Sadly the attack isn't on the same level but Devonshire was wise to line up with pace today which he hasn't done in our previous games.

Shame Cardiff will recall Harris in January when we are in a hotly contested three-horse title race and then we end up limping into 4th place again.

Harrogate unbeaten in their first 10 last season. Lost 2 already this term, surprised by that

I can guarantee they won’t have lost 3 by 5pm Saturday

I bloody well hope so. Being worse than a Peter Taylor anti-football side would be pretty crushing.

You will 100% be better than us. Dover must have had a very off night when we played them because we’ve been atrocious in the 2 games I’ve seen.

Weirdly I didn’t think we were that bad. You looked suspect at the back at times but cut through us like a hot knife through butter on the counter.

Can only judge on what I’ve seen... no they weren’t :dk:

Joking apart it is strange that they won at your place after they've been so poor elsewhere (based on reports and their other results) and you've generally been pretty good so far.

I have Dover down as my dark horses this season, Hessenthaler has put together a decent looking side and Dover is always a horrible place to go for away sides (a bit like a southern Barrow) so God knows what happened that day!

They will recall him. Loan him back out to Newport, who won't play him.

In the end the answer to this was a nailed on mid-table/relegation-threatened side that we know how to see off in our sleep, even with being reffed out the whole way through and scoring even with 10 men.

Result has released the pressure that was building up, simply got to be beating these sort of sides on a regular basis if we want to be in the top 7.
Really? Only your second win in 11 games in this series. Ref gave you everything all night, up to and after the red. We both know he'd have pulled us back to give us a free kick rather let us play on and score, as he did with Wrexham! :bdick:

Stockport were good for their win tonight, but a draw would have been fair. From 30 seconds in Stockport tested our keeper and dominated the first half - deserved their equaliser just after half time. We imploded again, and I saw Stockport's second described as a wonder strike but it wasn't - our defenders gave him all the time and space in the world to pick a slot and rattle it in from 30 yds unchallenged. From then on we were the better side and created a bunch of chances - don't know how Quigley didn't finish on a hat-trick, while someone (Angus?) missed a header that was harder to miss.

Impressed by Stockport's quick attacks, and especially Thomas and Minihan who look as anyone in their respective positions at this level.

Oh, and the referee was a (female) wanker. Gave anything if a player ended up on their arse, and on plenty of occasions gave the free-kicks completely the wrong way round. Whoever shouts loudest gets the decision.

She reffed our pre-season friendly against Blackpool and actually did a good job. Is there a female lino aswell?
Dunno, didn't notice. Tbf it was probably that first 20 minutes she had a 'mare, wasn't that much else to complain about later on.

Stockport 2 Barrow 2 John Rooney free kick
I don't know what it is about scoring in front of the Cheadle End that shows up absolute no-marks for what they are when they celebrate, why they get it in their heads to wind up three thousand people I've no idea. Decent finish tbf, I said to my mate Hinchliffe left too much room on the right, can't rely on the wall to stop it (unless they start sitting on each others' shoulders)
