He's done well since getting his chance hasn't he? Scored a few goals, put on a few assists.

Supports the wing back better than any of our wingers, too.

There's got to be a softer way to deal with accidental handball in the area. If it's not given, Arsenal could be aggrieved, but the ball hitting the arm he's using to break his fall doesn't match up to the punishment. Can't they just make it an indirect free kick with some room for interpretation? If it's a more sinister handball it can be given as a penalty. It just seems an incredibly harsh punishment for something that is neither intentional nor necessarily game-changing.

The ball was on target, hand stopped said ball... Has to be a penalty. There's a chance the ball may have gone in, there's a chance it won't with a pen.

Though I would be saying the opposite if it were against us.

My c*** of a neighbour was blasting music so I went to watch this one at the pub (sorry Johnny).

That's how you perform away from home in the CL when you need a win.

Campbell's pass for Giroud's second was beautiful.

Well done you bastards.

Rio: "For me, Koscielny is the best defender in the league. Kompany isn't fit or consistent enough. You don't want to play against this guy"

I take the piss out of Arsene often enough so it's only fair I congratulate him for stumbling through this fairly easy group with an impressive win tonight. His record of getting through the group stages is superb, it has to be said.

Still, you'll get dumped out of the comp by Barca in the next round despite a spirited effort in the second leg. Giroud will continue his scoring run only to get injured in a few weeks, as will Walcott after being rushed back for this game. You won't win the league either.

Cheers for the undressing, mate.

He's not as athletic as Welbeck or as direct as Oxlade-Chamberlain, but he seems a good balance between the two. I think Oxlade-Chamberlain has the higher ceiling, but Campbell should be in the team before him right now.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Great result for Arsenal. Pulled it out of the bag when they needed it.

But fuck me sideways, that was a softarse penalty!

Making goonerz cry
Media building this up as "one of the great Arsenal European nights". Most clubs have that night in May. Arsenal have it in early December snatching 2nd place from a league 1 standard Greek side. Here's to Arsenal getting Barcelona and gooners complaining that they always get difficult draws.

Didn't get to watch the match, but obviously delighted with the result. Sounds like Giroud and Campbell were especially good which is nice to hear. Bring on Barca....

A handball has to be deliberate. Either moving your hand to the ball or your hand being in an 'unnatural' position.

That was neither. Accidental handball. No penalty.
