Huh? Why, have they been paid or something? I'm not being funny, but the stand they took last week will look pretty hollow if they suddenly are mentally recovered enough to play this weekend and no money has received.

Because their injuries are now fit.
Is this a 2019 version of keeping the sprinklers on?

Right now I would just take starting, most likely at Radcliff Borough
Bloody missing the useless buggers

If you get started at Step 4 we'll probably meet up in a couple of years as I don't see us getting out of this Step 2 league any time soon. I think we may just make the play-offs this season, but I wouldn't put any money on it.

Maybe because the EFL have given them some concrete assurances on their salaries? Probably helps to know when you're going to get some money to pay things like, I don't know, bills, mortgages etc etc.

Although maybe they were just pulling a fast one because they were petrified of playing the mighty Crewe.

Unfortunately for Macclesfield I'd expect it to be one of our lowest followings of the season. Doubt over the fixture and a few days before Christmas (also it's miles away) don't make it an attractive proposition.

I went to Cambridge last week and that's put me off the long trips for a while!

Woah, you're getting the wrong end of the stick. I'm not questioning their actions last weekend. I'm just curious what's changed this week? What assurances have they been given exactly then?

I don't blame them for taking a stand last week. It helped raise their issue to the highest levels and maybe forced the owners hand. I don't think for one second that they did it to avoid playing us, they drew with Bradford the week before, I doubt we'd pose any fear to them, even with a few suspensions and injuries.

I'm believe they did it because they did genuinely felt too upset emotionally to play. But I'm just curious why now, after seemingly nothing firm in terms of money received, they are now recovered enough to play. I'm not accusing them of anything suspicious, I'm just wondering what has changed in the space of a week.

And as dull boring matches are, sadly, quite common down here at this level

Speak for yourself - you can’t look at the pitch at our place without seeing the away side score.

All the best to Macc. The latest victims of the incompetent complacency of the EFL and general greed of modern football. Hope you pull through like we did.

So it seems the Walsall game goes ahead? Players been paid? I’m with JJ I understand the players making a stand having been treated appallingly by their employer but do do we have any understanding of what has changed between last week and now?

Well, they have been paid as per an EFL statement, so no issues from me about them playing tomorrow. I do hope they can get the club sold ASAP.

Leaves little room for movement now if the players strike again or fail to get paid on time there would likely be four gone plus the new sanction.

Thought they’d get minus three so a little surprised.

Looking likely there will be no income this week, rather a lot of refunds.

You will get 3 points back against us on new years day as askey wont want macclesfield going down. I'm pretty sure we lost on purpose last season to keep your lot up.

Remind me, what did Bolton get penalised for effectively doing the same, plus fielding a team of scholars in several league games?
Words fail me. It’s the EFL ... they make it up as they go along.

The EFL wanted Bolton to get the same punishment and have appealed Bolton’s punishment as too lenient haven’t they?

Macc will be fine despite the points deduction. There are at least 2 worse teams already struggling at the wrong end.

As long as they sort their shit out now and don’t incur further penalties or the suspended!

What’s the latest with the take over Macc fans?

Depends if they get paid I guess as we are the first game after pay day (unless they get it pre Xmas in December)

This and the Bolton case has opened a massive can of worms. Expect legal cases left, right and centre, especially if Bolton stay up.

Who gives out punishments then? Sounds like the EFL are appealing against their own ruling?

Bolton missed two games and failed to complete their fixtures last season, no effective penalty for them.

What the fuck are the EFL doing?

So according to the BBC tomorrows game may have to be played behind closed doors due to some safety certificate issue. Any chance of letting the fans know seeing as though we are planning on leaving at 5am? rediculous

Given that the official line to the press is No Comment, I doubt the away fans are high on the list for the Macclesfield owners.

Assuming players and staff salaries are reliant on match day income, the consequences for Macclesfield’s future are, presumably, serious. Silkmen, what are you hearing?

Is completely unfair on you guys; should have an official club statement to clarify things in the next couple of hours apparently.

Six point deduction confirmed. As previously mentioned a further four point deduction is suspended.

Macclesfield are now in 22nd place.

Do we know what circumstances might lead to the 4 point deduction being applied, given the question marks over whether the Plymouth game will go ahead?
