The inescapable fact is that Barnet have inexplicably, somehow won this fucking league 3 times and nobody understands how or why. :dk:
Ah no, pretty easy to explain:
1. Bazza Fry wheeler-dealed as our manager without much success in the Alliance Premier League for many years (with a brief interlude at Maidstone) until Stan Flashman came along and bankrolled a team. After 3 runners-up spots in 4 years Bazza finally hit the jackpot in 1991.
2. Paul Fairclough was bequeathed a squad by Martin Allen in 2004 which had a strong defence and midfield but a complete mess of a midfield. He remedied this by signing Richard Graham, Dwayne Lee, Dean Sinclair and Nicky Bailey, kept the rest of the team the same and we romped home by 12 points.
3. In the summer of 2014 Martin Allen was sharp enough to spot that John Akinde was at the end of his contract at Alfreton, Lee Cook was recommended to him and he managed to sign up Sam Togwell. We also got off to a very fast start and that was enough to hold off Bristol Rovers for the rest of the season.

2014=Knock it into the box. Akinde falls over. Akinde scores penalty. Rinse and repeat.

Knock it into the box? Allen's teams play narrow, not much crossing, it wasn't Akinde's fault try that the league is full of clumsy CBs and keepers who underestimated how quick he was. Cook and Luisma's goals when cutting inside were so important.

I invite you to look at all of the penalties we got this season through fouls on Akinde and find one that was not a justified penalty.

He went down like a sack of shit under minimal contact countless times.

interesting to see how all the predictions and write ups are looking now;- about the only correct thing is that Chesterfield are battling it out with Fylde... just to avoid relegation and not for the title...

This was ours, at a time when our ownership was up in the air, and we’d signed no-one: “If County can get their act together before the season begins, then you'd back them to have a solid season such is their pulling power with prospective players.”

Fair play Lee, pretty much spot on.
