We also have a habit of looking good in games and then out of nowhere shitting ourselves spectacularly, hopefully the Wrexham game wasn’t a one off and we can duplicate that performance and get something from Saturday.

All I’m saying Wooderson is that if Notts and Pools both lose I know who’s getting the blame...:lac:
I can't tell if you were impressive or not in our game. I'd still maintain that the best side I've seen this season are Notts County, though we were really poor then too.

I'm really looking forward to visiting the Racecourse again tomorrow. It feels great being back in a division which has proper football clubs in it rather than having to tolerate the likes of Brackley and Spennymoor away!

We've sold out our allocation so a vociferous County following is to be expected. We've been playing pretty well and have picked up a good number of points in our opening 7 games so far.

I think it'll be a tight one, with a draw or narrow victory either way expected.

In comparison to how we've started this season it was a decent performance from us, you were pretty rotten even with 11 men.

We were shite first half hour (mind both sides were) and a bit sloppy towards the end but overall good value for the win. We don't win much at home so by recent years standards it was a decent showing.

No idea what Hughes was doing playing a completely new midfield against Pools. But also can't have helped having a central defender and left back drop out before the game, and our first choice centre forward go off injured after 15 minutes.

Shit result but people now wailing about relegation battles and Hughes needing to be sacked, and making up rumours about how he's lost the dressing room (funny how that always gets rolled out after a bad decision) or slagging off the ownership model... Its just wearing. I hate that place (Red Passion) . The same half dozen posters repeatedly putting the same thing and slagging everyone else off. Just not enjoyable.

I think there will be some bother if we fail to win tomorrow. People starting to lose patience. The club has issue 3 seperate rallying calls this week to get behind the team, wear blue and have faith in Sheridan. They know what's coming..

Enjoy your trip to the proact Daggers fans, no doubt you’ll be heading home with the 3 points... especially looking at these horrific stats of our form over the past 4 seasons...

Only 3 years without a top half finish? Try 9!

Didn't Hartlepool, or another ex-FL Club down here, get to 10 or 11 last season?

I don't think you guys are too far off being a good side. Certainly in the first half at EP on Monday you had the lion share of possession and chances to take the lead. Heads just seemed to drop with that goal so quickly after HT it seemingly knocked the wind out of your sails.

We all know John Sheridan is a good manager. I'm sure he'll get it right.

What's the crack with Sheridan? Strong finish to last season and I thought he'd have you in and around the PO's. Obviously still time, but it's been a poor start. Budget cut or something?

06/07 we finished second in League two and have finished in the bottom half of whatever league we've been in since, but then again we are CURSED so it only makes sense.

We were neck and neck with you lot until around March time and slipped to 7th. Walsall win it that season? Or Swindon? Strong league that year.

2006/07 was our last top half finish until we won the NL in 2016/17, which was a big fall having been in the PO's the previous 5 on the bounce.

Walsall by a point, we were top ahead of second by three points with two to play, lost them both and finished second.

Morphing into statto from the Fantasy Football TV show here:

The last time we finished top half in any league was in 2006/07 when we finished 2nd in L2. So yeah 11 seasons.

Since that time our highest position in all L1-VNL is 13th in L1

We have an average position of 20th in that time. 2 relegations.

You also have to go back to the 06/07 promotion year to the time we won more home games than lost.

Crowds have gone from around 5000 average to 3500, but surprisingly not dropped off much since being here.

Depressing.

We had a 19-season streak (1974/75–1993/94) where we finished in the bottom half each season bar one (10th in 1982/83), a descent where we went from playing titans such as Blackburn, Watford, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Wrexham, to microbes such as Runcorn, Merthyr, Slough, Witton and Woking.

Sheridan will get the backing he needs quoted the owner well after releasing players and signing so called development players who aren't ready for the 1st team i would say a definite budget cut which is strange when you supposedly have the best paid manager in the league

Budget cut quite severely, and the recruitment off the back of that has been poor.

Very enjoyable season that one. We set the football league record of 9 consecutive wins without conceding that season. Still wasn't enough for a PO spot even despite a 5-0 win away at Darlington on the last game of the season we missed out due to a late late Bristol Rovers goal (who went on to win the PO's!)

Some household names in our record breaking team including Wayne Hennessey, Ashley Williams and Anthony Pilkington. Oh those were the days!

Great season. I think Barnet away (when the record came to an end) was the closest I've come to getting carted off at a game when I went drunkenly mental at a copper for Barnet randomly announcing that Bristol Rovers were winning to rile us (it worked). Not sure to this day why I thought it was the poor coppers fault.

Rovers beat us at home on the last day to stop us winning the league and they sneaked into the play offs :( We'd also just come off a 23 game unbeaten run.

They certainly were good days.

I think we might have drew 1-1 at your place on a Friday night that season. We went 1-0 up, Forrester hit the bar late on then you scored a last minute equaliser through Richie Barker (penalty after a Nat Brown handball, maybe).

Yeah, it was a great season for L2.

Hartlepool went on that long unbeaten run, you with your clean sheets (John Ruddy in goal?), Bristol Rovers came from no-where to win the PO's. Posh, Darlington, Shrewsbury were all decent sides, MK under Allen were a tough nut to crack with McLeod and Platt up front plus Keith Andrews, Edds, Lewington etc, we bottled it in the final two months of the season but played really attacking football, Chester above Wrexham and Macclesfield were last season where they were then - 22nd!

Wayne Hennessey, of not-a-Nazi fame :ohn:

As usual a candid and forthright interview with Sarll ahead of today's game. He calls the league programme "stupid" and " scandalous, absolutely scandalous". He's regularly had to give several players (Matt Worthington in particular) "a bit of an old-fashioned size nine up the harris at half time". We still haven't got a fully-qualified, full time physio. We haven't got any money to bring any more players in and we may have 5 out today leaving 14 fit with 4 first year pros who were academy players last year.

It's all looking shit
