Every game is becoming a must-win for us at the minute. All our players look shot confidence-wise.

I'm sure Halifax start every season with a bunch of wins and then struggle for 8/9 months?

Tomorrow night is battle of the next Grimsby managers. Some of their fans are slapping money on Pete Wild while Simon Weaver is said to have applied for it.

Wishful thinking I have to say. Weaver has a job for life at his dad's club and our chairman will tell them to fuck off. :ds:

A sacking would be, once again, crazy! Madness at this time.

But I agree it's a huge game for the manager, fail to win and the restless locals will sharpen their pitchforks that come out at least once a year, by law.

I think it would be unfortunate rather than crazy but 4 from 18 if we lose and it's reasonable to ask questions of him. We have a big budget, a decent squad and only O'Brien unavailable.

Ask questions for sure, but that's hand selecting last 4 games? Why not last 8? Or 12? People have already forgotten the run just before these 4.

There is nothing unfortunate about it IMO, it's premature and once again madness. You can't sack a manager every time they go through a bad short period. If it's a poor return from next 4 games then serious questions should be asked by the owners.

Wonder how many BW will bring on a Tuesday night? Double figures?

We could be looking at sub 4k tomorrow.

He was in charge when we were relegated out of the league ffs, this thing about Notts fans being impatient Neanderthals is fucking bollocks tbh.
We normally win midweek games so a stay of execution for Mr Crab. The attendance won’t be pretty though.,

to put in perspective how much things can change look at Barrow's results and position over this season...
After 1st 9 games;- 7 points a GD of -9 and in 21st place.
The next 12 games;- 33 points and a GD of +23
So after 1st 21 games;- 40 points and GD of +14 and in 1st on GD and with a game in hand.

Yeah he was he took over from not one but two sacked managers that season and then had the club he was managing put up for sale by the broke chairman.

Great for moral that.

Can't agree about the fans, we are so used to managers being hired and fired every single season, we think it's a norm, which is understandable.

It isn't, the norm.

Notts don't tend to wait for a manager to fail,we wait for them to start failing and the Chairman pulls the trigger.

Notts have the best player in the league in so many positions - they really should be bossing it.

Not even sarcastic, their squad is unreal for this level.

It's probably been answered elsewhere, but was there a reason for the sudden upsurge in form? Just unlucky in the first 9 games or Evatt tweaking tactics/bringing in a player or two?

Our improved form in September/October came from the experienced core of the side (Dickinson, Wilkinson, Lee and Smith) signing and getting fit, displacing the youth/young pros that made up the team in August.

just couldn't keep leads in the 1st 9 games (I think we'd led in 7 of the 1st 9 games) - we literally threw away 14 points from winning positions - then we brought in Platt on loan from Blackburn on a season long loan (actually arrived for match 9) who has solidified the defence. We also switched to 3-5-2 at the same time.

I don't know the league and it's players anywhere near good enough to make a comment on that bold statement.

But I agree we should be doing considerably better, but never expected us to Boss it. That sort of comment exclusively came from fans of other clubs in this league.

On opening day I though Barrow looked decent but lightweight, and still working each other out. Its not a surprise they've improved, although I didn't expect them to be top.

Notts County had a horrific prep for this season so all told they probably aren't doing too bad.

I still think Yeovil will win the league.

even at this stage of the season you can almost guarantee that Yeovil v Barrow on the next to last weekend of the season will end up on tv...

Fair enough. Nothing that will give hope that your form will tail off then! Please no more TV ties for us, we were abject in both games and could argue were our 2 worst league performances of the season.

We're far too easy to play against at the moment; Allow us to press for 20/30mins then tire ourselves out and give away any lead built up. Ironically, it's the same experienced core that was our strength a month ago that could be blamed for getting leggy in the second half and not protecting the back 4. Before Wrexham on Saturday we'd conceded just twice in the first half compared to TWENTY in the second.

Oh no - it happens loads when larger ex-league clubs come down. Luton, Bristol Rovers etc. Great individuals but something lacking that stops them running through the league (Rovers nearby did, but Akinde stopped them :) )

Players like Brindley, Turner, O’Brien, Boldewijn, Dennis are all up there amongst the best in their position down here. Yes they need the supporting squad around them to match their skill sets (and the motivation etc) - but individually they have all proven themselves very able.

We need a win. Ardley definitely needs a win, not much goodwill around for him at the moment. The fan base, me included think we've enough in the squad to be in the play offs and that we're dropping points because of Ardley's selections and tactics.
Really hope it doesn't come to a sacking but we're 4 pts from 15 and we are a sacking club, we pretty much do it every year.
He knows he's under pressure as well because he's started the 'people want me to fail' lines (or words similar - can't remember the exact wording of Leigh Curtis' tweet).

Yeah exactly, it's common place as history shows so no real surprise.

Yep, the last 2 managers Nolan and Kewell, albeit under a different owner (if he could be called that) both did the same a few days before being sacked.
Once you start moaning about people moaning about poor results thats when you know your clinging on by a thread.

This match with Sutton has the makings of being the most boring match ever, is it wrong to want us to lose so dinosaur Taylor gets the elbow? Snore fest incoming.

2013/14 - Top half all season, finished in play-offs
2014/15 - Won first 5, top half all season, finished 9th
2015/16 - Lost first 4, hardly out of bottom 4 all season- relegated

2017/18 - Poor start, picked up a bit, then fell back, finished 16th
2018/19- Decent start, quickly fell away, finished 15th
2019/20- Great start, never out of top 4, still up there.

Basically you're talking bollocks.:ds:

Just what I thought, before last Saturday’s game at the Rec. Notts have a really good squad for this level, but individually they were not up for it, and the lumbering centre-backs were a liability. I was surprised to see no tactical change at halftime, to cope with Shots’ high- pressing game..Still expect Notts to be thereabouts in April.
My tip -for-the - top, Wrexham, had better get their fingers out......
